1. Can't find it on their site. Any details? Any good? Are they the same company as HK (as in PA's etc)? Interested in trade at all?
2. Why wait 'til 2019? This fine amp(with its XLR out) could be yours. Make me an offer. I'm a reasonable man... In fact, I'm looking for a bigger combo - what model is it? We could do a trade...
3. 'Bought as a prop for a themed restaurant'. What do y'all reckon the theme was?
4. Yup. I fancy I'd string it like that or you'd end up with a right old dog's breakfast.
5. Great! Only one question - where the f**k didja find five other guys who dig the Dead? My guess is they ain't in it for the money...
6. Nice and tidy Roland Cube 100 for sale. I got it new in about 2010/11. Home use and kitchen rehearsals mainly although I have lately done a couple of Mighty Revelators gigs with it and it kept up with two guitars and a drummer without issue. Built in FX - Chorus, Flange, Wah,Delay, Octaver and Reverb plus built in variable compression. Half a dozen onboard amp models though it sounds fine flat to my ears. 12'' Co-axial speaker. 100 watt RMS output. Comprehensive ins and outs - balanced XLR out, record out, extension speaker out, tuner out etc as well as inputs for footswtching the FX. Not mint but by no means battered either. One of the knobs is missing but everything works perfectly. Comes with original manual. I'm in Lancashire and you're welcome to come and try it out. Will pack and despatch if needed at cost. Any questions call me on 07539 237 291 Cheers Shug PRICE REDUCED TO £150
7. I just watched from beginning to end. All sage advice as far as I can see.

9. Dunno about the SKB, but I lately got a Hiscox and it seems pretty good to me. Only drawback is it doesn't have much room for extras - I can only just squeeze a tuner(a fairly large Korg pedal, admittedly} and a couple of cables in. Also, the bass is that snug a fit I can barely get it in with the strap attached and I like to screw the strap on permanent-like. Nice and light, though and feels like it'll be fairly airline proof. So far... Shug
10. Dunno if anyone reads these, but if you're in the Burnley area and have a penchant for soulful, swinging, funky old Blues then why not come on by and check out my favorite blues band deluxe, The Mighty Revelators. Mostly self-penned numbers, snappy and non-indulgent (No endless versions of Red House or Stormy Monday, guaranteed) we'll keep you entertained for a couple of hours. Come up and say hello. We'll have a drink. Get acquainted. Sit awhile... Onstage at 9, Friday 28th Sept, Ighten Leigh Club, Padiham Rd, Burnley, BB12 6SZ.
11. Sounds good to me. Think I'm out but I'll subscribe to your mailing list. Gotta dig the Dead! Shug
12. Try gift wrapping paper. It's quite thin and feathers ok. Also, try tearing the paper round the edges rather than cutting it. If you go on Ebay and search 'Luxury wrapping paper'. There's load of it including some spectacular paisleys. Good Luck!
13. Got a pair of vintage EMG Jazz pickups for sale. Had them fitted to my '76 Jazz - it was the 80's, after all - and they're in perfect working order. As I recall they cost more than I paid for the bass itself way back... Swapped them out for some Custom Shop 60's overwounds a few months back so they now surplus to requirements. Tops a bit marked by my heavy handed technique but nothing major and they come complete with all screws, foam pads, pots, wiring and the jack connector. Will post at cost and they'll be packed in the neat box that their replacements came in. Contact on this site or on 07539 237 291 Cheers Shug
Happy to help! The Apex is a different beast that uses compression techniques to add depth and low end. I'd say this is a better bet for bassists, but given your gear, I'd hope that the Demeter can 'do' enough that the Aphex wouldn't be needed. I suppose the question is, what is it you are hoping the two items would bring to the party?

Happy to help! I suppose the question is, what is it you are hoping the two items would bring to the party? Presence! The Demeter has great tone but, like the Fender amp (Dual Showman?) that it's modelled on - I may be be mistaken here and confusing it with the Alembic F1X - doesn't always project as well as I'd like. Having said that, I've listened to a live recording of The Mighty Revelators this afternoon and the bass sounds just dandy so maybe I'll just forget it. My experience is that, generally speaking, GAS is a sign that your playing's getting a bit stale and you need to practice...

Having used them on bass in the past, they seem fairly pointless, especially if you are the kind of bassist who doesn't like tweeters or plays with a mid present tone. Of the two controls, one is the top end processor the other is only a bass boost at 50hz. That's similar to the bass knob on an amp. They are great for full range material for sure, but that's a lot of hardware just to boost your low end on a bass. Hope that helps.
It does, and I AM that kind of bassist. Cheers, man, I think you may just have saved me £80. The Dood abides... Shug

18. I'm tempted by a 322 model currently on Ebay. Anyone had any experience with one? All info gratefully received Shug
19.
Lots of things have changed since 2010, when there was just one person at Barefaced and it was run out of my garage in my spare time, not least of which that we no longer use: Try another one when you get a chance! Either we're the world's best con artists or thousands of bassists all over the world have a good reason for loving their Barefaced cabs. ;-) Note that we have demo cabs available to test/borrow from the Brighton factory and The Gallery in London and hire cabs available (with or without flight cases) either now or imminently from Brighton Electric, John Henry's in London, STS in Manchester and Third Encore in Los Angeles.
Hey, well, ya gotta respect a fellah who works Sundays! I'm sure a lot has changed in 7 years and there's a learning curve going on for all of us. I would be real interested in trying one of your cabs, particularly the big ones! Do you think they'd be equal to the rigours of the road? Without a flightcase (which would be kind of antithetical to the point of the whole lightweight thing)? I love the look of your stuff and the whole idea of the ultra-light thing has a very obvious appeal. I'm hoping someone local, a BF user, gets in touch and I'll go along to one of their shows and listen and learn. I truly want to believe and nothing would please me more than to use something that's made and designed by an individual on a mission rather than churned out by some massive musicorp conglomerate. I'm interested...
20. My only experience with BF was a 2x15 I bought around 2010. The build quality was kinda flimsy (it got broken in transit despite pretty rigorous packaging by Alex), the corners didn't fit the radius of the cab and whole thing seemed a bit Micky Mouse to me. It didn't sound any good, either. I used it with a couple of good amps - a Marshall VBA400 and a TE SMX - over a couple of gigs and a rehearsal or two and couldn't get a usable sound out of it. I've played for a long time, in a lot of different situations and with a lot of different set ups and neither I nor my drummer ( a pro sound guy) could wring anything approaching a quality noise from it. I gave up in the end and, to be fair, Alex was completely cool about the return and refund. I look at BF's site sometimes and there are a lot of interesting looking products on there and a whole lot of you folks seem pretty sold on 'em but, y'know, pricewise they're right up there at the very top end, use off the shelf drivers (nothing wrong with that) and they do seem a bit Emperor's New Clothes to my eyes. I'm prepared - would be happy, in fact - to be proved wrong on this. Maybe a local BF user would let me know when they're doing a local show. I'd be interested to come along and check it out.
21. Hello Everybody! Update on the ol' Buggerer... Started using it in April and, although I don't take to every gig, it's probably been out 15-20 times and all well so far. Sounds great and doesn't give me any cause for concern. Gets a lot of comps on the bass sound. I'd def. recommend it as a cost effective alternative to an SVT, for sure. I'd put it against one anytime and challenge anyone to tell the difference in a blindfold test. I think I'll start looking around for tatty old 8x10 to put it with...
22.
This, plus, all the celtic folk type music I see played in pubs is pretty improvised on the spot anyway.....which to me is much better than rigid 'doing it by the numbers'
Maybe it's a regional thing, and I'm not an expert in this genre, but my limited observations of the Irish/ Celtic thing make me think that, far from being improvised on the spot most of the pieces are learned by rote and then the agreed forms pretty much rigidly adhered to with little space for extemporising.
