  1. Knowing the supply issues the company I work for is facing I can only imagine how this affects small builders such as Handbox. We’re the biggest manufacturer of pressure gauges in the world and have things on 6 month+ lead times at the moment Damn good price for the WB-100 mind you - even with the duty on top. Soooo enticing 😬
  2. Are you able to make this year’s SE Bass Bash? Would love a crash course in compression if you are able to 😀
  3. Nice! Yep I think those early red-face MAG heads used the exact same power amp as the ABM 👍🏻
  4. Is it wrong to want this only to defret it? 😲
  5. Could well just be crappy hall acoustics, guitars and drums eating into your frequency range and making it feel like you were lacking in heft… Those sorts of gigs are not fun!
  6. That’s very surprising and I can understand your disappointment- that rig should be tearing down walls! Fingers crossed you’ve got another gig soon to restores your faith like you say 🤘🏻
  7. Peavey website currently says “available in September” 😞

Chris just bought an MXR bass compressor pedal from me and was an absolute gent to deal with 👍🏻
  9. TBH I think the mids are cut a bit more there than normal! Bass is essentially a jazz bass
  10. FWIW this is roughly my EQ/valve settings on an ABM500 and I reckon the tone you’ve described is the sort of thing I go for too:
  11. If I get anywhere with it I’ll let you know - maybe it would help the cause of two of us are after the same thing 😎
  12. Crank the input gain (don’t worry about the Vu meter; ignore it in fact), crank the valve. If it’s a 500 that means the valve adds a bit of a nice harmonic warmth and not a huge amount of dirt, but IMO it does what it does perfectly. Preshape button IN (opposite of what you’d expect) Boost the low mids Give that a whirl
  13. Ah nice. Will do exactly that
  14. I emailed these guys about a smaller 100W head (along the lines of Handbox/HotAmps size) but never heard back
  15. Pearl Jam, Hyde Park next Friday 🤘🏻🤘🏻
  16. It’s embarrassingly bad isn’t it. Ah well.
  17. Get the impression he thinks he’s Steve Jobs announcing the first iPhone. It’s a bass cab….
  18. That was one of the reasons I decided not to find €3.5k down the back of the sofa 😅 Love the amp, would be amazing but the gigs I’m playing I would constantly be fussing about its safety 🤓
  19. Exactly what I needed to do ☹️
  20. PS the Rheingold I was thinking of was this one: https://www.rheingold-music.com/en/p/rheingold-b100 Twice the weight (ish) of the PureTone but similar size I think?
  21. I emailed Pavel about that “Mini Basstard” and it sounds very interesting - 43 cm wide if that makes a difference for you. Didn’t get a price I’m afraid, but his 15W version is €1.6k. 7-8 month build time and customisable boxes/knobs etc
  22. He played with Terence Trent D’Arby in the late 80s
  23. Yep as @Clarky said I found this quite recently and fell in love. Around €3.5k but I think based on that review and the fact it’s incredibly limited quantity, hand-built, custom-shop production it’s worth every Penny. Especially now Ashdown are selling a 30W valve amp for £1400! Isn’t arms of other small footprint valve amps Hot Amp in Czech Republic are another manufacturer, and Rheingold in Germany. Plus there’s the Handbox WB100 which isn’t exactly massive. I really would love one of these PureTone amps but unless I win the lottery I can’t justify the expense sadly
  24. Anyone can come along! It’s just located in the South East
  25. And I’m looking forward to trying your Handbox R400 (hint hint) 😎
