1. As above. Top bloke, I have both sold him a bass and purchased one from him. He does the Limelight basses too.
2. I subscribe, but only just in the sense that I find the reviews increasingly annoying. I'd like to believe what Bluejay says but I don't think the evidence supports it. I find the reviews pretty anodyne as in not wanting to offend and any opinions expressed are pretty guarded to the point of being mostly oblivious. Main frustrations with the gear reviews: When you get £5k basses getting 9/10 for value when there's nothing in the text to really support that score, and frankly there should be for those eye-watering prices. When some features are commented on adversely and score of 8/10 or 9/10 still appears. Why so few affordable bass reviews? Why is when a specific feature is mentioned that is a bit unusual that there is never a photo of it? I could go on....

5.
I haven't chosen a luthier yet, I'm far too busy making sure the surfs on my estate have adequate hovels.
Adequate hovels; far too generous sir!
6. Audio Technica AD700s for me (with a Tascam MP-BT1).
7. We start with a short medley, Django/Just Got Paid/Cocaine, seems to go down pretty well and builds nicely.
8. I think there was a post on the Wanted topic from somebody looking for a good value starter bass for a kid.
9. Another nickel fan, however I quite like the standard fit Sandberg s/steel strings. No idea who makes them though.
10.
The Tubes in Brighton on Saturday week, then Gun in Pompey the following Thursday
Whoa, I remember seeing The Tubes back at uni in the late 70s early 80s. Great show, didn't know they were still doing it. Is it still Fee Waybill (or something like that).
11. For something very traditional then this (although still one year to young to be a YOB bass): http://basschat.co.uk/topic/279337-1961-fender-precision-bass/ Or maybe this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/290573-warwick-thumb-nt-4/
12. This is a very dangerous thread for those afflicted by GAS, trying not to look...and failing miserably. Will report back.
13. I gig all my basses, almost on a rotation basis. General rule of thumb for me is if you don't gig it, why did you buy it.
14. Young Mr Dood recently sold me a Fender Japan 62RI Precision that I am rather enjoying.
15.
Joanne - Shaw Taylor at the local Picturedrome, Friday.
Good venue. Seeing JST in Manchester in January.
16. Just stumbled across this topic. Excellent stuff, loving all the tiny details.
17.
Aynsley Lister in Bury tonight.
...and bloody good it was too.
18. Well I have several ACGs and only one Fender. I find the individual attention you get from a top luthier, in my case from Alan at AC, is invaluable in providing advice and guidance on the build. I think the back street garage comparison is not really comparing apples with apples so I'll let it be. It's is of course a very personal thing and many people don't like 'coffee table' basses. I just happen to admire the attention to detail, the craftmanship and the complete dismay of the luthier if the bass is not perfect for the customer.
19. I have these for my ACGs, top bags in my view: https://www.fusion-bags.com/collections/guitar-gig-bags/products/f1-bass-guitar-gig-bag
20. Jetglo Ricki. Saved for ages to buy one and then was massively disappointed by it. Tried to get on with it for around 15 months then ended up selling it (for a modest profit).

22. Mine was just like this one, cost me £90 iirc. http://www.ebay.co.u...U4AAOSwmLlX3sUR
23. Deffo Yamaha. My first fretless was a pre-loved Yamaha RBX270F bought on Fleabay, pretty decent and eventually sold it on for roughly what I paid for it four years later. Good basses.
24. There's clearly a trend here and a good reason why there is so much positive feedback for Dan. It's because Dan is a... Top banana! Just acquired a Fender P bass from Dan and everything was tickety boo, so thanks very much for the perfect transaction.
