  1. I almost concur. The only caveat is that someone other than me needs to be playing the bass. 🤓
  2. Got new grilles from Barefaced today. Oriented right for the stack and with the new logo. Nice 😎
  3. Think that was filmed as well and is on iplayer to watch. Really good show, his enthusiasm and love for rock and roll, plus his friendly and bright nature, made it a really interesting watch. As a band I always found the Foos a bit hit and miss but there’s no denying Taylor was a force of nature and for whatever reason his death has hit harder than most.
  4. Gorgeous bass 😍
  5. Not both, at least not both as in one in the 8 ohm socket and one in the 4 ohm socket. Ultimately with a valve amp you have to select a transformer tap from which you will take the power - in this instance you have options of 8, 4 or 2 ohm taps. Both the 4 and 2 ohm taps have two sockets wired in parallel, allowing you to use 2x 8 ohm cabs (4 ohm tap) or 2x 4 ohm cabs (2 ohm tap). You could, possibly, plug them both into the 4 ohm socket as the combined nominal impedance of 2.67 ohms is still ok (valve amps prefer lower impedances than higher, the opposite of solid state amps); the Ampeg manual doesn’t recommend this concept of mismatched impedance though.
  6. Having read the manual myself, I now want one FFS 😂
  7. Doesn’t matter, it’s a valve amp isn’t it? So full power goes to any of the taps. So of course if 4 ohm cabs in the right flavour are easier to find, it’s no issue but if not, use the 4 ohm tap with 2x 8 ohm cabs
  8. I *think* this is roughly the chronology…: Gen 1 tends to be the 15” drivers - the original Compact, Vintage, Big One etc. Gen 2 is where the 12” drivers appeared such as this cab (Super Twelve/Super Twelve T), Big Baby, Big Twin. Gen 3 is where they introduced their own proprietary drivers - Super Compact, Super Midget, Super Twin, Big Baby 2, Big Twin 2 and the 10” cabs ETA: the whole “Gen” thing only really became a naming thing when the Gen 3 stuff appeared. Bit like Red Dwarf; seasons 1 and 2 were just called Red Dwarf. It only started getting the number from season 3 🤓
  9. (Sorry, I’m having a day of shopping for other people as it stops me looking at things I neither need nor can afford)

  11. Fair enough. I know the feeling - I have 4 different flavoured heads 😂 What about the Aguilar AG700?
  12. If the OBT works well why not just use that? Sensible/boring/money saving… 🤓
  13. Royal Blood on Wednesday Skunk Anansie a week and a bit later 🤘🏻
  14. I thought the OP meant the Peavey-era one. If so I think this is the manual: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/838201/Trace-Elliot-Ah1200-12.html?page=21#manual Using the lo/hi pass sends, and then the stereo returns, the DIs will be lo/hi pass too.
  15. It simply means that the cab can cope with 250W RMS as a general rule, but if you’re running clean signals you may be able to push up to 500W through it.
  16. Sold Lee an MXR bass octave deluxe via Facebook. Was an absolutely pleasure, top notch guy to deal with!
  17. Probably Guy Morel rather than Mr Pratt of awesome bass playing fame 😉
  18. I’d say that seems excessively loud, unless someone was hoovering nextdoor? 🤓
  19. Again the difference really doesn’t matter. If it sounds bad, turn down and you’ll save yourself blowing anything up
  20. Doesn’t really matter, you can’t hear the difference between 300 and 350W Nice rig!
  21. Friday’s rig…:
  22. To be fair it depends how loud the band is, how clean you want the bass etc. I love my LB30 but it just won’t work in one of my bands because we have a heavy hitting drummer and two guitarists to compete with. It will create the volume but there won’t be anything remotely clean or polite about it, it gets very, very gnarly. One of the guitarists actually forced me to switch back to my Glock the other day because he hated the LB30 🤣
  23. Possibly the smallest 100W head I can think of is the Handbox WB-100. The trouble with trying to cram more into a small box is the heat dissipation- of course all the valves generate loads of heat and you have to cram a couple of transformers in there too. I’d love a Little Bastard-sized 100W valve head but can’t really see it being easy to do. Unless a valve genius can come along and tell me otherwise and volunteer to make me one for a very small sum of money 🤓
