    I have one just the same, with a J retro. Second one I have had. If you get it you won't be disappointed, they are fantastic.

    This is in virtually 'as -new' condition as I think it must have been played for all of about an hour in total. It's a satin finish all round, in spruce with rosewood fretboard. It comes with a very good Roksak gig bag and it has lived all its life in this.     Pretty much as new, including tin and all the gubbins that comes with it. Price includes postage in UK. No trades or offers of girlfriends, chickens or root vegetables, thanks. steve

    If it's parts bass then it's blummin' well matched parts. Glad we got it sorted, went through the same with a Strat - that turned out ok too. Steve

    Yeah yours and mine look pretty much the same and I know about mine so I'd bet my house yours is genuine American. Good news I'd say. Maybe you might want to pick up a Fender branded neckplate off eBay or something just to finish it if you wanted to. steve

    Neck looks spot on. It's only a little sticker and was for basses sold in 96. Yours might be earlier or someone's taken the sticker off. What's the neck end and pocket like?

    Here's mine. Looks like I have a 96 neck and a 95 body. This is genuine as I bought it new. steve

    String through is normally USA or Japanese. The neckplate would say Fender Corona I think for mid 90s. The neck pocket and the neck would have a inked stamp on them that should match. I've got one somewhere in the house, I'll go find it and check. steve

    Do you have an idea of the year it's from? Serial number will be on the front or back of the headstock or on the neckplate. Then we can look at other bits steve

    Thanks for the replies. Bass has twin humbuckers, both on, amp was Markbass CMD121P. Yes the rope light was there previously. I did just switch it off and problem went away. I'm happy to think the issue was with the power and the rope light transformer rather than the amp and bass but you never know!

    Does every band that is playing have to provide their own PA? That would be a nightmare. Normally with this sort of thing the organiser should really provide the PA and all bands use that.

    I read the thread properly if you are referring to me. I was commenting on the fact that you answered a question posted in 2012 (you even quoted in in your post) and I would have hoped that the person asking the question would have received an answer before now. Oh well, these things happen when old thread get resurrected.

    At Friday's gig the venue had a rope light around the stage that was set on a fading pattern. Until I asked them to switch it off there was a terrible buzz coming through my rig, especially during the fading up and down part of the sequence. The lights and amp were plugged in to different sockets. I've played here before with no problems but this time with a different rig and bass. Is this an indication of something wrong with either bass or amp that I need to look at do you think? steve

    It's a semi hollow rather than a full acoustic so has a centre block. I've had no feedback issues whatsoever, and much of the resonance of a hollow is retained so works for me. The Fender Coronado Reissue is the same. steve

    Are you sure the ones in it now are the originals? All three originally were Groove Tubes. I swapped mine out but I can't remember what for. I asked t eguys at Watford Valves and they recommended some for me.

    You're talking £1,500 or so for an original Coronado II, not sure that they're worth that. The reissues are fun though as are the Starcasters. You've also got Gibson Midtown or the Les Paul? Ibanez Artcore? Italia or Hagstrom... lots around. I guess if you have a particular sound in your head then you have to go out and try some!

    The Coronado with the single pickup was the Coronado I - the Coronado II always had two pickups. The reissues are semi hollow, the originals are hollow body (feedback joy). What's your budget and minimum spec? steve

    Maybe the pins can be blunted at the end, like a blind rivet, so that they don't fall out of the ends? steve
