1.
Matt, Had the control plate apart now, looks like I've got ~ 4.5k between black and white, and about the same between red and green, seeming to suggest it's the same as the SD wiring colour code (it appears that when in series it didn't matter if black and green were reversed). In that case, I'm going to use the SD colour scheme and switching arrangement - I've got a spare DPDT toggle knocking about at home. Tasks for tomorrow will be to re-dress the control cavity wiring (BTW it ain't screened either!) and fit the switch as well as drill 'n' fill a couple of holes with stripped threads. Ta muchly fella, Ian
Did you ever finish this mod? Did wiring n parallel make the sound brighter and quieter? I see you are still logging in to BC!
2. Anything by Mr Burt Freeman Bacharach...reminds me of Sunday mornings with the stereogram on, just before Sunday lunch...
3. 12800 after a lifetime of motorsports on very loud bike, karts and cars....I do know I have a 'frequency hole' in my right ear which I think was from kart racing...I had to take a 3 monthly hearing test when I worked for Lucas CAV and worked in a cold room area. good find.
4.
Saw them at Bristol Colston Hall in 1836. Great band (it wasn't Pino on bass but I cannot remember who it was)
Both Richard and Peter have worn really well from what I see.
5. I always get muddled up with Gilbert and Leo Sayer...may have been 'cos of the haircuts...which one did Get Down? Great song smith.
6.
I've got one It's very good indeed - the preamp has a wide range and fretting is good
Would you know if the pup is wired in series or parallel?
7. And look here's Les from Vic Reeves Big Night Out playing one https://youtu.be/wcEa2VHol3k https://youtu.be/wcEa2VHol3k
8. One if these up the road from me for sale and always been 'EST curious'....I had a Vintage Jazz and it was very, very good indeed. So, what are these Pingray clones like? I had a Stingay 3EQH so just wonderin'... Gianni makes this 5 banger sing OK and this vid' is educational too....activo, frequenca basso, frequenca media.... but I think Gianni could make anything sound like an angel. 9. I remember these boys burnt very brightly for a short while in the 80's with a great first album. We Close Our Eyes came on the radio yesterday and I was thinking that's got a busy 'n tidy chorus bass line. Was this some of Pino's stuff? I do seem to remember in my murky memory, that Richard Drummie was also multi-instrumentalist? as usual youtube has a We Close Our Eyes cover and some other Go West lines, I do like a bassline that picks out the melody. https://youtu.be/qcjEyOc6B3g
10. cheers....thought that F may have been a jazz chord or something
11. Hi guys, happy new year and all that, hope the hangovers aren't too cruel....I love being a teetotaller on new years day....not by choice though My daughter received the Tangled DVD for Christmas and the main theme is a catchy little number. I've been playing along to it and then decided to take a look at sheet and tabs for chords when I noticed something a little odd, to my limited knowledge. Key is E major. The verse is really only Badd4 (B, D#, E, F#) and E5 power chord and playing root octaves of B and E over the chords sit easily on the ear and matches that on the sheet music. Then I found that most of the 'tinternet chord tabs have the E5 (or simply E) as a slash F for the bass....what a flat 2nd as a root note, not seen this before? Is this simply a case of an error carried on multiple internet listings or something else going on that I have missed? sheet: http://www.musicnote...p?ppn=MN0089522 internet chords: http://www.e-chords....l-my-life-begin song itself: https://youtu.be/je4nDvNJXsg cheers guys, thanks for your help and patience

14. Ok, my four year daughter seems to love early Madonna at the moment....not sure why...'Rainbow Dash' must play it on 'My Little Pony', or 'Tom Cat' gets down with 'Marmalade' to it on Millie and Mollie I guess? So we had a go on Holiday and Lucky Star....very quick lines, great to warm up to and simply good fun if not repetitive but hey it aint all melodies on my bass. these were useful links i fya bored:- http://www.songsterr...ss-tab-s22863t2 https://youtu.be/PLWef37ajVY http://www.songsterr...ss-tab-s10112t7 https://youtu.be/loWcvzn_fxI
15.
If you can track one down, the Aria STB-JB is just such a thing.
.....very, very good bass's.....dont let the price put you off. Exceptional build and hot pups too.

17.
Yes he did. Check out a guy called BelgaBass on youtube, he has done some fantastic Leon Sylvers covers
great find thanks, he has impecable taste.....Lovers Holiday et al....thats my week taken cared off.
18. One tasty player....check out the bassline to Make That Move....fantastic. ...there were some brillliant up in the mix bassists back then. ....Sylver's sound seems too smooth for a Rick and no jazz nasalness......I'd put a fiver on P too.
19. 221917910473 cant do a linky off my phone but if you ever wondered what a jazz with P ashtrays looks like.... ....it does say its a rare one...
20. Thanks Bilbo.....the treble side of things are murky waters for me.
21. My daughter who is 4 loves this tune...so the bass line is easy enough...and a 1,5,6,4 chorus. Then I started looking at the intro' and the melody from the piano sheet music and find that while the left hand is playing power chords the right hand is playing thirds 'n twiddly bits for pretty much most of the melody. I was thinking is this song structure unusual, as in thirds over the root is not uncommon, but for most of a melody? https://youtu.be/4Kh3IvMD4xE
22.
its mainly about the first push in the verse riff (tight back pick up sound) then the slap riff which is slightly different for each chord and wacth out for the timing when the slap finisehes (think thats a push too).
Just been noodling around with this tune...and it's... thread resureaction time....what does to 'push' refer to? Is it the sort (to me) 'of off' timing the verse has? cheers PS a little lesson that helped me. https://youtu.be/x92vJB3zL-w
