  1. These are from our Xmas gig last Saturday... punter numbers down on previous years for obvious reasons but still a good enthusiastic crowd. Apologies for some of the bass fluffs, I could blame it on the fact that I usually play these songs on a 4 string but was having to use my V7 fiver, but that's no excuse for sloppy playing Suzanne Beware.mp4 Too Much Pressure.mp4
  2. Radio 2 really is the perfect early morning listening...

...'cos if there's one thing guaranteed to get me up and at 'em, out of bed and away from the alarm, it's Zoe fecking Ball's vacuous yakking and her incessant, relentless bloody Strictly fixation.

    SHUT. UP.

I think she's alright actually, as far as they go on that station.  Plays some good tunes too.

We obviously have a different interpretation of "good"

The Thursday morning quiz is the only thing I like about her show.

Thurs morning quiz is good, but I find ZB a tad overly excitable for a morning show, which is strange as I liked Chris Evans when he did the morning show and he`s no sloth in those areas. But imo Radio 2s gems are Ken Bruce & Sara Cox (and used to really enjoy the late night shows with Huey Morgan and Ana Matronic on the way home from gigs).

  4. B for búggered, it would appear.
  5. Wow. That is quite breathtaking. But not in a good way.
  6. Funny you should say that... I did consider a G&L-esque pointy bit for a while, but I figured it would have been a bit of a woodworking nightmare waiting to happen
  7. Some folks here would give you an altogether different opinion of the owner... there was some proper unpleasantness back in the day.
  8. I've drawn a trial tracing of the Aria shape on it. Definitely liking this. As long as the decal follows the curve nicely, I think I'll go with it.
  9. Yup, but the upward bit at the end makes it impossible alas. For me, anyway.
  10. Yes, that's not at all unattractive. Although it's a bit closer to the F*nd*r shape than I'm looking for... I'm definitely starting to lean towards the newer Aria shape in my original post. The gradual curves will I think make it an easier cut than the Peavey, and I think it's a more balanced shape than the Wal.
  11. I fear that there is no way on earth I could ever live up to its coolness.
  12. New neck turned up yesterday, it's one of these things with a blank canvas for a headstock: The question is: what shape to choose? The one thing it's definitely NOT getting is a P/J/T shape. I've been checking a few out and there's a couple that have floated my boat (Wal, Peavey, Aria, see below) but I haven't decided yet. Any ideas? Sensible ones plz. I've got a custom 70s-Fender-alike headstock decal coming, so there's got to be room for that. I like the curve on the bottom of the Wal & Aria ones, as I could make it match the decal.
  13. It's not just music gigs. I bought tickets to see Ed Byrne in March 2020, it subsequently sold out. The gig was postponed to March this year and then again to last week. The hall was half empty.
  14. Things you get told on Facebook groups:

Apparently, saying that I wouldn't shed any tears if a pair of child torturers/murderers got the sht kicked out of them in prison actually makes me a worse person than the two killers themselves.

Blimey. All this time I thought I was a bit of a bleeding-heart pinko lib, but it seems I'm an absolute rank amateur.

I think Daz hit the nail on the head, reform wherever possible has to be the aim, but sometimes society just needs a break from some types - as famously put to Messrs Kray a few years back.

@Rich I'm 100% with you mate, in fact I would go further and actually offer to kick the sht out of them.

One wonders how the people in Liverpool who were throwing bricks at the prison van transporting the then 10 years old Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, would have viewed an adult who killed them?

  15. This morning my laptop has refused to communicate with tinternet for some reason. This is quite serious as it means I can't connect to the office servers and will therefore be unable to do any work today (phone is ok hence this post). I've tried everything I can think of but unfortunately even after much swearing and bashing of keys...

    ...it's started working perfectly.

Damn. *puts bass down again* >:(

...and everything was going perfectly till it started working again.

  16. Went to an Ed Byrne gig last night... postponed from March 2020 :o well worth the wait though, haven't laughed so much in ages.

He's really superb, isn't he? I think I must've caught one of the very last dates on that tour before it got called off!

  17. I love the way old gear sounds -- the combination of my old Trace GP12SMX head and SWR Triad cab was the best sound I have ever had. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps. But I'm simply too old and knackered to go lugging huge amps and 100lb cabs around any more. My back just won't take it.
  18. I play a few of the ska band's songs with a pick... some for the feel, and some purely for the harder tone it gives. A couple of my favourites are Rancid's 'Time Bomb' and The Beat's 'Mirror In The Bathroom'.
  19. Sorry, I slept through most of the list. Did I miss anything?
  20. Ska band's xmas gig this coming Saturday. Been sold out for ages.

Rhythm guitarist has just tested +ve.

    BoIIocks. :(

Get him a mask and a bottle of oxygen and play wirelessly from the car park. 🎸🎸

Could have been worse, could have been the bass player!

  21. But then she bollokcsed it all up by saying that Jazz Basses were only any good for "walking around going dink-dink-dink"
  22. Have a look at this... well worth a punt. Mine are superb. You don't have to be a pro musician to be eligible.
  23. My custom moulded plugs are probably the best money I have ever spent. I put mine in before soundcheck last night and didn't take them out again until we started tearing down afterwards. I didn't realise how loud the ambient noise in the pub was until I took them out! What sort of plugs are you using, @theplumber? EDIT: definitely the best money I have ever spent.
  24. Fired rig up earlier. Rack compressor dead. Not a thing. Damn.

Grumpy face on. Start playing. Sound is feckin gorgeous :) happy face on.

So, that's going to be an empty 1U space then

      Dood

Empty space? I leapt on a TC C300 going cheap the other day. Bargain and brilliant!

  25. Because life is too short for nitpicky minutiae, and I’ve got a gig to prepare for.
