  1. So I've just installed some Bartolini MK6CBC pickups in a bass. All great and sounding good apart from the fact that as they are only held in place by one screw at each end they wobble like crazy, plus the screws (#4 pan head 1 1/4" long) are only just long enough for the job. There are two springs surrounded by foam about 30% of the way in from each end. My first thought is to add foam at either end of the pickup, with a small hole cut to allow the screw clear access. I'd like to steer clear of the central part of the pickup as that's where all the wiring is. I also need to find some slightly longer screws, as the 1 1/4" ones really aren't quite long enough. I thought this would be easy! What does the BC collective think is the best way forward?
  2. Thanks, both. Yes, I think I've got fairly close now using the octave and fuzz in my Boss MS-3.
  3. Just completed my first pickup and active preamp install. Pretty chuffed with myself :)

  4. Removed from a new Cort bass. This is a 3 band eq plus toggle switch to turn the EQ off. I'll include a wiring diagram from Cort, which should help with the install. I'm also selling the MK1 pickups these are usually paired with in a separate ad. £50 seems the going rate, from past sales of these on BC.
  5. Removed from a new Cort 5 string bass, I believe these are passive single coil pickups. They are 108.2mm long and 33.5mm wide. From past BC sales £50 seems the going rate, plus £3 postage.
  6. An extremely versatile 1k amp for under £450? This is an amazing deal.

  8. They've made me a few standard items and a couple of custom one-offs over the years. Superb quality and service!
  9. I use Weller Rl60/40-250 General Purpose Solder Resin Core, which is lovely to work with.
  10. I was just watching the basstheworld video of this earlier today!
  11. Two fab looking basses! Are the pickups on the SCMS parallel to each other, or is the bridge pickup angled slightly more to the bass strings? I can never tell from photos of these basses!!!
  12. I sold Oli a bass and he was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I'd happily transact with him again.
  13. I guess they assume most people swap them out with an existing five screw bridge...
  14. These are superb heads. The EQ is spot on and the ability to switch both the EQ and the preshapes in and out is so useful.
  15. Brand new in the bag. Fender Hi Mass bridge. 5 screw fitting. Price includes postage.
  16. I have the same, a small lump on top of the second knuckle of my ring finger. I've had two ganglions removed in the past and still have a few others, so I'm just putting up with them.
  17. I've used them for thirty years now. Have a choice of filters so I can adjust the attenuation according to the gig. Like others have said, I wouldn't be gigging today (or going to gigs still) if I hadn't started using them when I did. Funnily enough my daughter, who's 20 and studying music and sound recording at uni, has been to be fitted for her first pair today.
  18. I have a Player. It's fab - super resonant, lightweight, good balance. Everything a good P should be.
  19. I used a lot of Trace gear back in the day, but I don't ever remember seeing a combo in this configuration before. Built like a tank, and weighing like one too, no doubt!
  20. I rocked Pictao strung Wals through Trace Elliot for many years back in the day, but it wasn't a conscious decision to use all UK-made stuff. I've used a lot of different stuff since then, but now I use German basses and cabs with an American amp. It's the perfect set up for me. Although I might well be buying another Trace amp soon....
  21. I bought my first set direct from Italy, but Bass Direct now have stock too and at a better price.
