1. Hi Patpatel, Still looking for the perfect Jazz ;-) That's stunning. Fancy trading for this? Phil.
2. That really is an excellent transformation. You've inspired me to try my first build. Cheers S9
3. They look sturdy enough for a guitar, but i'd be concerned about putting my favourite plank on it. Have you used one with a bass ?
4. Hi bottom Lovers, I'm looking for a quality practise/practice amp for home use. I do have a David and Goliath set up but David's just too mouthy for the neighbours. It was originally bought for it's small footprint and for the tiny stages we sometimes frequent. The Genz and Barefaced Midget combi is just too loud so I'm looking for Dave's little brother. I'm looking for a low watt valve or valve pre head to accompany the Midget or a valve combo. I was thinking Ashdown Little Bastard but there must be more options, I just can't seeem to google them. Any ideas? David and Goliath. By blocriffnut at 2011-11-12 Phil.
5. I missed your PM, looks like I'm too late. Darn. ;-(
6. I bought a Silverstone cover fer my old markbass combo. The quality was excellent. It took forever to get here and the communication was terrible. but it was good...?
7. Cheers guys. I need a 5-string set with a few adjustments to the nut and intonation/truss rod.
8. What would you reccomend when tuning this low on a 4-string? Am I better off using standard 5-string sets and discarding the G-strings or can I get away with tuning a standard 4-string set to B-E-A-D? Am I right in thinking a detuned 4-string set would need to be of a heavier gauge? Just wondered what you guys use/prefer!
9. Nice bass, but I have a question regarding the Topic page. To the left of the title there is an exclamation mark( to the right of the suitcase). What does it indicate? Sometimes there is a smiley next to the title of other threads.
10. Hi Jay, I just realised I'm in Holland so that 'll probably make it a little too expensive to post. I'd be as well just buying the book and sending it off on it's own european tour. Remove me from the list guys. I'm gonna have a look on Amazon
11. I own a wawick steamer stage 1. Before reaing your post I would have said 1000-ish. But I eded up voting 4 to 500. It's all in the mind.
12.
I did. Though that was 1987.
I bought mine (on here) secondhand, it's from 1987
13. Can I join the queue ? I love Ozzy and can't imagine it being anything other than a good read! Phil.
14.
You need to read this site mate, loads of compressor reviews written by Talkbasser Bongomania: http://www.ovnilab.com
Bongo's number one non-rack compressor is the Markbass Compressore.
15. I use a MarkBass Compressore and it's great. You can set the Ratio;Attack;Release. This makes it very versatiile for a foot pedal and I've only read rave reviews about it. Practising at home you'll think you've wasted your money. When rehearsing you can switch it on and off and you'll hear your bass literally jump in and out of the mix. I think it cost about 200 Euros. It will certainly even out the difference between slap, finger and pick styles, but it isn't a magic box. Although it is close.
16.
i was just looking at pictures and about to say that.
As far as trades go I'm looking for a small head and a single driver cab 1x15 of 1x12. the TC Electronics RH450 is tempting but I don't want a 2x10. I'd sell for 700GBP. By blocriffnut at 2011-07-09
17.
I just checked the Almbic website. Go into the forum and join there is a serial number identification thread. http://alembic.com/club/messages/394/22072.html?1310202882
Exellent idea! Cheers D.
18. I'm thinking of swapping my Fender Jazz for an Alembic Epic but I can't find a place to check the serial number of the Alembic. Had no luck on the Alembic site. Any ideas. The serial is 95W8826 USA. By blocriffnut at 2011-07-09 It's a beauty!
19. This would look great in your Cliff/Shads tribute band, fancy a swap? By blocriffnut at 2011-06-01 Yours, Phil.
20. I don't really know what I want. The short-list is; A bass A micro-head A cab 1x12, 1x15 lightweight or 70GBP I bought this in 2010 By blocriffnut at 2011-06-02 By blocriffnut at 2011-06-01 By blocriffnut at 2011-06-01 By blocriffnut at 2011-06-01 By blocriffnut at 2011-06-01 By blocriffnut at 2011-06-01 By blocriffnut at 2011-06-01 By blocriffnut at 2011-06-01 By blocriffnut at 2011-06-01 By blocriffnut at 2011-06-01 I'm in Holland so you'll have to be prepared to post out of Blighty ;-) I'll post this in either a fender gig bag or ritter hard case. There's also a bridge pup cover. I sourced this from Japan so it comes with original paperwork(hope you can read it);-) I've made no mods other than screwing the nek pup cover on. Yours, Phil.
21. Just get the 410 and tell her it's a 112. Will she really know the difference?
22. Bought a lovely Warwick from Paul, he sent it to Holland for me. His contact is impeccable, only second to his packaging which to say the least was very comprehensive indeed. Thanks for the wonderful bass Paul. Phil.
