1. Everything about these basses shouts "class" - right down to little details like how the controls move! Highly recommended and fantastic value BTW - it's "Squier"!
2. That bass needs more knobs.
3. I've always fancied a four string Cruise bass - but they tend to come up when I have no cash...
4. I've used lots of cabs over the years, but funnily enough the ones that I end up hanging on to are the ones with fifteens in them. I just like the sound of those cabs. Whether that is purely down to the diameter of the driver is questionable, but it is true nonetheless.
5.
In my opinion it's the Basschat effect. There are people on this forum that read all the articles & want to try out the next great thing, sometimes it's basses but it's typically amps & cabs. The TH has had its 5 minutes of fame and now there's new stuff being talked about. Mesa Subway & Magellan for amps at the mo' and TKS for cabs.
Mostly this. Although for some people the TH500 is tonal nirvana (or today's version of it), some of us struggle to get on with the sound and the interactivity of the controls. In my personal case, the TH was incompatible with the cab I owned at the time. Values are still good, so it makes sense to sell and let someone else get the benefit!
6.
This is a BARGAIN! Someone BUY IT!!!
Believe me, if there was any way I could get the cash together - this would already be mine!
7. Where is the best place to buy shielding/conductive paint in small quantities? The sources I've located so far seem very expensive - but maybe I'm looking at the wrong stuff? What is the correct name, as there appear to be several? Like the example above, I am hoping to remedy a significant earth buzz on a Jazz bass.
8.
Price drop to £400 delivered.
Aaaarrrggghhhhh!!
9.
WoT will be along in a minute.
Not sure he's tried that particular model...
10. Any of the Little Mark heads are worth a try too - especially as they can be picked up used for around £300. Massive bargain and loads of tone control. Rich and clean sounding (IMO). "Grit" can always be added externally...
11.
Pretty much anything gets heavy if you walk far enough carrying it.
Our work here is done.
12.
I don't see why being 'less able' should preclude anyone from doing gigs.
I'm assuming he meant "less able-bodied" - but maybe not...
13.
They've also been happy mediums, with ceramic drivers :-)
Touche! Although I'm not sure I'd describe the S112s (at 10kg each) any kind of "medium"
14.
I prefer the happy medium - Walkabout / AG500. Car radio amps just don't float me boat.
Ah, but your last few cabs have been pretty low-mass! To me that's the easy part of the "compromise". A heavy amp is still pretty light compared to a heavy cab And I would have agreed with you on the amps until I tried the LM2... It sounds a lot "bigger" than it is somehow.
15. Life is all about compromise. A small reduction in tone (completely unnoticeable by everyone but yourself) versus a massive reduction in effort and backache. If you're young and can afford it (and roadies) - go heavyweight. If not, for most gigging bassists Lightweight is a no-brainer.
16.
I could really fancy this myself..! I had so much fun with the tweeterless version I had for a while.
I thought that one had a tweeter?
17. Damn - just when I thought temptation had been removed!
18. Is that the really expensive one? The S2126 I mean...
19.
The 6" Speaker is adjustable from the Side (wich I like) and on the Backside
Nice cab! And it's always useful to have an adjustable backside
20. No need to remove it - leaving the locked threads up is really useful to people researching price and availability before either buying or selling!
21. Stop it!
22. PM incoming...
23. Uh oh... Neck DOB May 2 1966. My DOB May 3 1966. Can't get much closer to a DOB bass than that! Gorgeous...
24.
All that does is confirm to me that most boutique Fender style basses are ludicrously overpriced.
Well, yes - there is that!
