I listened, I liked (a lot) I now want all reggae music to be in welsh (that one in welsh was my favourite by the way, closely followed by politician and that one about tattoos). As usual no idea what the titles were, cos I was washing the dishes while I listened, but me and the pets loved it. Thanks.

Thanks Steve, I am no stranger to buying pints for soundmen and having a sly word about levels, I used to be one myself, and I am aware that if nobody tells you what they want, how the heck are you supposed to know what they want. Hope we manage to get oop norf at some point as well -
Well done Garry, well deserved.

Right, i have you followed on soundcloud now, no way I can forget to listen to this later.... hopefully...

am at work, so can't listen to stuff here, will as usual make a mental note to go and listen to tacsi, and then as usual get home, hook the computer up to the speakers and completely forget what I did it for, and then fail to listen to tacsi again. Apologies to all, i do this a lot.... -
Nice crusade, Nige :-) I've seen several Basschatters live, and have enjoyed the music of many others, either by buying a CD or just listening online. I've found that diverting time from the endless string of threads on 5 strings, fenders, which amp, narwhale tusk v cameltoe nut etc. and listening to the competition entries is time well spent. I've even spread the love by sending a link to Dave Vader's Rola Cola song to a mate, who loves it.
I think I love you Roland If you are ever in Devon i will buy you a drink, and possibly have your babies (if we can find a way) Seriously, thanks a lot mate, dead good of you. -
I only come on BC at work, never have the time at home, and I can't listen to music at work... ... but yeh I do feel very guilty, considering some BCers have been very nice about my bands' music
This mainly (despite currently being on at home, and hooked up to decent speakers) However, when I am at home on a PC with speakers, it is usually because I am doing some kind of musically based work which requires use of said speakers. I try to listen to fellow BCers stuff while I have wee breaks, and I generally manage to vote in the Composition Competition, and am trying to get time to listen to the mixing one as well. Nige is very right, and I also must add, that the Missus doesn't like it much when I slope off to sit at a computer without her, and only occasionally believes me that I am listening to music. Modern life gets in the way, if this had existed back when I was 15 it would have been perfect. And any time any of you are playing in Hatherleigh, I will come. Takes a lot to get me to go to Exeter/Plymouth on a night out mind. -

cheers mark. -
I pretty much always have a waistcoat on, but then I am a dickensian tramp, so no surprises there....
-
Excellent stuff, keep up the good work Mark. We need more filth like this in the mainstream.
How about an actual sandwich at the end?
Ok, so what kind of sandwich? My vote goes for the most rock and roll sandwich ever, the deep-fried peanut butter and cheese as designed by Elvis.
-
Oh and my vote went to in case we're all interested....
Lurksalot, cos it was brilliant and sounds like what I normally do.

Dave Vader: Superbly quirky, funny, borderline insane and very well played/produced. This one caught me by surprise and the lyrics/theme genuinely made me LOL. I like it! Funky baseline right from the off and the guitar parts work well too - damn you multi-instrumentalists!! (I'm jealous ). There's perhaps too much 'verb on the vocals but I understand you had some mic issues - no big deal and a minor criticism to
Thanks Paul, I am still struggling with mixing vocals right, and blaming my Sm58 for it. Also there was no way I had the time to double track them properly like I normally would with this one, so the shifted second track added extra verbyness. I was trying to hide my terrible voice in effects, and maybe went too far. Might buy myself a condensor, and then use a lampshade, old sofa foam, a coathanger and some old tights to sort the extra reflections etc. Might not make next month, as I have been challenged to write a folk album by a friend and want to knock it out in a month. Unless the picture fits what I'm doing....

Thanks Paul, and thanks once again for your damn near successful fiddling with Cage a lion. Now I've bounced them down to mp3 there's very little difference. Hopefully we'll have some live dates soon, festival season is coming... -
To keep things simple (or a least only less complex) the main design will be fretted, we'll run through any ideas for a fretless version at a later date. Bolt on or through neck? Good question, I've always fancied a through neck so I'll vote for that.
Ok, 24 frets then, and a through neck, so it can look like a sandwich at the end.
-
maple maple. No frets.
-
been hearing this on the radio a lot, keep forgetting her name, but yes yes and double yes. Really interesting and decent stuff.

teazer you say? and linked from this very thread is this picture.....

I've done a bunch of recordings using no more than an sm57 and an sm58. The vocals are not as nice as they could be, but for everything else these two work just fine. Only reason I have both is they are leftovers from my old PA rig when I used to do PA hire for a (not very good) living. Otherwise I would just have the 58 and take the pop shield off Quite tempted to get one of them things skol has cos he gets great results with it. I've also got a focusrite saffire pro24 for an interface, does 4 inputs at once (which I sometimes need for one of my more interesting instruments) and sounds great. Set me back 250 though, and may not have been worth it for what I have been doing with it. And yes, I have put my old vox guitar amp in the bathroom and distance mic'd it a few times, it sounds excellent. As was the session I did in the kitchen while it was being rebuilt and gutted. Crazy reverbs.....

Probably no replies because it seems perfectly reasonable.

Misleading name isn't it? Does have a lot of valves about the place though. -

And here's the first original track to be released off of it. https://soundcloud.com/carnivala/cage-a-lion Btw, if you do like it, please actually click the like button on the soundcloud page, as we are also using it to try and get a fairly great slot ot Sunrise festival in the summer. Obviously if you don't, then don't. -
Voted, couldn't not vote for that once I'd heard it, utterly lovely. Not telling who though.
