1. Those B Quads are very well respected, IMO the coolest bass Peavey have ever made!
 2.
Played well for the time they were out there, just an old relic now..and more likely surpassed by the top luthiers ..
What planet are you on? Alembic have continued to push boundaries and they are still as popular as ever. I'd go as far as to say that no other luthier can compete with Alembic in terms of sheer talent and skill when it comes to making high end basses.
 3.
HA HA NOW i get the joke he is sh*te !
Yep, you got that right! Jaco is the King. Definitely one of my favourites.
 4.
Hi, Nice bass. What is the bar behind the bridge pup with the cable on? Steve
It appears to be a MIDI pickup.
 5. I've had both. I had a fretless Vintage Modified jazz for longer than I had a Classic Vibe Jazz, but the CV was the better instrument, better than the Sadowsky Metro basses Guitar Guitar have had in, for sure! Played in a blind test, the CV would come out on top, I'm sure! Shame I sold it, as a fretted jazz was surplus to my needs!
 6.
Mine neck dove(?) like a mutha and I wore it high (not Mark King high but high enough). Loved the bass but the neck dive ultimately made me sell it on.
Interesting, I wear mine almost Mark King high and yet I have no problems. Ah well, different vinegar strokes for different folks.
 7.
All Warwick Thumbs do this neck dive but are sorted with a thick suede strap- would this not work on other basses? Bob
I thought when I bought a Thumb that I'd probably be buying into neck dive and that it was just something that I'd have to live with. This was simply not the the case, it balances brilliantly. I'm beginning to think the people who found Thumbs neck diving were wearing the basses around their ankles, rather than high on the chest where the Thumb is supposed to be worn!
 8. Hmm, if there was a price shown for the K5 I may well have made an impulse buy there....things are getting crazy back here!
 9.
A wee question, as most of the makers/distributors i have contacted want very large minimum stock before you can be a dealer and as i am doing this on a tight budget, most of my initial stock will be second hand, would you still visit this kind of shop?
I would be far more inclined to visit that kind of shop. Second hand instruments to me spell quality and value. Quality because they are tried and tested, they have survived the use of previous owners and have been nice nicely played in, so they feel and sound wonderful. They also spell value because they are obviously cheaper than the new thing, which attracts me even more. Furthermore, for a shop which is selling second hand instruments, I'd be extremely interested in visiting just because they are likely to have some interesting stuff, not just the usual racks of jazz basses and P basses. For instance, it has been a long time since I walked into Guitar Guitar in Newcastle and saw something that I really wanted to try, never mind buy! I have long been a fan of buying used rather than new when it comes to basses. Really, I would prefer it if all shops made more of an effort to stock second hand items. Best of luck with the shop, keep in touch here and let us know what you have in.
 10. I just think its a bad way to go about selling things. Primarily because I enver even bother PM'img offers to people who won't be upfront and name their price. I have bought basses through the sales pages in the past by clicking a thread about a bass that sounds cool and then seeing the price and thinking that it might well be worth picking up. If I don't see a price, I won't bother looking into it any further. I rarely set out to buy a bass, rather I spot something I like the look of with a price that I consider reasonable and I have a think about buying it. If the seller isn't forthcoming with a price in the thread, I'm just too lazy to bother asking!
 11. That is a very cool sounding jazz bass! Love the tone one the fingerfunk parts of the video!
 12.
I want to sell mine but I'm unsure what to ask. I would like a minimum of £2000, as the serial number is 610. However, I can't decide what to do, as the price amy suddenly rocket.
You'll be lucky to sell it for that in this recession.
 13. Yeah, I find that my Thumb 4 balances really well, it's an absolute joy to play standing or sitting! And that is something which really surprised me after I heard the usual moans sbout Thumb basses! However, it has really stepped up in becoming my #1 bass. It just does everything I want, and the fact that it plays and looks amazing is a huge bonus. The sound is the main factor for me, and it's so unique. Nothing else compares to a Thumb!
 14.
That photo also makes me sad because I was a few stone slimmer then.
Wern't we all!
 15.
Definitely try before you buy. Bubinga is very dense and makes the bass very heavy. The Corvette is also available in Swamp Ash which would make it lighter and more comfortable to play if you play standing up for long periods. Nothing a nice wide strap can't counter-act, but definitely try before you buy.
Mind you, the Bubinga model sounds very different to the Ash model (and it sounds waaaaay better too IMO!). They are such different beasts, and when you hear a Bubinga one you'll realise why they cost more!
 16. Yes, the Spirit series can be nice basses, but the "real deal" 1980's models are indeed the stuff of legend. I'd own one if I could find one!
 17.
Pino - bringing bass goodness wherever he goes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gW6WcwNirk This Pino line is pretty cool.
 18. If this were fretless I'd snap it up! I'm after a fretless thumb to go with my fretted - it seems the Thumb is a bass you just can't own one of!
 19.
Cool to see Mark with a Fender - though it makes me want a proper Status even more. He had a really short Fender period didn't he?
Indeed, although IIRC they were a limited run of 42 and apparently suffered from some quality control issues! However, much like the GB basses he uses on the Ohne Filter dvd, the main problem with them in my mind is that they just don't sound that great! Especially not next to everything else Mark has played over the years!
 20. Very good news indeed! I have a '99 Thumb with a rather slim neck on it (for a Warwick, anyway!). I much prefer that profile to some of the clubbier models of the new millenium.
 21. Basses: Aside from a couple of Alembics and Wals, mainly custom made Warwick Thumbs, fretted and fretless. Amps: Jonas Hellborg's Warwick stuff. In fact, I'd try and pay Jonas for a couple of lessons because he is one of my all time favourite players. I still can't play Escape like he does!
