4 Strings

I saw this in Currys recently. Various colours in various states of supposed wear and tear. Funny how some items seemingly need to be shiny, others, seemingly, need to have been owned for years and well used. Strings more lively than the solo. How does that scratch plate work though?

Nothing wrong with a decent P, is all you actually need and many famous players seem to gravitate to them eventually. Congrats! I notice yours has a skunk stripe at the back. Is it a one piece neck or a separate maple fingerboard? Also, that G string position away from the edge would bug me also. The older Fenders used to have multiple grooved string saddles. We just played festival in Bedfordshire. We needed to use our dep keys player, he charges £150. That's the deal, nothing to do with him what we get paid. As it turned out we got paid £250 but the organisers at the end so it was easy to pay him, otherwise, it was our choice to do the gig, knowing we'd need to stump up £150 from band funds.

The £12500 is almost nothing to do with how 'good' the bass is, it's more to do with it becoming a 'collectable'. The thorn in the side of affluent society. It could easily be argued that equivalent new basses are almost all better than the old ones. More stable necks, better production and quality control etc. Rather like cars, which are much better designs, better made and last way longer than the old ones, but how nice to see a Morris 1000 or a DB5 driving along!

Been to one couple of years ago. I understand it was £600 and required at least 20 people present. He was great, lots of songs and stories, plenty of shredding on his acoustic and he hung around for ages afterwards with a drink and chatting.

We play Motown and soul in and around London/Essex and wider afield. Celebrated our 100th gig last year, album selling well, two more planned and 30 odd bookings already in for 2015. Mostly secular gigs but some Christian gigs too (you don't have to be a Christian yourself). We looking for a keyboard player to provide keys, strings and brass parts to well known Motown, soul and funk songs. Can either cover for certain dates or be in the 'first team', whatever you can do. Fronted by 3 girls plus guitar, bass, drums, sax Rehearsals in East London. All gigs cover expenses, some will be paid. Fancy it, or know anyone who does?

Regular gigs, chose a Genz Streamliner 900 and a BF Midget T, never wanted anything else. (Also bought a BF Compact, but not had cause to use it). I can only think of a Super Midget to make me happier.

Great fun! If the 20th anniversary versions have bling, then they're not for me. I love the utility of a Stingray and it's brutish qualities. Gold plating, fancy tops, binding or any other sort of niceness seems to detract.

I listened to a radio programme on Gerry Rafferty a while back and he said that line was originally for guitar. Someone had the idea for it to be sax and, perhaps because Raphael played it so beautifully (timing is excellent!), it stuck. It's certainly the stand out of that track and has made it the most famous of Rafferty's work.
