  9. I went in this thinking, that’s an easy song. I remember the album original and it’s sparse “swing” feel but wow!. Some freedom for the big man and by Jove he exploits it! Really magical! It’s as if he’s playing it in a three piece band!
  10. Wee chat from the man backing up earlier posts.
  11. Thoroughly enjoyed the humour, fear, sweat and processes of this thread. Thank you....I’ve said hello on twitter too!
  12. Rio is a brill line but my nomination is always Silly Love Songs by Wings.... Actually....the comments underneath the song as very interesting.
  13. Saw him at Murrayfield in mid 80s with Icehouse supporting Thompson Twins and Bowie. Has a wee chat on Twitter (or on here?) about this when I saw a wee clip of him talking about this! He’s a (very) top man and I appreciate his effort in communicating some minor joy! ps...loved his wink at Good Times by Chic!
  14. Oh....”Don’t Give Up” was written with Dolly Parton in mind but her people said “No...”
  15. Just watched Classic Albums, “So” by Peter Gabriel. Larry Klein did Mercy Street (“So I put in 10th’s”) But Tony Levin spoke about Sledgehammer and how he used a fretless, octaver and a pick (rare for him). Biggest revelation was on “Don’t Give Up” where, and I paraphrase, “I started looking for foam to dampen the strings, then I remembered, I had lots of diapers in my bass case because of my 2 month old daughter. I had assumed England wouldn’t have any. So I packed one under the strings and ever since then , Peter and Dan (Lanois) have called that the Big Deep Nappy Bass sound.” Now you know unless you knew before! Any other trivia ?
  16. Oh Lord...
