Barefaced 3rd Generation product range upgrades

I think the 69Er is still going, the modular and big series are the line that have been updated (afaik). -

That's outrageous!! Was it not fully insured? They've trashed it through negligence! -
Ampeg SVT 3 Pro - your thoughts, ladies and gents?
Salt on your Bass? replied to JapanAxe's topic in Amps and Cabs
I had a 3 pro for around 4 years. Really enjoyed it with the tube gain and master cranked and bringing the gain up to taste. I ran it with ashdown mag 210 and 115 and it always did the job volume wise. Struggled oncertain in a marquee with a boomy stage, but still had enough in it. I experienced a fault once but it still ploughed on. I ended up changing for a light weight option, now have an Ashdown and I haven't really missed it. It was my first proper rig and I had a real thing for ampeg at that point. If ampeg sound is what you're after, it'll do it well. Then again, so does the vt Bass and a power Amp, without the ampeg logo of course! -

Looks great, but 1599 for a class d?? -
I can't believe this! Genz has such a good rep, taken years to build and is real quality. Why would a company demolish all that hard work?

Congratulations - spectacular rig! I can't imagine you (or your neighbours) are getting much sleep at the moment!!! -
Great option! Depends how loud your band are and how efficient that 410 is, as well as venues. 250w should be ok, but maybe on the cusp. 300 is the standard guide for gigging - circumstance dependent. Second hand on here is a good way to go and if guys have feedback then safe. You could have the same probs with something new if it fails. As well as the above, Hartke provide good bang per buck, and gk.

I'm pretty careful with my gear off stage but my Ibanez had a soft finish and through swinging the guitar about during gigs it caught my belt buckle quite a bit resulting in rash. My t bird has a lacquer finish and wears a lot harder but there's a couple of minor scratches on it and I can't for the life of me understand how they happened. I think wear is normal and makes a Bass unique to you. I also like the relationship and memories that some marks invoke.

I ended up carting a full size fan with mine and had it on my rig (and hair) the whole time - epic! Rack is the most common solution with these as they are a bit notorious for overheating. Other than that, I always liked the head. Vest of luck!

What have you got GAS for at the mo?
Salt on your Bass? replied to action_panzer's topic in Bass Guitars
Gassing after a 5 string sg, albeit I've never liked them before! And squier jaguar. And either a MatAmp gt200 or aguilar db751. Kinda learning to ignore it and find if you wait long enough, it goes round in circles......always a moving target! -
Squier troy Sanders jaguar mmmm
Salt on your Bass? replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Bass Guitars
Yeah, been checking those out today! Look nice just need to find a local stockist to try em. Interesting the amount of endorsements troy takes on - is he using orange, mesa and tc at the moment? -

Looks nice be interested in how it plays. Shame it's not 5 string. -
I tried a few and ended up with a Roland Bass cube 20 which has some nice options. Didn't get to try the orange.

I run an abm ii head with a 410. I find the tone is thick, bassy and pillowy. It works for me albeit I'm changing my cab as I want a little more definition. I like the features on the amp as well. Bear in mind one mans thick and pillowy is another's mud. As above, get out and play what you're hoping to buy and if possible with your band.

Using a bass head (MAG300 Evo ii) without a cab
Salt on your Bass? replied to offhegoes's topic in Amps and Cabs
That's interesting - I didn't realise it was down to the transformer, I always thought it was valve related. Any examples of amps that fit that type?? Thanks -

I need to get this right! Pre amp pedal into an amp...
Salt on your Bass? replied to Musicman20's topic in Amps and Cabs
Do you want to use it as the preamp and bypass the integrated amp preamp? If yes, you'll need to go from the pedal to the effect return/receive (or however its labelled) so the tonehammer is feeding the power amp direct. Your amp preamp controls will then be redundant. If you just want it as a dirt box then into the front of the amp will do it. You'll need to power both the amp and the pedal. -
The first manufacturer that builds an 8x10 with all it's faults regarding the cab tuning but half the weight they will be millionaires!
I think that was the objective with the '69er. I don't really have a lot of experience with premium big cabs - I'm running a 410 presently and compared to some of the light weight options I've used in the last 2 years, the light weight out performed my current cab. All the 810s I've ever come across live and rehearsal rooms have always been pony in my view, but they were all pretty beaten up and not bergs etc. I guess the only way to find out if it works for you is to try and compare, but obviously difficult when lead times and a lot of cash is involved.

Yup, as above. Not sure on your budget but for valve stuff, combo, I'd consider mesa walkabout, orange, ebs (not sure if there's a valve in there). Additionally, maybe consider separates such as genz Benz, gk and Tc electronics....... For starters!
