1. Couldn't agree more. I have a Bonafide (basically two Puma 500s in one casing) and a 300. Fab amps.
2. When I started on 5s I found just playing a walking bass line over and over really helped, as instead of shifting up you can drop down without shifting hand position.
3.
or "polishing your chops"....
I've heard of marbled meat, but.... You'll be saying it makes you "play like butter" next Owen
4. Put a piece of dowel, that fits the hole well, in from the other side and tap out gently with a hammer.
5. Brill amp, even briller price
6. Hello folks During my conversion to a Tecamp backline late last year, I purchased the last Dream Buzz Deluxe pedal they made. However, now I've calmed down a bit I realise that it's over the top for what I need, so it's up for sale. (Stock Image) This is the most refined overdrive pedal I've ever had. It can do anything from mild, tube-like warmth to full on "cut your head off" metal mayhem! Turn the Buzz control down and you can also use it as a volume boost or eq pedal. Quick video shot on the iPad here. No loss of bottom end with this pedal. Best wear headphones, and forgive my amateurish playing.... http://youtu.be/5rSz47F1oLg I noticed that the Contour control is a little scratchy, but I suspect some cleaner will sort it. I have tested it using a 9V battery but don't have an external PSU to sell it with. It comes in the original box and is unused save for testing. New, these were about 200 euros and never very plentiful on the market. As I said above, this is the last one made, and is yours for £125 posted using 2nd Class Recorded Delivery. Thanks for looking. Gareth
7. Taken off my new Franz. Unused. Price includes 2nd class Recorded.
8. Woodwork all done. Can't wait to see the finish on this!
9. If yours are 37" as above, then yes, the long scale should fit.
10.
Thanks. Does this feel in any way textured?
No, they feel very smooth under the fingers.
11. Standard long scale La Bellas are 37" from ball to start of the silks, so suggest you measure your bass to see if they fit. Don't let the 60-115 fool you, the tension is just fine, quite low actually... You can see how fine the wrap is on the new black nylons in this pic of my bass (open image in a new tab for full size!)
12.
For the feel under fingers, Labella Black nylon strings are smooth, it slides a lot. Whereas Labella White nylons are rough to the touch, i like it. It reminds roundwounds.
That's a good point. The whites are flat, but you can feel the windings more than on the new blacks.
13. Go with the whites if you want bright, black if you want dark.
14. I think black or white would work on your bass. Whites used to be noticeably smoother than the blacks, but I have just fitted a new set of blacks to a bass and they are very smooth so perhaps the manufacturing process has changed. The other thing to keep in mind is the tome. Black nylon is the darkest and white the brightest of the white nylons, with copper white and gold white in between. And yes, they are white with a hint of silver showing through.
15. Popped some La Bella black nylons on and thought I'd snap a few more pictures at the same time
16. I think older model Tecamp heads have Powersoft power modules fitted, whereas newer ones are ICE.
17. Oldman has the new 1000 head.
18.
My first thought would be just to try heavier strings.
And/or a different brand...
19.
Approx 94cm on the B to 96.5cm on the G.
Thanks for getting back to me. Too short unfortunately.
20.
Absolutely stunning!
Thanks Si
21. What is the length to the start of the silk windings at the headstock please?
22.
Looking good Gareth! Not long to go now.
Thanks Ian. Your new bass looks fab as well
23. Neck and pickup cavities cut. It's getting closer!
