1. Ridiculous bargain for someone! Gorgeous bass
2.
I love the - now disconinued - Super 12T. Fantastic one-cab-does-all solution, easy to carry, on-board wheels, loud, articulate, all I need in a cab. So I have two!
Knowing the old S12 and the new Super Compact, I can safely say the new Super Twin is even more immense and incredible
3. Yep: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/261130-tc-group-bought-by-behringer-including-tc-electronic/page__view__getnewpost
4. Must watch later - might get fired listening at work!
5. Every gig is a bass cock up from beginning to end for me
6.
Beware of buying more than you need!
Naaaah. I have three heads with a fourth on order and four cabs. A rig for every occasion, and several occasions I don't require too
7. Good decision sir!
8.
Me too! I was expecting one of those Dan Armstrong basses.
Like this? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/256447-new-bass-ampspeaker-concept/page__fromsearch__1
9.
I don't know I agree with this theory, the good old Celestion Vintage 30 is a common swap into many different guitar cabs and, as far as I am aware, usually gives a big improvement, probably purely because it is a higher quality speaker than the normal, manufacturer price driven, unit.... See if the cab builders recommend anything specific for the cab, if not visit the likes of Celestion and see if anything takes your fancy, they do have sound clips available for a lot of the speakers but that has always confused me as if I listen to the clip on the laptop it will sound crap...if I listen through the hifi it will sound much better! so surely the clip quality is driven by the speakers you listen to them through!
Er, bass speaker cabs are a completely different kettle of fish from guitar speaker cabs. It's all in the low frequency handling
10. You want more power in the bass/lows - for example the GK biamp system offers 50W for the highs and 400W+ (depending on the model) for the bass
11. Wrong AH1000 for your BFC I'm afraid Urban Lions!
12.
Thank you. That narrows my search down a bit more now. Do you think there are any still in existence?
Yes, just about as rare to find as their magical V Type 4x8 cabinet though!
13.
Yes my bad..... I didnt get in till 3 from a gig so not awake! Post edited......
No excuse
14. I thought bass and treble on 2 (8 o'clock) and mids on full was flat? Either which way these are superb amplifiers, dead simple, loud and clean
15. £351 then?
16. I'd swap for a Super Compact (in fact, I did!) but probably not for a Gen 1/2 Compact because you will notice a warmer, less "bitey" tone with which you are no doubt aquainted from the S12T!
17. Cracking preamp! Miss mine sometimes...
18. Has anyone ever swapped the preamp valve in their ABM head for something other than the stock valve? If so did you find it a worthwhile and life affirming thing to undertake or a complete waste of 2 minutes?
19. A Super Twin Wideboy cab which allows you to get the benefit of vertically aligned 12s in a cab wide enough to accommodate most valve amps. (Most other manufacturers sacrifice vertical alignment when going to wide designs...) (And yes I know the retro range is designed for valve amps, I just love your 12" drivers!)
20. Bought an ABM500 from Dave after realising I should never have sold one earlier this year. He is an absolute gent, amp is as immaculate as the day it left the factory. Fantastic, many thanks!
21. The CTM100 is an awesome amp. Buy one. There
22. For Sale only : Ashdown BTA200 I'm in no hurry to sell this and frankly I don't NEED to, it's just in trying to be sensible. 4 amps is overkill for me (for most people?!) and this one is ridiculously OTT for my current band situation. That said, l love it to bits, it makes me grin like a loon every time I switch it on and for that reason alone I'm not interested in any offers or trades thanks. Anyhoo, what is it? The BTA (Big Tube Amp) originally launched in three variants: 200, 300 and 400. Funnily enough the numbers refer to the RMS wattage. The preamp is the Ashdown ABM EVO III, so solid state with a valve drive stage, 7 band EQ, single knob compression and sub harmonics. The power amp is all valve, in this case 6x6550s. Mark Gooday told me only around 20 of the 200W variants were ever made, so this is pretty rare! It sounds IMMENSE. In a blindfold test between this and an ABM, both set flat, you cannot tell the difference based on a crappy iPhone recording. Live "in the room", however, the BTA has that indescribable "heft" only a valve power stage can produce. Set everything flat, no compression or silly sub harmonics, a bit of valve drive and you're in tonal nirvana. Or at least, I am.... It's heavy (35kg). It's big (W610 x D330 x H362mm). But it's bloody great. In excellent nick except an indentation of a three-pin mains plug on one side, and one bolt cap (holding chassis to wooden sleeve) is missing. Comes with a 4mm padded RoqSolid cover. £750 collected. NOW £700 Shipping to mainland UK £35. NOW £30 Shipping further afield on request
23.
Simply stunning, sorry to see this up f/s.
Ditto!
24. Cameron bought some Fodera strings from me. Superbly easy and quick transaction. Thanks
