    I have the combo version of the Spyder head (550 Touring), excellent amp, not being a natural bass player I probably don't use the amp to its full potential. However, it produces the sound I like and has plenty of Oomph. I too changed the stock valves to JJ's due to one of the chinese valves going microphonic, Ashdown sent a new set of JJ's as the amp is still under warranty. If I had the spare cash I would certainly be interested in buying your head as I have another side project I looking at. Lee

    Hi, Good luck with the sale of these but you may find that SAI PA speakers are not really as sought after as there guitar speaker cabs and valve heads, also, SAI wasn't a major player back in the day so their name isn't as well known in other parts of the UK and further afield. Lee

    I used to have the same Ashdown combo and found it lacked a bit Oomph due to only running at 8-ohms, so I added the 1x15" deep cab. It gave me the full 300w at 4-ohms and plenty of bottom end, the only trouble I found was that there wasen't an awful lot of definition in the sound, especially when playing higher notes (frequencies). In theory I would have been better buying the Mag 210T combo and adding a 15" deep cab underneath as opposed to 2 15" speakers. I eventually sold the Mag300 and bought the newly released 550 Touring that came out in June of last year, awesome amp with bags of power, 550w at 4-ohms and 350w at 8-ohms, even though it is a 2x10 it still produes plenty of bottom end, as yet there isn't a 15" cab to go with it unless I used one of the standard Ashdown ABM or MAG ext cabs, but then it wouldn't look right.     Apparently it has only been in production for just over a month or so and is proving to be a very successful amplifier so far, if you like a nice punchy sound this is the amp. Has bass, Mid and treble shifts so you can alter different frequencies up the eq ladder, plus it has a handy mute switch. This model is different to most other Ashdowns where you set the input gain via the VU metre before setting your output volume, on this amp the VU metre only comes in to operation on the master gain, so you can turn your master gain down and your input gain up to overdrive the valves etc, or the other way round for a nice clean tone.     A couple of weeks or so ago I decided to sell on my Ashdown Mag 300 C115 cab and ext deep 1x15 speaker as I wanted a rig with a bit more Oomph and a tighter punchier sound as my 2x15's had plenty of low end wallop but not much definition. Not being a bass player by trade I made a school boy error and bought a slightly under powered 1x15 combo that would only give out 307w at 4 ohms, so it ment having to buy an ext cab, which I did but had to be another 1x15 as opposed to a 2x10 as the configurement was the wrong way round for a 2x10. I was looking on buying an Ashdown ABM 500 Evo 3 2x10 combo until I came across this bad boy on the Ashdown website. Instantly liked the look of it as it blended well with the other two lad's Vox AC30's, it turned out to be a hybrid consisting of the Small Block 427 dual valve pre amp and the ABM 500 power stage giving 550w at 4 ohm, as I run it only at 8 ohm it still churns out 350w which is more than my last rig could do. Considering it is a 2x10 configuration it has plenty of bottom end and some serious treble if that is what you want, for me I like a nice gutsy bottom end with a bit treble just to add definition, as I am still finding out about this amp I am sure there are way more sounds I can get out of it. It comes with a passive eq instead of the usual active one, so ajustments are not as great but not as clouded either, you need arms like Geoff Capes too as it is a heavy bastard. I can carry it on my own but don't relish the idea though. The RRP for this amp on the net is £789.00 which I couldn't really afford, so did a bit of searchin and came across an online retailer called "gear4music" based in York, they had the amp advertised for £665.99, I went to my local Ashdown retailer, Rimmers Music in Leyland to see if they could price match it, they did and had the amp delivered two days later, Result! So this bad boy should keep me going for many yrs to come or as long as I try to play bass................... Lee

    DOD PD-6 2000 Digital Sampler Made In The USA Serial No.FX328422 I bought this pedal new in the early 80's and it has never let me down since, comes in full working condition. A bit road worn but not bad considering it is 30+yrs old. Has 3 settings: 2 - Sec 500 - MSec 125 - MSec 3 Knobs: Delay Time, Regen, Mix and two more on the far right - Output & Input Will run on battery or PSU, PSU not included.     I have owned this amp since new and have only used it in the house but already owning a 30+ yr old Vox AC30 this amp isn't getting used.. Comes in nr mint condition, great tone, 40w of pure Class A valve action. Specs: All feature 12AX7 preamp valves for that fantastic ‘hooligan’ British tone, but there are subtle differences through the range, with EL84 power-amp section valves employed in the SC20C and SC40C, and 6L6GC’s in the SC30C and SC50H - so you may just have to try them all out to find your perfect rig.     Hi Folks, I will be in the market in the next couple of weeks for buying another bass amp after selling my Mag C115 300 Evo II and Mag 115 Deep Cab. I have been looking on Ashdowns site and was looking at buying the ABM 2x10" (575w) combo as it has a bit more Oomph, especially when run at 4 ohm, anyway, whilst on there site I came across there Touring range. [url="http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?section=dt&ID=254"]http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.as...n=dt&ID=254[/url] Basically using the ABM power stage with a Tubed pre-amp, the look of this amp is more in keeping with the band I run, we play 60's covers and both guitarists use Vox AC30's, one being an original 1964 copper top and the other being the new CC2x range. So this amp wouldn't look to much out of place at the side of the Vox's, I was thinking of trying to pick up an Vox bass amp of that period but to be honest, Vox never really made a decent bass amp. So does anybody have any info on this Ashdown rig, maybe you have one or have used one? They seem to be a specialist order item at most stockists due to the nature of the amp. Comes in good condition, fitted a new grille that I bought direct from Ashdown last year at the cost of £25.00 due to the original one having a couple of dents in it. I like my equipment to look as good as new if possible, always well looked after.
