1. All except point 4. Not sure I understand this "properly" of which you speak?
2. Thanks Martin Second cab now available, need the money sadly... £475 delivered to mainland UK £460 collected
3. Glad you're back here and back living a healthy life
4. Depends on your tonal goals. I also gig a 30W valve amp and its glorious but completely overdriven the whole time. If you want clean, avoid it
5.
I had one of these and stupidly sold it. Wish I could afford this one. Valve pre not a gimmick, it runs at high voltage like an all-valve amp. Immense tone and very versatile. A bargain at this price. One of the best Class D lightweights out there in my opinion.
Oddly enough, I concur
6.
In that case I may well pop down at some point then Alex.
I refer you to my comment regarding PayPal......
7. Ah yes, I forgot you have a MAG still. In which case you'll probably love the RM, just keep well away from the "Shape" button!!
8.
Going to look in to a louder head at some point. Maybe the Ashdown RM800.
In my opinion you won't go far wrong with one, it's a versatile little beast but I've not had huge experience with Mark Bass stuff so not sure how it would compare.
9. Glad it seems to be the right cab, shame about the lack of gigs and I know where you're coming from there!
10. There's always Paypal
11. Paul's a top fella and looks after his gear, buy with confidence
12. I concur - Drew was very helpful with some string experimentation discussions and subsequent purchase. Maybe one day I'll graduate onto real things to buy like you guys
13. Paul has just bought a Barefaced Super Compact from me in what can only be described as an incredibly quick and easy deal. A top fella and a cracking player too - cheers!
14. It's an astonishing little beast whether or not it's 100% strictly "all valve" or not
15. Selling one of the pair I own; best bass cab I've ever had. If you're reading this likely you know what it is. So why am I selling? Simply put, the gigs I have lined up for the foreseeable future don't need two cabs of such potency, and I have a house move, a new ACG (priorities people, priorities!), Christmas, a wedding and a honeymoon to pay for. It makes more sense to sell something I can replace later down the line hence this is up for sale (the alternative was my Status Retroactive J, as its not getting so much use now I have my ACG). So yes, one currently for sale, but I may have to sell the second a little further down the line too. In very good condition, a few marks from rubber feet but that's it. Comes with a 4mm padded RoqSolid cover which has protected it whilst it lives in our band lockup and gets transported in the van. £475 includes mainland UK shipping
16.
I noticed someone else on this forum has a sealed version of the ABM 210 Neo cab , is that a special order or are both available as I've only seen and used the ported versions.
I believe the design was tweaked from ported to sealed this year but I'm sure Ashdown can verify
17. FWIW back in my days of owning Trace Elliot gear I always had the input gain close to maximum to get enough signal into the amp. Never thought anything of it, just like I think nothing of it now with my Rootmaster 800
18.
Awesome. I'll look into the cabs a bit more then. Going OT but how does the 100 compare to the 300?
I have the 30 not the 300, so it's basically got a fair bit less clean headroom than the 100. The 100 is a cracker of an amp and I think if my band was still properly gigging I'd miss it more but frankly the 30 is well up to the task of my current requirements and sounds utterly glorious. I am contemplating running a two rig setup with the CTM dirty into one cab and the RM800 clean into another, but again I don't have the gigs at the moment to justify it. I imagine the 300 is an immense beast to behold! Slight on topic, I was taking to Ashdown earlier this year about Foundation 210s but because of the band situation it didn't come about.
19.
Why's that? Didn't you own a CTM 100 at one time (I swear I came across your thread when obsessively googling it)
I just preferred the sound of the Foundation cab vs the CL when I heard them earlier this year. I had a CTM100 and stupidly sold it, best amp I've ever had. Currently running a CTM30 or RM800 which are both ace though so can't complain too much
20.
Oh they do look lovely. What's the difference in sound between the cabs? What would fit best with the CTM 100?
Well the CL cab on eBay was designed for the valve series but if it were me and I could afford it I'd go for a Foundation 410
21. Oh and the Foundation cabs look bombproof and sound pretty damn fine too!
22. There's also a Classic Line 410 on eBay right now, £350. Big heavy bugger but has Eminence rather than Sica speakers
23. Barefaced will be releasing a Retro Four10 soon I believe. As for the Ashdown cabs - the ABM Foundation range is UK built with apparently different spec Sica speakers and a lifetime warranty. The Chinese ABM range are the old ABM cabs with 5 year warranty and older spec Sica speakers. Ashdown also have the Neo410 which is worth a look Hope that helps
