Mosfet or not does make a difference sound wise but using mosfet does not necessarily make a bad pedal sound good or vice versa. I would suggest to not consider the presence (or not) of mosfet transistors when you buy a pedal. IMO, sound, connectivity, interface, construction and customer support are more important elements.
The question arises I suppose because Fulltone decided to label the redesigned pedal as the "Bass Drive MOSFET". This suggested it is a selling point. I have no idea why they would - all that matters is how it sounds.

I just listened to your stuff on myspace. Excellent!!!!
 3.
what is mosfet in relation to pedals? wat does it do ect and what difference does it make cheers
MOSFET is an acronym for Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor. It's a type of transistor. They are often used in amplifier or buffer design (and make good switches too). They are quite linear and relatively easy to design with. Unlike bipolar transistors (which they largely displaced in amplifier design) they are not susceptible to catastrophic over-heating. That's about all I can remember now (it was a long time ago I did my degree). In am amplifier, MOSFETs can be used to provide oodles of clean power (think of Trace Elliot). In relation to pedals, it just means the circuit designer used MOSFETs in the circuit and, in itself, doesn't really mean very much at all! Why do you ask?
 4.
I ordered the parts to make a simple true bypass blend pedal this morning. Might take a few photos as I am making it as well. I use www.musikding.de for all my pedal parts. Its a German site but Klaus' service is usually excellent. Parts cost me £18 including shipping, ordered 8.00 am and shipped by 9.30. He also does some kits with PCB's for pedals like fuzz face, tube screamer and distortion plus which are about £25.
Oooh - thanks for that link! I may be making some purchases!!!!
 5.
3x jack sockets, .0047u cap, hammond style metal box, neutrik TRS plug and 2m of cable. Total cost £11, labour 20 minutes. Rub in the magic snake oil and add vintage looking logo. Result £79. I shall look into making identical units, advertise them on ebay, and wait for the insults to start flying when they claim I have "stolen their design". I hasten to use the word "stupidity" lest I annoy the mods, but really...
You think you're clever? Why aren't you doing it then?
 6.
Keep watching the "For Sale" sections on RickResource - both C64s & stray horsies do come up fairly often. You'd probably get a decent deal, as well.
...if only I had the money now...
 7.
I don't think any 4001 copies pre-date 72/73, when these features were phased out of real Ricks, so horseshoes wouldn't have been on the basses the Japanese factories were imitating.
The horseshoes have been available on stock Rickenbackers for years now. Only with the recent demise of the 4001C64 and C64S have they passed into history again. Damn shame! I should've picked up a 4001v63 whilst they were still around.
 8. If one of these replicas included a replica of the horseshoe bridge pickup, then I'd be interested. Especially if it had a stereo output. Know what I mean?
 9.
I beg to differ. Do you not agree that these boxes go for far in excess of what they are actually worth, purely because they have the magic "R" on them? If I started knocking up "Rob-O-Sound" boxes and advertising them on ebay for more than a tenner, I would be laughed off. I say good luck to Twickerman, the more money he gets the better, if people are willing to get into a bidding war for it, thats their lookout. How is that an insult?
Correction. You'd probably get about £50:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bass-Electric-Guitar...9#ht_4836wt_935
 10. I have the head version. It is wonderful. Someone should snap up a bargain fast. If I had the cash and the room I'd have already clicked "buy now".
 11.
Used for all stereo sound rick's, plug the stereo jack into stereosound on the rick, now you have the neck pup and bridge pup at the end of each mono jack, now plug each one into two separate amps for a more tuneable sound. This is an unbelievably over priced item, for a lot of cable and some jack's. You can make this at home and if you use quality components and it will be far superior. I hope no one on BC is stupid enough to be bidding on this
Remember - no-one forces anyone to buy. I agree that they are overpriced. It's cute to look at though (imo), but people will always pay extra for originals. I must say, I AM surprised what some folks are willing to pay. Just for once, I am not complaining. Still wish I didn't have to sell it though. :-(
 12. I have recently discovered the POG2 and HOG pedal demos on the ehx site... Incredible!!! want want want WANT!

 15.
Didn't he use an Acoustic 360? The Preamp in that had a fuzz built in didn't it? This guy builds a clone: http://www.lynx.net/~jc/pedals360.html Warning: not cheap
That's rather interesting. Is there a UK distributor I wonder....
 16. I don't use an envelope filter at the moment - but when I did I was VERY partial to the Boss AW-2. I tried the Maxon AF-9, but it didn't inspire me. You can hear the AW-2 (together with a Boss OC-2 octaver and Sovtek Big Muff) on a cover of Robert Wyatt/Phil Miller's "Nan True's Hole" on myspace page. Don't expect hi-fidelity - it was recorded using only two small condenser bugs in the rehearsal studio.... www.myspace.com/meanwhilegardens Get the idea?
 17.
Thanks for the clips, it sounds really great.
The Shaftesbury, the Wattson? Or both?
 18. Okay folks, here are some demos. 4 files:- 1. The Shaftesbury Duo-fuzz, in tone position 1 2. The Wattson SuperFuzz (nka Classic Fuzz), in tone position 1 3. The Shaftesbury Duo-fuzz, in tone position 2 4. The Wattson SuperFuzz (nka Classic Fuzz), in tone position 2 Apologies (i) to people with perfect pitch (I didn't tune to concert pitch before recording these bits), and (ii) the late great Hugh Hopper for choosing a couple of his riffs to approximate to for thie purpose of this comparison Have fun! - Nick.
 19. Relisted (lower price):- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...T#ht_500wt_1182
 20. I am going to change from my Pitchblack+ to a Pitchblack. I don't need the features and need the space on my board. Anyone want to do a swap + cash deal?
 21.
In principal, yes. Obviously you can add loads of features. The Lovepedal tremolo is probably the simplest you can get (just a rate control). Features you could potentially add: Tap tempo Depth Wave form Rhythm selection Ratio (w/ tap tempo) Modulation Probably loads more as well.
The Lovepedal tremolo has a waveform switch on the front as well. It also has depth and volume trimpots. The volume is crucial actually and frequently missing from tremolo pedals. Otherwise you cannot set the relative level of the affected sound. But anyway - these are generic comments - I was hoping to find some comments from someone who's tried this pedal. Or soemone who'd recommend a different tremolo for bass guitar.
 22.
Tremolo is just a volume-based effect so it shouldn't be any less effective on bass. The only problem I've heard of with Tremolo pedals is that there's sometimes a volume drop when engaged. You should be fine with it.
What you're saying then, is that all tremolos are the same?
 23. Has anyone tried this on the bass? The demos I have found sound really great - but they are all on guitar. It's such a dinky pedal!
 24.
Any chance of sound clips?
I really ought. It's almost impossible to find the time though....
 25. Hi all, just wanted to share with you all what a fantastic fuzz this really is. Supposedly a clone of the Shin-ei Duo-Fuzz (aka the Shaftesbury Duo-Fuzz). I haven't compared it yet (I don't have a PP3 to hand!), but it's immense. Sounds like an inferno. Instant Hugh Hopper circa Soft Machine Volume Two. That's all! Phew! Got it off my chest. - Nick.
