  1. Thanks naxos10, I think that's a fair reflection.
  2. Thank you kind sir. The specs are quick to do so here goes: Alder body, light colour veneer and a Cocobolo top (with matched headstock) Neck is 3-pc with birdseye maple on the outer bits and plain maple in the centre Rosewood board Pickups are the ACG FB items that are essentailly humbucking in nature Electronics are J East Uni Pre 3-band active passive with variable mids sweep and active/passive tone control I'll do my best to do a review for you all once I've completed the requisite number of running in time hours.
  3. Here's a rather lovely RetroB Mr C made for me and that I formally received yesterday. Looks better still in the flesh. These are ACG pics as I've been too busy playing it to take any pics.
  4. Yeah, but are they any good for metal? I think we should be told...
  5. Hi all For sale are a set of Delano Jazz JMVC 4 FE/M2 pickups that came out of a Sandberg bass. They are pretty new and in good condition. They are £170 at Bass Direct so grab yourself a bargain. This set have the longer bridge pickup so slot in to many Fender type basses. Now sold elswhere.
  6. Hi y'all For sale are some lightly used La Bella 760FL flatwounds. The are only 3 months old and came on a fretted bass that I have just acquired. But I prefer rounds so these are up for grabs. They are cut for a 4-in-line Fender style headstock so should fit most things. £25 posted UK Mainland. Thanks for looking.
  7. Just bought a beatiful Sandberg bass from Grant and, bonus, got to meet a fellow BCer. Great bass and a lovely bloke too. Top banana, deal in confidence folks.
  8. Adam bought some strings from me. Easy transaction, great comms fast payment. Top bloke, deal in confidence folks.
  9. Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, it's been lodged there for a few days now.
  10. I'd also recommend giving Mark a call at Classic & Cool Guitars as his prices are normally better than BD for Sandbergs.
  11. I'm not a big Delano fan tbh. My VS now has a Nordy NP4 in and the incoming TT will be getting a set of Bartolini B Axis p/ups as an experiment as I've not tried them before and have picked up a pre-loved set for not much money.
  12. Picking up my new jazz on Sunday...
  13. Now sold, many thanks for all the interest folks.
  14. It is, and I think we all agree it's very Marmite. Whilst I personally wouldn't buy one I have absolutely no issue with them offering that finish. Don't Sandberg make the best Fenders nowadays?.....I'll get my coat before all the Fender zealots arrive.
  15. For sale is a set of the above that very briefly lived on a Precision bass so will go on pretty much anything. Good condition. £25 posted UK mainland. Thanks for looking.
  16. There's a good value Peavey fretless on here too, plus a few others come to think of it.
  17. My first fretless was one a Yamaha RBX270F just like this one. I got it for £90. Solid basses and much to like about them. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-RBX-270F-Fretless-Bass-Guitar/283163749815?hash=item41eddfedb7:g:FL0AAOSwjYdbcG0G
  18. This^ I have bought a couple new, both California IIs and both around £1,100. The Masterpiece range are mad money and frankly I'd rather save a bit longer and buy a genuine vintage Fender (which I did ). For an everyday working bass Sandberg basses are beautifully made, have fantastic necks and as a bonus are pretty light. Both mine are around 3.7kgs or just over 8lbs in old money. Don't do too badly in terms of holding their value either. In fact I'll be picking up a pre-loved one at the weekend.
  19. I play it in drop D because for me that's the easiest way to play on a 4 string bass. I suspect it goes down well because a lot of folk enjoy hearing stuff they know and can sign along to. Frankly, if you you are a bit sniffy about this then you probably shouldn't be in a covers band. Write you own stuff. I also play in an originals band. Maybe that makes me more chilled about playing jukebox rock in the covers band. Who knows, but taste is a very personal thing and if everyone had to like the same music as dictated by the taste police then what a dull world we would live in..
  20. Here, here! I enjoyed the show but then Kylie might be a bit marmite for serious musicians. I have a Sandberg bass or two that i rate highly, in fact I'd go as far as to Sandberg make the best Fenders . Also a BF cab and a talent deficit
  21. You may have to get one made for you. ACG have turned out a few s/s ERDs but not sure about the weight. My 34" scale ACG 4s weight around 3.6 to 3.8kgs so I can't see why a seriously lightweight 5er isn't a goer. Alan has some particularly lightweight bodies he has been making. I'd have to go and look at the site though as i can't remember. I also have a Sandberg VS at 3.4kgs.
  22. Interestingly (or maybe not), I ended up taking two P to rehearsal last night. My '66 and an American Std made around 45 years later. In isolation I love and gig both of them but I was surprised that they sound quite different. They both have nickel rounds on and have the original fit p/ups and electronics. If forced to choose I'd still pick the '66 which I would describe as smoother and more rounded while the 2011 is definitely the punchier of the two. I imagine the age of the wood must play a small part in all of this.
