Kev's Feedback

Bought a Proton Filter from Kev - such a straightforward and easy transaction! Item arrived very quickly too and was exactly as described/well packed - a great guy to deal with and would definitely deal with again.
  2.
I love the DB 112. 2 x DB112 doesn't hurt your back.
+1 Around 7 years ago I was rushed into hospital unable to move - 3 discs had prolapsed in my lower back - too many years of playing rugby and also lifting (2) 4x10 Trace Elliot cabs in and out of my car so, inevitably I was forced to downsize. I purchased some MarkBass cabs/F1 head which I used for around 6 years. Earlier this year I was hit by a serious bout of GAS and decided that I wanted a more substantial rig again, so I bought a DB750 and a pair of DB112's - the cabs are comfortable for me to carry (I can manage one in each hand if need be), the head is a bit lumpy/awkward but well worth the effort as it sounds immense. I'd love another 4x10 (or two!) but commonsense must prevail - I've never yet been left wanting more from this rig - it's just great.
  3. Cheers for all the positive comments guys! I'm thinking I may try another project - perhaps a P/J config? Never tried one but have always fancied one.
  4. Cheers guys - I'm truly gobsmacked how good it sounds! It's definitely a keeper for sure.
  5. So I've always had a preference to playing a Jazz Bass since my late teens, but over the years I've often been tempted by (and owned one or two) a nice P Bass, despite however many I've tried, I've never really been happy with them when gigging as I've found more often than not they get lost in the mix? So I thought I'd gotten to grips with the dreaded GAS, but here's my latest, self build P Bass. Warmoth Standard P Body, Mighty Mite P neck with Fender waterslide decal, Fender tuners with extender, Badass II bridge, DiMarzio P pickups (had these laying around for a while waiting for a project), CTS pots, Switchcraft jack, Rotosound RS66LD 45 - 105, Dunlop Straplocks. This was my first self build project, I gigged it last night and it sounded way better than I thought it would, I'd expected to play maybe a handful of songs with it and then reach for my trusty Jazz, but it was an absolute gem to play and certainly didn't sound muddy - although with the tone control wound off it certainly can. I did have to fettle around with the nut - needed quite a bit of filing to get the action to a decent level, but on the whole the set up was quite straight forward and certainly worth it. Definitely re-kindled my interest in P's now.

  10.
Made a couple of changes this weekend; changed out some dirt in the lower left corner (Solid Gold FX is new, Cusack Screamer Bass replaced a Wampler Euphoria in the Wonderlove loop) and swapped places on the Suhr Buffer (now first) and [sfx] Micro Thumpinator (now last).
Nice tidy board dude - looks good.
