1. There was at least one generation of Trace Elliots which did this too.
2. Kevin Dean is currently selling a pair, I'm sure he'll be along soon! If I had the money I'd probably have bought them by now
3. That's a flippin bargain, always fancied one of these, just coz...
4. OK so the nut appears to be 39mm or 40mm width. Some pictures of the various little dings and blemishes you'd expect form a working bass - some are hard to tell apart from the light reflections so please ask if unsure! OK that's just a cool shot This is the main ding around the jack socket The other side of the jack socket and the rest of the main ding A tiny ding on the back side of the body, bridge end Tiny scratch just above the bridge Blemish on top horn Some marks on the lower horn The tiny mark on the right of this pic is a knock on the headstock Dings on the back of the lower horn
5. Stunning
6. Mike - see here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/276146-aer-amp-one-electric-bass-amp/page__view__getnewpost Hooray!
7. I have no idea actually! It's a standard Status jazz bass neck which feels very similar to a Fender Jazz at the nut. I'll measure it when I get home tomorrow, and add more pictures as promised. Paul - cheers for the kind words
8. Stunning bass
9. What a superb little setup
10. For sale only - Status Retroactive Jazz Built for me in 2007, this has been my rock for 8 years. I still absolutely love it but it has very much taken second string to my ACG Finn 5 since that appeared and now I have a Finn 4 as well this is likely to become even more sidelined. It's criminal for such a fine bass to be third choice and therefore despite being gutted about selling it, it is probably the right thing to do. Specs: Alder body, gloss black finish Graphite neck Hipshot tuners with D-tuner on E string 2x hum cancelling J pickups in standard Jazz position Electronics - 18V active circuit with the following controls vol/pan/treble/bass and active/passive switch Chrome hardware Schaller strap lock buttons Unbranded Hiscox Liteflight case I'll get better pictures up later on as the body does have a few dings which need to be shown. A few months ago Rob Green gave it the once over where he replaced the jack socket, volume and pick up pan pots so electronically it is as sound as a pound. £825 including Hiscox Liteflight case and spare set of Status Hotwires 45-105 gauge Collection only from Horley, Surrey (near Gatwick Airport)
11. Final bump before I change my mind
12.
Not really. The maker's stated impedance is the nominal (within a degree of accuracy) across a range of frequencies. Slightly lower at lower frequencies and increasing at the high end. As a guide, the DC (no frequency) resistance of an "8ohm" driver is about 6 ohms. The point is, that at the same frequencies that an 8 ohm driver is actually 8 ohms, the 4ohm driver will be actually 4 ohms. They don't cross into each other's range. They are still different. You still don't want 2 X 4ohm cabs in parallel. (buuzzzzert poof!) On the other hand, if you're saying that the only real difference (in a solid state system) between 4, 6, or 8ohms is ego, then I completely agree. I have also been that idiot and paid the price in complexity and inflexibility. If Barefaced had made the Super 12T in 8 ohms, I'd have bitten his hand off for it. One day I might even ask about a driver switch.
Yeah sorry, answering topics on my phone means I don't go into huge detail so it could be misconstrued. I was just trying to point out that a nominal 6 ohms isn't going to be that much different from a nominal 4
13. Remember also that an 8 ohm cab is only 8 ohm at certain frequency/ies - it's higher than that the rest of the time. So the difference between 8, 6 and 4 is basically the number an not an awful lot else.
14. Always liked the look of these, this is a cracker Congrats and enjoy!
15. If I don't make it this year I will cry. A lot.
16. NYD bump
17. I have a set, PM me and I'll send them to you
18. Yeah perfect fit physically and sonically - cracking combination!
19. Wow Heard nothing but good things about these, GLWTS
20. Sold Bought new earlier this year to replace a CTM100, I've been offered another CTM100 locally for a silly price and miss the extra headroom it provides. As discussed on Jay's Spyder 550 thread I can't justify both as I'm about to get married... With the right cab this is very giggable, especially if you like overdriven tones, and it's perfect for home and practices both in terms of output and portability. I have a 4mm padded RoqSolid cover with this and changed the standard black knobs to the cream chicken heads used on the 100 and 300 models. Will also supply with a Rock-Wire jack/jack speaker cable, spare knob and spare bulb for the VU meter. Ideally collection only (BR8 or RH6 postcode) for £300, add £25 for UK shipping as I'll have to get some decent packaging for it.
21. TBH she sinks more money per month into a big four legged bitey kicky thing (she calls it a "horse"???) than I do in 6 months with my basses so maybe.... Will see what occurs over the next few weeks
22. Yeah I think it can! It's a bit cleaner and brighter in its natural core tone, partly down to the preamp and partly down to the power amp (and power supply I suspect) but you can dial in the darker ABM-ness pretty easily. They are two of my favourite amps now
23. Realistically think I'll have to pass on the Spyder, this marriage thing has got me licked just like you guys said! GLWTS, great amp
24. RIP Lemmy
