3.
Hackett/Howe/Fripp/Gilmour? No pressure then....
4. Hi folks, my prog rock covers band is looking for a new guitarist - any suggestion on the best places to advertise? Is there an equivalent site to this one for guitarists? Cheers, - Nick.
 5.
9+/10 condition Lovepedal Babyface Tremolo, never put on the board and used a couple of times to try out in the rig. £70 including shipping and paypal anywhere in Europe.
This is a brilliant tremolo. My favourite!!!! Someone is going to get a bargain at this price!
 6. I cannot believe someone hasn't snapped this up!!! (I blame the bankers for the financial crisis).
 7. I've got a Brandoni custom bass too. Quite a sweetie it is too. An Eko fretless neck, two huge Eko humbuckers, a body whose history I forget now and a lovely pearly scratchplate. I've got a band covering Genesis too!!! Such coincidences! Good luck with the sale - it looks lovely.
 8. Very tempted by that Rail... sadly I have to buy a new bed for my daughter. That puts paid to that plan. :-( Good luck with the sales.
 9. Isn't this up on eBay now? Act fast if you're interested. 950 is a great price. I am very tempted myself!
 10.
Please, as much as love Black Ricks that would be a crime to cover up that wood. Beautiful mate.
Cheers - but it's supposed to look more like this:- http://cache3.asset-cache.net/xc/85035137....85971178AC22C72
Shouldn't we be putting this as a sticky or something in salute to Al's incredible work?
I agree!
 11. I have only just seen this thread. Fantastic work. I had a rick-inspired home build, made by a friend:- http://www.flickr.com/photos/81724272@N00/234239140/ I have some similar build diary pics (somewhere). I also wanted it black - but he was very reluctant to have paint over the wood!!! I may yet do it one day - I wouldn't tell him I'd done it though. If I were capable of doing this, I'd build one with chequered binding, horseshoe and toaster pickups, full width inlays an, yes, probably in black!
 12.
New pics taken today showing new s/p and thumb-rest - very dark today unfortunately so not the best pics but you get the gist
Very pretty!
 13. If I were going to build "replica" Ricky's I certainly use checkered binding and I'd also feature horseshoe and toaster pickups, vintage tone selector and stereo outputs. That'd be one helluva bass.
 14.
Hi All, The deal on this beauty fell through unfortunately, so up for sale again just in time for Xmas Cheers, Si
Don't tempt me Satan! (I am saving up for Taurus 3 pedals, and haven't got very far!)
 15. I have a 1978 Burgundyglo 4001 too - it's a peach!
 16.
I always heard a lot of Hatfield and the North as a large influence for the likes of Gong/Steve Hillage, more with the guitar though.
Well, they were all part of the same family tree! No? So that is a family resemblance! Hillage had been in Uriel with Hatfield's keyboard player Dave Stewart (who subsequently played on Hillage's Fish Rising), and Pip Pyle was Gong's drummer on Camembert Electrique.
 17.
Also along similar lines to early Soft Machine
Definitely! You can be sure, in his use of fuzz, Sinclair was heavily influenced by the late fuzz-bass hero Hugh Hopper. Have you heard Hughscore? Their "Delta Flora" is a classic.
 18.
There's a definite Frank Zappa's influence in this music, I dig it, wonder why I had never heard of them, being a very avid Zappa fan. Thanks for the link, I shall now investigate their music to find out more.
As a Zappa fan, you should be aware of The Wizards of Twiddly. Are you?
 19.
Their music was way ahead of their time.
Ha ha ha! Ooops. 1974.
 20.
How does that bit of lore go? I thought the Q-Tron was the updated Mu-Tron, given that it was designed by Mike Beigel?
I don't remember where I read it. Perhaps from before the Q-Tron - although I doubt that as (according to Wikipedia Biegel) was commisssioned in 1995. I know that, after having enjoyed playing with the Mutron III, unable to find one in the UK at a reasonable price, what I read prompted me to search for an affordable AF-9 for many months - eventually picking one up in 2003. Maybe the article was hokey. I dunno.
