I recall reading that and I never weighed mine but I would say nearer to 27kg ( I think shipped weight it’s probably 30kg ) I could carry it a sensible distance from car to pub but I’m a big strong guy so it wasn’t too bad. A trolley / dolly works too if weight is an issue The voicing of the cab is what matches well with the V4B Not the most efficient cab but god does it look great and sound lovely as a rig.

Pubs and venues to be protected from noise complaintsBassAdder60 replied to Cliff Edge's topic in General Discussion I live in a road where you can hear the trains ( I chose to move here and never once considered complaining about the noise ) The trains were here first and the development built later Thankfully good insulation and windows and noise isn’t too bad and you get use to the background noise I’m sure someone has complained as is always the case ! Our local pub no longer has bands only duos etc based on one complaint from a new arrival who didn’t like noise at 10:30pm or earlier ! Pub trade fell off and I’m sure it will close thanks to one person whereas hundreds will miss out on yet another facility!

Pubs and venues to be protected from noise complaintsBassAdder60 replied to Cliff Edge's topic in General Discussion I think if we listened to all the complaints and moans from disgruntled folk and acted on them we would live in a very boring sterile non human kind of existence! The fact is so many things happen now in society that are far more horrific and offensive compared to occasional noise issues Some folk have forgotten what it’s like to have fun !!

Pubs and venues to be protected from noise complaintsBassAdder60 replied to Cliff Edge's topic in General Discussion I think it’s a shame we have become less tolerant of others having fun Many established music venues destroyed due to noise complaints often from one individual! People jumping on the mental health issue ( seems to be any reason these days it’s stated ) Granted in some cases of course it’s valid but perhaps it’s more down to lack of respect and tolerance. We really just don’t have much of it these days, proportionate fun and live and let live should be more the thing like it seemed to be years back Jeez we are all musicians on here and music comes with volume which we should applaud and congratulate any opportunity to keep venues open for music.

Grab the SVT212AV cab and a perfect sonic and visual match
-
Yep it’s a great amp for sure I found not using Ultra Low but more bass in my EQ and it kept the mids very punchy in the band It’s very loud for a 100w amp and has a different feel playing notes If you’re a pick player then Ultra Low on would definitely work Glad you like it

Assuming you’re just looking for stage volume and it’s mostly di out to a large PA rig then a decent 210 cab would suffice Rumble cabs tend to fart out when pushed and I’m not too sure they would handle the low B that well But they are reasonably priced If you don’t mind heavy gear then the Ampeg SVT 212 AV is a great single use cab and sounds similar to 610 and 810 Ampeg cabs. A decent 500w head should be fine, Darkglass are very good but so many others to consider and if you need drive just run a boss ODB3 in front or Spark Booster job done Amp Brands to choose Ashdown Ampeg Laney Aguilar ToneHammer Make sure they have a DI output Ive always found the best sound comes from heavier gear but some lightweight gear is a close second these days or some would say as good as especially the top end priced cabs Dont cheap out on cabs as they are more important than amps in many cases

Better video but didn’t hear a lot of difference when they changed the settings And the annoying wah wah guitar playing doesn’t help either ! Come on Laney you can show products better than this !!
-
Yep I agree that’s the place to start Raise input gain until it’s too gnarly and start off with flat EQ and mid selector on 800 and go from there Shouldn’t be any crackles or odd noises coming from the pre amp tubes and enjoy its glory !
-
So sad RIP to the great man of metal 🤟
-
Exactly what I thought. She may of well played a guitar through the amp instead of a bass ! That titting about on the fretboard doesn’t show an amp off for bass
-
Don’t use Ultra Low or Ultra High ( it doesn’t need them ) although if you’re a pick player Ultra Low is nice to use Mid selector 800 HZ was my preferred It was easy to get a good tone with bass mid treble using above settings and balance gain / master volume to taste Mine was running master volume around 12 o clock at loud gigs and it was not breaking up which was the sound I wanted Naturally if you crank the input gain it will sound more raspy etc etc It sounds better as the night wears on as the power tubes get nice and warm Finally never turn it on without cab connected !!!

	Good result 👍

Another great feature is the SVT212AV cab has feet cups on the top for the V4B head to fit into. Head isn’t going anywhere! At a rowdy gig I turned away from some punters that were getting too close, I tripped and fell towards my amp. The V4B didn’t budge and stopped me from falling and breaking my bass !! So heavy amps still have the occasional advantage !
-
The SVT212AV is heavy for sure but it’s a great match for the V4B. It may be the perfect match, sure looks sexy as hell as a rig though ! I lugged mine around and I’m 65 !!
-
Oh and there’s a V4 guitar amp with reverb so forget that old model too !!
-
https://www.bassgearmag.com/v-4b-old-vs-new-head-to-head/ read all about it !!
-
Avoid !! Get a new or secondhand by only a few years as I think that’s the better route
-
Made to be affordable but I think with the Foundry guitar series they went a little too far. Shame as Laney have some great amps
-
Hopefully better than the appalling Foundry Series guitar amps Very cheaply built which was a shame as they sounded ok but build quality was shocking

After picking up the excellent MB102Energy cab from a fellow basschatter my LM4 arrived from Thomann ( considerably lower in price to U.K. stores ) Sat it on top of cab and played my PBass through it 1: Wow this is a loud amp considering I’m going into a single 8ohm cab 2: Quiet ( I’ve read noisy fan complaints but this 2025 model is very quiet. 3: EQ is excellent and the 4 band works very well. 4: Mute Function 5: Selector for flat or scooped EQ works well, footswitchable too 6: Old School control rolls off the top end and makes it sound more like an old Ashdown amp warm and slightly woolly ! 7: Light ( preferred the LM4 as it’s a metal case, 58R is plastic ) 8: Sound is very good, clear punchy and makes a good match with a PBass Very pleased with this rig and not out of place at home or jam sessions, rehearsals and gigs I used a rubber mat under the amp ( light heads I normally do ) and stops feet indentation marks in the fur covering !

-
Yep I found the SVT 3 Pro under powered The PF800 under powered too for what should be an 800w amp
