1. Hi guys, OK this week I'm into a bit of Burt Bacharach and been trying to noodle along to some his tunes....wow this guy writes some tough tunes, dissonent jazzy chords, varing tempo's, unusual chord changes, great stuff. So onto South American Getway, you may of heard this in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I've found the sheet music and see something I've not seen before....Bm 7-5 underscore F....is the same as a slash chord when I see a G/B where the bass would play the B for example? thanks guys https://youtu.be/kcLCigVYnOU
2. cheers guys, bugger I missed that, yes it's an Em so a mixolydian if in A
3. ..thats odd....selected 'share' option on youtube..copy and pasted to my thread and comes up with a link?
4. It must be ears but chord progressions......I'm hopeless at understanding them. My interpretation always seems at odds with others? This songs structure sounds familiar to me, I feel I've heard it a hundred times before? OK, this was my thinking from the start...stay with it... To me the root is an A with key signature of A major with chords being Bm-D-A, so chord progression would be 2-4-1....googling this progression shows me that may not be the case....if I google songs with 2-4-1 chord progression I get no results! Then I found some sheet music for the song, chords are B-D-A, key signature of A major.....no Bm afterall. http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0075275 Reading the music also tells me the B is only for the bass and that this chord is really an E with the bass playing a B over it (or under!)....interestingly (to me) my ears only pick up on the bass notes, a fews years ago this wouldn't of been the case. so now I have a 5-4-1 chord progression....and googling this also gives me jack too.... I getting myself tied up here can anyone help explain whats going on...in simple terms only please PS Sound drummer https://youtu.be/FVgMPdT3Hms

7. LEN Steal my sunshine. Ok so the erm older members here will know this song is sampled from the Andrea True Connection's More More More break so to speak. Chords are A, E, B that's it, but assuming the key is B that would make the song a b7-4-1 chord progression....one I've not seen before? https://youtu.be/9F4os8XlS3U https://youtu.be/RlJGrIyt-X8 thanks for your help and patience

11. Having a clearout and I really am going to get down to one bass, this is the second and priced to sell as they say:- Model: Squier (Fender) Jazz Bass Affinity, Crafted in Indonesia Location: South Norfolk Telehone number: 07753-495111 Post: yes Local railway station: Diss which is 80 mins out of London Liverpool Street, I can collect you given enough notice. Here we have my Candy Red Squier jazz bass, I've a real soft spot for this 'un as she got back me back into jazz's in a cheap way, she is a very cheery & welcoming and no nonsense bass, does everything I could wish for. She is an Indonesian built bass not the Chinese one that comes in the Squier kits, although I'm sure they are good too. Lower end bass's can be a bit of a lottery (crapshoot as they say across the pond) but these Affinities get a lot of love from the less 'brand snobby' players here so I took the plunge and found out that, to be me, I can make a expensive bass sound just as bad as a cheap well build and well set up one & sometimes with a bit of luck and a tailwind just as good too....took me a few quid to expose this flaw in my playing though She really is a very good solid and very playable bass indeed. No rough frets, good leveling, nice warm pots, trussrod works fine, nothing not to like, very well finished all-around with very impressive paintwork. She's in super clean condition thruout, barely used and any marks you see will be highlights on the photo, she is as clean as one could hope for a secondhand bass. No buckle rash, horrible digs, dings and other uncared for nastiness. Recent Fender Super bass strings, the last of my old batch with the red wraps and currently set up medium, I now play with a very light finger action so if you wish I can set her lower, she will take it. She has I would say 'warm' pups very nice tone indeed everything I wanted from a typical jazz tone, control pots work very progessively from smooth 'n creamy on the neck pup to old school funk on the bridge pup. Good tuners that keep tune for ages...like a good tuner should. Nice thin racey neck and not too deep and quite light too, lighter than a Squier Vintage Modified for example, I think the bodies on these Squier's are slightly thinner than a VMJ too which makes them feel nice too. I can post but will have to be in very well packed cardboard box. Testdrives welcome I have a very loud Peavey TNT 115BW here with NO neighbours and a host of backing tracks should you wish to have a lengthy noodle, tea/coffee/hot choccy and various biscuits available at no extra charge, I'm good like that! PLEASE AND WITH RESPECT IF YOU TXT-PHONE-PM TO SAY TO YOU WANT THIS BASS, PLEASE ASK YOUR WIFE/SIGNIFICANT OTHER, CHECK YOUR FINANCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES, SEEK LONG TERM EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS, ASTROLOGICAL OUTLOOK BEFORE COMMITTING AS I SEEM TO BE HAVING A RUN OF 'ERM LESS FORTUNATE BASSCHATTERS Thanks for looking guys (and girls)

Recent Ernie Ball Slinky's and set up very low as I play with a very light finger action. She has super hot pups and good tuners from Trevor Wilkinson as comes standard with these bass's. 13. Ive got/had the japanese supplier (jockomo or something) on the 6 or 7 bass's I've owned....my tip is to leave the E and G string on to help align the blocks. This supplier also does bespoke 12 fret markers, names, initials etc. Last set ordered Monday arrived Thursday! Ive used US creative cuts toon very, good but the jap' ones seem even better.
14. The The's Soul Mining.....played loud in a very dark room as per the instructions.
15.
Erm....I have to ask is G string nice 'n loud?'?!
fixed that! ...my Stingray was one that had a tame'ish G string, it's bit of thing among Stingray owners ....mine wasn't not too bad but noticeable after playing a Yamaha BB/RBX etc. Good to hear the Sub's nice and perky in that department. ....anyone know why/if/when the Mint green ones will appear in the UK? linky for US market SUB's http://www.musicians...h82042000004000
16. Erm....I have to ask is G string nice 'n loud?'?!
17. I keep thinking of buying one of these, almost pulled the trigger on a US sourced mint green one last month. I loved my Stingray's sound, but didn't entirely love the neck and these have a jazz type neck from what I hear so this should suit me down to my toes? But, that hot pre-amp/clipping issue I keep reading about has been putting me off, so I'll be following this thread with interest. I agree its bizarre that Sterling haven't addressed this? Maybe it isn't so much of a issue as some call it? Stunning looking bass that, crushingly beautiful colour!
18. Hmm Sissy Strut...fantastic band
