1. used it last night at our show. what a difference it makes to my razorback -WOW! i even had someone try to buy the bass off me. wasn't so great with my demonator, but with my machine / pyro bass, it sounded pretty sweet. all in all £35 well spent i feel!
2. i ordered this little beauty on tuesday out of sheer curiosity really. all in it cost around £35 delivered, and all i can say is that it sounds awesome! it does exactly what it says on the tin - bass boost. apparently it's a derivative of the LPB1 booster affecting only the low end. i tried it in a straight to DI situation this evening, and it turned a meh sounding peavey international into a 'thumping you in the chest monster' I shall be using it in my band's next show on sunday evening, and also through the 32k rig at my church gig on sunday morning. Time will tell!
3. neither are dean / bill lewington. apparently there are quite a few companies boycoting the event over their charges, and the whole retail thing. if i can blag myself a freebie, then i'll be going, otherwise i'm not going to pay £14 for the day
4. interesting thoughts. there seems to be a culture of putting down all kinds of gear dependant on whether it is 'flavour of the month' or not. it does beg the question of how many people have actually tried the gear being commented on rather than blindly repeating someone else's opinion read elsewhere. i admit it - i really like most high end marshall bass gear. DBS, VBA etc however i don't find much in the MB series that i like. Shame really - the concept sounds great!
5. i heartily recommend the Nady encore 200 Bass system. it's a belt pack type system, but sounds absolutely massive. all the other systems i've used - Sennheiser Freeport and ew100, Audio Technica, Akg have all lost some oomph in the bottom end. Not so with the Nady. it sounds fantastic! retails around the £100 mark. well worth checking out!
6. a friend of mine has a dean Z - it's a cracking bass, and sounds huge. there are no issues with neck dive, and looks the bizzle
7. quite intrigued! never seen them before
8. cancelled on the 24th! rumour has it the place may be going. although we have been double booked there before. not too sure what the real story is, and are waiting to find out. we're at the Marina fountain in St leonards ( just along the coast) on Saturday, if you fancy popping along?
9. bought a Dean Demonator from this guy. couldn't have been any easier. Friendly, helpful, and an all round nice chap!
10. a friend of mine had the same experience - ordered online, they emailed and told him item had been shipped. two weeks later, there was no sign of the item, so he caled them and they told him it was out of stock. that's another company i won't use for online sales!
11. glad to hear it went well mate. we're playing down there on the 25th. let's hope the crowd remain as enthusiastic!!
12. should go down well mate. the jukebox down there is rammed with quality tunes too! there is also a poster of nashville p*ssy i do quite enjoy looking at!!
13. just don't believe everyting you read on the internet! it's not such a bad pub. we play there regularly and the only trouble we have is getting the punters in (the staff tell us that it's unusual to say the least to play to more than about 60). the staff are pleasant enough, and there shouldn't be any financial worries.
14. it won't be able to power a whammy
15. i still love your old m80 mate. currently using it as a di/ splitter in the studio (going to my old WEM valve combo) it's a cracking pedal - a really useful thing to have in the old case for emergencies! every one of my students gets the talk about the swiss army knife of pedals too! - to date three of them have been out and bought them!
16. Gas attack!!!
17. Hi Jim. I teach in Gravesend. How long have you been playing? what kind of styles are you after? PM me and we'll chat!!
18. as you say, the answer to this question is what style are you playing? for worship stuff, i need to cover a lot of sounds, so my board is quite expansive.(approx. 10 plus tuner) for Rock - drive into fuzz (with DI/pre according to venue) for funkier things - qtron, wah, a drive, and comp (occaisionally a flanger too - but that would make five!) for jazz - chorus / flange, comp.
19.
what are those two pedals in top left corner?
they look like cranetortoise pedals, but i couldn't tell you the models
20. phil - you're right the mighty thunderbolt is in tropical St Leonard's on friday - sorry mate. as far as priest goes, i was going to drive to save the last minute dash for the tube thing - let me know of you're up for it ( there is space for a coule of extras!)
