Candy Apple Red' 86 Japanese Precision, complete with thumb rest and pickup covers. The only black bass i own is my Ibanez GSR200, which is beaten to hell and is going to be completely covered in stickers when i can be bothered. Liam
ahhhhh.... it was the lighting, ruining a perfectly good joke.... BTW, that candy apple red P would look lovely with a black guard. (I still have a red/white fender combo fear, i think it's hank marvin's fault)
What makes you think knitting is safe Sharp needles, wool.... can be very dangerous you know
Sadly i have a few scars to prove that knitting is in fact an extreme sport. I was hoping it was just me...... -

"Hey man, can you send me the tabs of this?"
Dave Vader replied to MiltyG565's topic in General Discussion
I agree with discreet However I want Bilbo and Doddy to come in here and tell you all to stop looking at Tabs. If you cannot hear that what you are playing is wrong, then you need to put down the instrument and find a nice safe hobby like knitting. Thus those muppets that write the abysmal tabs on the internet are either the original artists ensuring nobody covers their music properly, or actual muppets. -
NEVER is a strong word - there are several audiences that I have extreme disrespect for! I'm just surprised that it is such a common occurance for Dave...
It must be a Dave thing, i had the same problem when i was doing covers bands. The drunken weirdos telling you that your band is the best band ever. Which is clearly not true. I really hated it, though I did of course thank them and smile politely, as one has to. It's much easier on the originals circuit, nobody even turns up, let alone tells you the liked it.

I generally know both the notes and the intervals I am playing. If it's a sudden transposing of the whole song (happens a lot when you play for a 16 year old with a penchant for sticking the capo in a different place every song) then it has to be all intervals or it will go very wrong.

The contour and colour controls are there on my HB promethean clone amp as well. I have found the best settings for them are to push the little button above them that turns the twatting things off. Looks like that option isn't there on this though.
On what? On whether you own boring basses..?
Yep....
-
I rather hypocritically voted boring. Though I have 2 black basses. I think we need the third option "it depends".
Fixed for you, Dave.
Ideally mark yes.... In the past I have done a couple of freebies, but they were usually in pubs that had let us use rooms for rehearsals for months for nothing, and the free rehearsal agreement came with one gig for nowt as our payment. Also, I once did a gig for free drinks where the landlord regretted it, as paying us would have been a lot cheaper. we were young, we could still take it. Even in the last 6 years or so we had one fairly dim landlord who haggled by dropping the price we asked for by 20 quid and added free drinks to the deal. he also regretted it, we may be older now, but by golly we can still drink (he also agreed to pay for the taxi home, and let us stash the gear in his pub for the night.)

If I'm doing original material, I'm happy to have the gig just cover the costs of petrol etc. If it's covers, then you must pay decent dosh please. If the venue can't afford to pay you, then they can't afford to have bands on. Simple. Apparently prices for bands are going down round here, and this is largely because of groups of either kids, or middle-aged hobbyists happily playing for free, or very little, because they "aren't in it for the money". Good for them, crap for those who actually do need the money, and without the 2nd income from the gigs, would have a pretty crappy standard of living (not me anymore, but was very much this a couple of years ago). Covers for cash, originals for love, Ok? YMMV

Lucky you. I am incapable of saving up to buy anything decent. Luckily I am very fond of my old cheap crap. Still very jealous though. I love Rickys.

Do you tell your work colleagues that you play bass?
Dave Vader replied to mentalextra's topic in General Discussion
Yep. they also know I play a bunch of other instruments and regularly appear at local events pissed as a twat and singing terrible songs with my acoustic guitar. It is a very small town. They also allow me to take very cheeky time off for gigs they know are important to me, so it's all good. To be fair, looking like I do, people generally ask if I am a musician as soon as they meet me, it would be stupid to say no, especially at my age. -
Kate Bush Tribute need bassist Devon / Cornwall / SW

Hounds of Love, then everything else. (Hi Lisa btw, still too busy sadly) -
I discovered the joy of bass as a bedroom bassist. I was a guitar player in loads of bands for 20 years, then I got asked to do a dep gig on bass because I owned one, and while learning the songs by playing along with Live and Dangerous in my studio, I realised I really enjoyed it. So I don't really play guitar so much anymore, Admittedly I don't play on my own so much, but some of the happiest minutes of my life have involved putting Black Sabbath vol 4 on the turntable and plugging my bass in.

I got offered one of these back in the 90s for a pittance. Luckily it seems not to have gained in value, so I am not so bothered.
Not rock in the musical sense but there is a rock just randomly lying on my girlfriends bedroom floor. No idea how it got there (she doesnt either) but its been there for about 18 months and it feels wrong to move it. Its like having a pet rock.
Yay! The 80s are back. -
Yeah I had the same issue with it. Obviously a behringer design flaw the rubber feet thing solved it though
Thank you, am going to have it apart later to see if I can do this.
