1.
welcome Tickenham just joined myself cheers
Nice here, init?
 2.
BTW, what do you think of the Bass Blogger? I'm considering getting one.
I just checked out some of the EH demos. Didn't really get the Bass Blogger - but my hat goes off to EH! They make some really inspiring pedals. I really must get a Bass Microsynth!!!!
 3.
How do you find the Choralflange? I have the feeling that would be my ultimate flanger but never heard it on bass. I like flangers with a mix knob (only know 2 or 3). A bit too big now that I've downsized to a Pdealtrain Mini though...
I love it. The problem is that it spills noise into the Malekko. That's why I've bought the Voodoo Lab PSU. I'll set it all up on Tuesday - then I'll be able to let you know properly.
 4.
But funnily enough, just today I bought a VooDoo Lab Pedal Power 2. As far as I can tell this and the Modtone Power Plant are the only ones with fully isolated outputs. I have had problems with noise spilling from my flanger to the distortions and this is the best solution. Of course, being isolated you can parallel them up (with a suitable cable) to offer 18v (and even 24v is required).
Having just read a bit more, I am thinking I could've (should've) bought the Diago - power for more pedals, a tidier board and would've saved 100 quid. We live and learn. Anyway - having now researched this more properly, I'd rate the Diago as the best option - by a country mile. Rats!
 5.
Turns out there are loads of options for pedalboard power supply (as many of you probably already knew). Till now, I'd thought I'd need a separate PSU for each pedal in my board (because all my pedals will be from different manufacturers), plugged into a 4- or 6-way extension socket. My guitarist has a Dunlop DC Brick in his bass FX board (he plays bass in another band): http://www.thomann.de/ie/dunlop_dc_brick_power_supply_eu.htm Thomann also do a few similar products: http://www.thomann.de/ie/voodoo_labpedal_power_2_plus.htm http://www.thomann.de/ie/g_lab_pb_1_power_supply.htm http://www.thomann.de/ie/voodoo_lab_pedal_power_ac.htm http://www.thomann.de/ie/trex_fuel_tank.htm http://www.thomann.de/ie/bbe_supa_charger.htm http://www.thomann.de/ie/trex_fuel_tank_juicy_lucy.htm http://www.thomann.de/ie/trex_fuel_tank_junior.htm http://www.thomann.de/ie/artec_power_brick.htm http://www.thomann.de/ie/harley_benton_powerplant.htm But it's this guy that's caught my attention, and is probably what I'll be choosing, unless anyone on here can tell me why I shouldn't: http://www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/TheGigRig_Distributor.html Thanks, Mark
I like the look of that gigrig unit too. But funnily enough, just today I bought a VooDoo Lab Pedal Power 2. As far as I can tell this and the Modtone Power Plant are the only ones with fully isolated outputs. 6. This is my current pedal board. It's going to change imminently (I just bought a Voodoo Lab PSU and Pedaltrain board), but the pedals will stay the same (I think). I play in a progrock covers band. Basically they are used like this: The B:Assmaster and Choralflange are for the Squire tones. The Bass Drive is for Mike Rutherford and John Wetton sounds. The digital delay is for some Floyd-y things (together with the distortions for some huge swells). I had the Boss Tremolo/Pan there for a while - but it was noisy as hell. I also had a seventies EH Electric Mistress, but it was too limited. Also frequently spotted on the board in recent times: and Black Cat Bass Octave Fuzz (replaced by the Malekko), a Boss OC-2 and an AW-2, an MXR Phase-100 and a SHaftesbury Duo-Fuzz.
 7. I seem to remember reading somewhere (Harmony Central?) that the older Jim Dunlop Bass Wah (I think it's black) is better.
 8. Interesting thread! They have always been my string of choice but I bought some of their cheap range RB45 strings recently. They sounded so bad, I thought the string mute was stuck on. Never had that happen before. Have moved to Elixirs now. Previously the only brand I haven't got on with has been Picato - whose strings sound really bright and extra metallic when new (which is quite nice), but very very quickly become dull. I guess there are a few brands worth checking out. I have never tried Sadowsky, for example.
 9.
Ever pop into Alberts? i only ever use them for Strings and thats when im in a rush, but there pretty nice in there, barely any selection of basses
Alberts? No, not really. Poor selection of gear at unattractive prices!!! Charlie Chandlers in Hampton Wick for me!
 10.
Hi mate and welcome - I'm not far away in Barnes/Hammersmith. Used to drink in the White Swan, when attempting unsuccesfully to pull birds, many years ago! Double neck Rick implies a bit of 70s Genesis perhaps?
Lots of it! And Yes and Floyd.
 11. Ha! I live right by the Red Lion - which became Filthy's. It's changed hands recently - but I think they are still using the name Filthys. Used to go there all the time 15 years ago - haven't been lately. The best pubs in the area are The White Swan, the Eel Pie, the Fox, The Old Goat... mmm beer. We're playing at the Grey Horse in January. That's local (-ish). A gig at the Red Lion would be cool. I wouldn't even need to drive!!!
 12. Hello folks, just found this forum and joined. I play bass (and guitars) in a prog rock covers band. Always keen to talk about music and gear!!! - Nick.
