1.
Hmm . . . I hear you - even though the claim is that it creates no noise, the inference is that these types of PSU do typically fail on that hurdle? Guess I'll keep looking. Most of those DC Brick type units are pretty big - I may go back to considering using two GigRig Distributors & a separate good single PSU. Mark
I think the Diago PSUs (although they use a daisy chain), are very noise resistant, because of the nature of their design being different (very fast, full voltage range switching, with large capacitors to average out (or smooth out) the voltage). They have greater current delivery too, and provide more amps. They also support 9 and 18v too. And they are cheaper. But I haven't tried one, so can't vouch for it.
 2.
Thanks for that BigJim. Call me a tightwad, but could someone out there could tell me why (if?) any of the DC Brick-type PSUs are worth 3 or more times as much as the Stompbox 8 from www.effectpowersupplies.com: http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/stompbo...chain-696-p.asp 3000mA, 8 right-angle connectors, seemingly noiseless, compatible with all the pedals I envisage myself having. Thanks, Mark
Perhaps the key difference is hinted at by this: "Creates no noise or mains hum." The problem I found with cheap PSU was that noise created by one of the pedals is injected onto the PSU and emerges as noise on other pedals. Specifically, my Fulltone ChoralFlange created swooshing noise on my Malekko B:Assmaster. Quite loud too and completely unusable. The problem disappeared when I adopted the Pedal Power II which features individually isolated outputs.
 3.
Is it just me that thinks it's hideous then?
I don't see the attraction either. I guess it's more quirky than the ubiquitous sculpted design which followed. Never liked P-basses myself much. Give me a Jazz any day and I'd be happy.
 4.
will consider trades for a true stereo reverb or delay pedal
I am tempted to offer a mint condition DD-7 pedal for it - tee hee. But I am perfectly happy with it. Sorry you're not getting on with it though. Someone should snap this up fast though. It's fantastic.
 5.
I've grabbed the beaten-up Ibby. I reckon I have enough parts lying around to sort it out. Wish me luck!
Good luck. Post some pics as you go!
 6.
That's interesting for the future. But my guitar buying budget is negative after the Rickenfaker, and I'm STILL the high bidder on this Westone bass which is finishing today: http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...em=120540731724 So, it's possible it may get pushed significantly more negative. At this point, even for small things, I want to stop buying until the budget recovers. Doesn't stop me looking however.
..and bidding! My first ever bass was a Thunder 1a. In natural, with the original Westone logo on the headstock. £127 from Kingfisher Music in Fleet in 1983. Can't say I remember it with any great affection though... then again I have never got on with Precisions either.
 7.
Watchng this to see what they go for. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RICKENBACKER-4001-40...=item1c10d3f476
I don't believe they fetch much. I have a couple lying around somewhere...
 8.
Just thought I'd post a pic of the bloke who plays with Italian prog band The Watch, he makes his own 'Handyman' guitars.... nice!
I have something a bit like that. Shown here with two of my genuine Rics:- http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3770...mp;id=700601843
 9. What about the EBS tremolo? Apparently it passes the bass, affecting only the treble. I think the Redwitch may also have this feature. Sounds like a smart idea - but how does it sound in practice?
 10.
Maxon AF-9 is supposedly very close to the holy grail of env filters (the original Mutron III)
I bought one of these to replace my Boss AW-2 on the strength of such claims. I never quite got into it though, as as auto-filters don't feature in my sound at the moment it sits in its box under the bed.
 11. PMed re WahOne
 12. I had an SKB pedal board with built-in PSU and another cheap(-ish) PSU (I forget the brand). I had terrible problems with oscillator noise from my ChoralFlamnge being injected via the PSU into one of my fuzz pedals and also present on the output of the ChoralFlange. It was unusable. The problems went away as soon as I bought the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2. Pricey though. I did wonder if the Diago might have been just as good (if not better) a solution though....
 13.
see ive played with compressors a wee bit, I'll be honest and say I've never seen a use for them for me. this may be due to the random way I use my right hand but ive never seen what they add to my sound, often when using them i get annoyed with something changing the way the notes open out. maybe i'm talking rubbish here feel free to educate me what use they should have!
I agree.
 14. At least he's honest. Did you see the answer he gave to the question?
 15.
The lights can be bought here : http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=225581 I'm doing it free of charge however my guitarist is paying for all the parts etc. I'm doing it to see how it will last and perform in real gigging situation and if it works I might start making them for people! If you think about it the cost of this one up to date is £37.50 and it's only so high because of those lights and light-up fans that he wanted!
It's very impressive.
 16.
Haven't you got a reissue one on your CS?
Yes - and it sounds lovely. I want a backup though! I also really want a stereo output - I may resort to re-wiring my 4001cs....
 17.
I think this is one of the earlier ones - it's got a different bridge too. Never noticed it's a bolt-neck, either - the ones on the Bach site are neck-through: <snip> These are through-neck, not bolt-on:
The one on eBay is definitely bolt on:- http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/mace...ebay/IMG028.jpg
 18.
Not sure what postage from the Czech Republic would be, but they're somewhat cheaper new, direct from BaCH That's about £240. I like these, quite a lot... :brow: J.
Different pickups on their own website, aren't they. The example on eBay has (what look like) toasters. They are rather pretty aren't they? Rather chunky bolt-on necks though. I am sure they feel and sound quite different from a Rick.
 19.
Yep! sounds great, i'll get back to you ASAP via PM
Thanks!
 20.
ok thanks! i am very interested in this but £100 is a little steep for me right now, but that is an AMAZING price, i'll see what money i can scrape together but i am interested, can this take a standard BOSS power supply or? also what are the dimensions? as my pedal board is currently BOSS only + a big muff, and with this things connectors at the north end i'll need to re-arrange, maybe drop the muff from the board etc Many Thanks! Note: How would you want payment? and would it be posted or? (sorry! i sound like i've bought it! count this as a feeler offer i guess)
Thanks for your interest. The pedal takes a standard Boss power supply. the approximate dimensions are 4" x 6.5" and 2" high. Payment by Paypal. When that has cleared I could post or the buyer is welcome to collect. I could post however you want (at your cost), but it would have to be signed for on delivery (e.g. Royal Mail Special Delivery). I think that'd probably cost about £8. Okay?
 21.
what is the difference (minus cosmetics, and i must say the new one looks very very cool) between yours and this? http://www.buyanalogman.com/Bass_Octave_Fu...octave-fuzz.htm
I think the only difference is the case and the addition of a status LED on the newer version.
 22. Hi folks, I need to upgrade by delay pedal and get a tremolo. Up for grabs is my Black Cat Bass Octave Fuzz. I will take £100 for the pedal - but would prefer a swap/trade. The Black Cat is a replica of the Maestro Bass Brassmaster (similar to the Melekko B:Assmaster). This is original Black Cat pedal. No longer in production and very difficult to find. Near mint condition (but for some very minor cosmetic scuffs on the front - see the pics attached).

True Bypass switching
AC adaptor jack (Boss PSA/Ibanez style) or internal 9V battery
Normal Volume, Effected volume, and Drive knobs
Two toggle switches: filter and Harmonic for various tones
Fuzz with octavia sound with excellent low end response.
Heavy duty steel metal enclosure about 4" x 6.5" and 2" high
These are the pedals I am interested in:-

Lovepedal Babyface (tremolo)
Lovepedal Echobaby
Catlinbread Semaphor (tremolo)
Boss DD-7
TC Electronic Nova Repeater
Retrosonic Analog Delay
Open to other suggestions!
 23.
No prizes for guessing my favourite pedal brand <snip> Reason for sale? I find arranging and rearranging pedals and adjusting the settings a real pain in the arse. I want it all in one box and with presets, dammit!
He'll be back!!!! With his tail between his legs. Mark my words.
