1.
I'm not exactly sure where the crossover point is
It's 3.5k
Bassgear, near Reading, have a used one at the moment, that they claim is in vvgc. Been humming and hawing about it, but am sticking with my PJBs. May be worth a look.
Was my cab. Superb, just too big. Plenty loud enough even at 8 ohms for my needs. Condition is, indeed, very good.
2.
How much is it? *Winces*
Well, from Thomann, this fretless 5 is currently 7899 euros...
3. Yes, the Contra is amazing, but so is the price tag!
4. Lovely amps, great buyer, what's not to like?
5. Due in the UK in December, I believe, with an RRP of £1050.
6. Hi Nick I might go for these. I assume they are the 45/65/85/105/128 set? Cheers Gareth
7.
LS-2 Out -> Tuner in
D'oh, of course!
8. Thanks chaps, and if I wanted to have a tuner available to both, presumably just put that in front of the LS2?
9. I sold a Radial Bigshot to Etienne, and as usual he was polite, paid promptly and communicated well. He's 100% reliable and I would happily transact with him again.
10. Is it possible to run an LS2 with two basses, one bass clean and one with its own effects loop?
11. Hello Al There is no volume adjustment on Channel B. Have you tried your electric in A, without the piezo switched to 10 MOhm, and the upright in B? Cheers Gareth
12. How to make a great bass better? Add a Noll preamp. Neck stack is volume on top and midrange below, pull up for passive operation. Bridge stack is passive tone on top with bass below. It's whisper quiet and suits the bass perfectly. Installed by our very own OBBM - thanks Dave! Original passive setup New active setup And the stack knobs
13. Thanks for that. My understanding is that the screw Dunlop use isn't your run of the mill head, so may not be easy to find a direct alternative. However, it's no big deal really. Cheers Gareth
14. Hello all I'm sure I've seen extra long screws for Dunlop Straploks somewhere in the past. I think they utilised a hex key rather than a Phillips screwdriver. Anyone know where I can find them? Thanks Gareth
15. I've dabbled with Octave Mandolin, Bouzouki and Tenor Guitar, as they can all be tuned the same (EADG, high to low). Great fun to play, and the Octave is much easier to navigate those thick bass player fingers around than the teeny tiny regular mandolin. Tuning is in 5ths, not 4ths, and the chord shapes are totally unlike guitar, but if you're willing to put the time in it's a very rewarding instrument to play. There are a few mid-range makes out there, especially if you consider tenors and bouzoukis as well.
16.
If you plan to upgrade can I have first dibs on the D800??
17. Damn it, I just bought the D800. If I'd known this was coming.......
18. Less than a month old Radial Bigshot i/o Instrument Selector and box. Only used to check all works well, which it does, and to attach the rubber feet. This is a fantastic pedal that allows for switching between two instruments and balancing the volume between them too. It's true bypass and passive too, so no batteries needed. It has a tuner out and a mute too. Currently retailing at £88 posted, I'm firm on £70 posted.
