  1. Yep I’ve used my old SVT212 AV 4ohm cab with the ELF and it was fine in a very loud rock band !!
  2. I’ve done setups on my own guitars and basses for 20yrs or more after having Martin Booth ( ex Yamaha fame ) set up my PRS and talk me through it ! Its very satisfying and a must have skill if you play a stringed instrument. Very rare a bass arrives set up correctly or to your liking. A good setup can make a good bass a great bass and it’s very rewarding to do it for yourself!
  3. Ashdown RM800 EVO II As new condition Mains lead included Shipping in U.K. included
  4. I’m a PBass player and I know that woolly tone you speak of ! My cure was better amps, better cabs and sticking with Roundwounds It really brings the PBass to life in a band with fresh strings and it doesn’t have to be woolly but clear and full I tried pickup changes in the past and the Dimarzio P was an aggressive upgrade with gnarly mids but today I’m happy with stock pickups that came in both my basses as they cover most of the tonal range I seek
  5. I’ve been disappointed with Guitar Guitar too sending out B stock looking guitars or “ old” stock My chosen place now will be Peach Guitars where I visit, see, try it and purchase For that very reason they got my last two PBass business and I’m pleased with both There really is an advantage of seeing and trying a bass in a store. My last and final purchase Player Series II PBass in White sounded amazing yet the green coloured one with maple fretboard sounded ok but not as defined and punchy as the one I walked out with !
  6. When I had my TE Elf its plan was the smallest back up amp to my all valve head in case of valve failure mid gig. Tried it with the band ( loud ) and it was awesome but could it run like that for 3hrs I’m not sure as never had to. Eventually sold it as I found no need for it since I sold off my V4B The Eich T900 is bigger and it sounds awesome and is as light as I would care for and a better size for good cooling fans etc Too light they are easily pulled off a cab etc and they look kinda puny on a big cab !! It was a shame the Elf wasn’t bigger and had a Speakon connector so as a spare it would quickly be swopped over mid gig without changing to a Speakon / Jack lead
  7. Tried a few and then decided I just didn’t need one ! MXR, Boss, Ampeg all worked well but added little if anything so I stopped using one
  8. To be fair the fan is a little noisy but in a band it matters none At home or studio it would be a pain
  9. Looks like the new project are aiming more towards soft rock / pop / R&B styles with a touch of soul perhaps
  10. I’m playing at the moment with the Yellow Dunlop 0.73mm standard shape Starting to see why it works better than a thicker pick as it adds a springy feel of compression to the attack
  11. 10:30 in Needham Market ? I will send you my details
  12. I’m here this afternoon but tomorrow I will be heading out from 11am to late afternoon unless you wanted to meet enroute as I’m heading Cambridge way tomorrow late morning
  13. Could you collect tonight ?
  14. Don’t know any of them so probably not !! More Motown / R&B / Pop Soul
  15. Looking for suggestions of songs for a new venture I’m considering Anybody give me some song ideas of easier to play pop / Soft Rock / R&B stuff ? No slap please !! This would be for pub / function bands
  16. Did you mean today or tomorrow? Tomorrow I can do 11:30 - 12:00 near Cambridge area possibly today but I’m waiting on UPS to collect a parcel and I’m not sure what time yet Let me know if that works for you ?
  17. I felt that “ daydreaming “ feeling and what am I doing here at a recent audition !! The songs were dull, slow plodders that made me think what the hell are you doing !! If it doesn’t work for you anymore then a break or new band is possibly the answer
  18. If meeting Diss it would be a handover only as I live 30mins south in Needham Market 👍
  19. And you’re only an hour away approx !!
  20. Lovely looking bass .. can’t beat a PBass !
  21. Picks and shapes of / gauges / material were something I spent two years on looking for the right pick for playing rock Not only does triangle sized picks help I find when playing live ( never drop them ) but teardrop I found turn in your fingers slightly especially on fast picked songs. Material of pick makes a difference to tone IE Nylon picks are softer / warmer sounding and although I never tried them felt picks mimic finger tone. Type of bass also makes a difference to best suited to pick playing ( in my experience) Best bass by far seems to be a PBass as it’s got the deep bass and low mids already, back off the treble and it’s a perfect rock tone I find the thicker 2mm upwards added nothing apart from finger fatigue ! I agree thinner such as 0.73, 0.88,1.0, etc are better gauges for playing several songs or whole set with a pick Finally you may want to tweek your amp tone EQ if playing mostly with a pick and watch the input levels on the amp as pick playing in the main is louder than finger style for the majority of bassists
  22. Are you the chap in Norfolk ? Happy meet up half way say Diss area ?
  23. I had suede on the underside of my straps but I went back to leather smooth both sides and it stops your shirt being pulled about which looks goofy on stage !! Levys straps with leather both sides don’t slip as much as some but are not grippy like suede
  24. I’m selling two basses and a cab at this stage Will be selling my RM800 EVO II as well ( had it checked over at Ashdown )
  25. Sterling Stingray Ray34 in Flame Top Teal finish with roasted maple neck Lovely bass purchased this year from Guitar Guitar ( £1200 ) Sterling gig bag included and can be shipped if buyer arranges courier collection after payment
