    The Shires in Manchester afew years ago. Thought I'd give country music a go but really not my thing. I did manage the first half though and remember being impressed by the number of stetsons and cowboy boots in the Greater Manchester area.

    I had an Antonia J bass that was essentially two bits of butchers block with a thin veneer of something-or-other in the top, middle & bottom. Sounded great but was a bit hefty.

    Just realised I've been guilty of some sloppy copy/paste activity. These are ETB92 standard (long scale) strings that were on a Fender 34" scale bass.

    I put a Nordstrand NP-4 in mine that was just the job. Quite expensive but was able to find one pre-loved (on here IIRC).

    Using 'grab in a fire' test, and given that I have two hands, I'd go for these two: ACG fretless, the first custom bass I ever owned, stunning to play and quite easy on the eye too: And slightly surprised myself by chosing my '66P bass for the other hand.

    I recently acquired a bass with a pretty much new set of these strings fitted. I have tried them in the past and not really for me so available for the modest sum of £30 posted UK mainland. New they are about £50 I think. The gauges are 50/65/85/105 and have been cut for a Fender 34" scale 4-in-line headstock. The silks are in good condition, but let me know if you'd like a pic. Please note that I don't have the original packaging.

    No, they are the Sadowsky variant. The std fit Sandberg knobs, partiularly the black ones, are not my favourite things as you cannot see at a quick glance what the settings are so I routinely swap them out.

    I had a VM with the P bass pickup in the Fender configuration, probably made it a bit easier to get the sound. I used to put the bass into passive and blend fully to the P pickup and mess with the tone (treble pot in passive mode).

    Fair point. Maybe they need a re-issue range for this as the Cali IIs that you see a fair few with relic finish are much more recent. Not against it by any means as it's a really individual thing and taste in all things should never be by diktat (unless you're on the Rickenbacker forum of course).

    My new Sandberg must be due soonish, can't wait tbh. I think things go in waves on the For Sale section not sure if there is too much science behind it. I sell stuff so I can buy other stuff. Sandberg relics are a bit of a curiosity for me. For some reason I'm cool with things like the Limelight relics of old Fenders but less so with relics of other brands that only sprang into life in the 80s/90s etc. Maybe I'm just very shallow.

    Like that a lot (and the growling ). I concur with @Eldon Tyrell in that just a little more bass would have been nice. Good sound though.

    Completely wrong; no.1 of course . Plus if you go 70s ask them to put the bridge pickup in the right place.
