    My Trace is incredibly dry and brittle without any tweaking. With tweaking it can be glassy clear or fuzzy wuzzy warm.

    My MIM 2009 Jazz has very nice pickups. Apparently the 2009, and possibly later, had upgraded pickups. (not sure how they are upgraded) I can't fault the sound.

    If the buzz occurs on the first few frets then perhaps you need to relax the truss rod. OR use a ruler to see if the frets are level.
