1. Good luck to you all. It was 3 months before I got my compact.
 2.
Where's the best place to get them from?
I've seen sets for sale on ebay
 3. Will you be making an appearance at Edinburgh again this year? I enjoyed the last two shows of yours I went to.
 4. Having owned a MIJ Geddy, which was an impeccably built bass, I wondered how MIM basses would compare. From what I hear they are just as good as the Japanese ones. I know that the Mexican factory can produce some lovely instruments having owned a MIM custom shop designed 'Classic Player' Stratocaster. I've also heard great things about the 'Road Worn' basses too. One thing I have noticed, is that they no longer use the 'Fender Original pickups' and have gone with the 'American Vintage' pickups instead. Having said that the Mexican Vintage Alnico pickups they have in the 'Road Worn' Jazzes are great pickups. They should have fitted them in the Geddy. I have a set fitted in my bass and they sound excellent.
 5.
I'm interest actually ...... because i'm planning to switch back to fender pickups. I use dimarzio dp123.
Do it! You know you want to.
 6.
Not so cheap in the end then......
The soundclip obviously did the business. It did sound very nice. It went for about twice what it cost originally in the early 80s.
 7. I whacked an eminence Kappa into my old Ashdown EB 150 when I needed a speaker cab that could handle 500watts in an emergency (a between cabs situation). It sounds great (no distortion and super loud/clear) and I frankly just can't justify buying an expensive cab when it sounds so good.
 8. Does the fact that John Taylor owned it make it more valuable or less valuable than a bog standard Aria SB1000?
 9. I play blues and when I, or the guitarist, makes a mistake we call it 'Jazz'.
 10.
i no longer have those stock pickup ...... change them for dimarzio dp123 long time ago but really regret now because i like the original pickup ......
I tried the DiMarzio 123 pickups but found them too dark and bassy. You won't get the sound you're looking for with those pickups. I recommend you buy these for £30 which will help you a lot in your quest. Strangely enough the guy who is selling them swopped them for Model Js 123 pickups. 11. These are very nice well made MIJ Squiers form the early 90s. This one has an added Kent Armstrong humbucker at the bridge. Worth £200 of anybody's money in my opinion..........nice. 12. Interesting that you're having problems getting that punchy clank thing Jazz basses are so renowned for. Every Jazz bass I ever had had that sound. Your bass has the Mexican Vintage Alnico pickups which also are used for the road worn bass. I have them fitted to my Jazz too and have no problem getting the sound you're looking for. I recommend you lower the action and remove any bridge or pickup covers you have so you can really dig in. This is a Fender road worn with your pickups in it getting the sound you're looking for. 13. I've got the slightly softer Tribal planet gigbag and that big pocket does indeed hold my Ashdown MiBass head. Great bags! Have a bump.
 14.
Different headstock/truss rod access altogether. It's actually the same as the Cimar basses which came out of Fujigen just like the the Ibanez's, but had a few changes of headstock. The one in the link was only used for a short while before they went over to the curvy one like they had on the blazer basses.
Aha!
 15.
Going cheap? How do you know if it's cheap or not until the auction ends?
Of course you're right. I meant cheaper than a 76 Fender Jazz. But probably just as good judging from the soundclips.
 16.
Looks lovely, but he's out on the date - it's from about 1980.
This is the 1976 Ibanez catalogue http://s93105080.onlinehome.us/Ibanez-Catalogs/catalog/1976-1/04.jpg
 17.
I love threads like that, I can get lost in them for ages. Like that Israeli guy making a lightweight resonant Jazz, that was an amazing thread. Please don't ask me to find it, I can't remember any useful keywords
Yes I saw that too. Fantastic.
 18. Lovely looking and sounding Japanese CSL bass. The soundclips show how great this bass sounds. I'd buy it if I didn't have a great sounding Jazz already. You can certainly see why these basses made Fender nervous in the 70s. 19.
This sounds like you have the wrong kind of pots. Maybe not, but I had that problem before. Turns out I had linear pots, and I needed logarithm pots. It sorted it for me, but it could be another problem in your case. Check the wiring against a schematic, because somebody could have changed the pots at one point and it wasn't done right.
+1 I think somebody has been fiddling about with the electrics. My old Indonesian standard Squier Jazz sounded great. You can buy set of pre wired pots with solderless connections from KiOgon on basschat like I did when I had a similar problem with another jazz I owned.. Takes about 10 mins to fit on the bass and no more problems. Cheaper than taking it to a tech. This is his feedback thread. Nothing but happy customers. 20. What about an Ashdown MiBass 550 and Mi12 cab. Very light and Doddy uses his for every gig he does. I really like the head (I have one) and the Mi12 looks light and is loud too according to doddy. There's a thread on the here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/185964-nad-ashdown-mi12/page__hl__mibass
 21.
Not being funny but they sound like a bunch of dicks. Anyone with arrogance to take the opportunity to score you on a piece of paper and record you (for whatever benefit) after you've been assured that it was meant to be light-hearted audition I'd be steering very well clear of. Think of it less that you've cocked up and more like you've dodged a bullet. And nice one for plucking up the courage to do something outside your comfort zone, onwards and upwards.
I second that emotion.
 22. I'm in a band where the singer and guitarist are married. The only time they ever have an argument is onstage during gigs. Their onstage spats are legendary. They've been together as a band for about 15 years. They have to be the exception that proves the rule.
 23. Great little amp. I used to have it's big brother the TV15 which I loved. If I had the cash I'd buy it today but alas I don't. Here's a video of Ed Freidland saying nice things about it to help you with your sale http://youtu.be/A93b2V7ymf8
 24. I tell a lie. Changed to larger gauge strings and it works. That'll come in handy as a lot of songs my band plays are in F. I can now play them in E. Result!
 25. Tried one the other day as I'd learned a song in F# and the singer wanted to sing it in F. It didn't work........
