i tend to not do a lot with mine, occasionally i will clean them with string cleaner, but generally i just play them until they are so far dead there is no hope
With the boss Micro Br I think you're best bet is to convert each of the individual instruments / takes you recorded onto the BR as WAV files and import them / upload them that way. Make sure when you do this that anything that comes in later in the track / song still record the silence that comes before it comes in so it has a starting reference point in reaper. I am assuming you haven't bounced all the tracks down to the stereo master stage?
this, if you are importing from the boss, it may be doing it as one track and not the individuals. if you have the individual instrument tracks on your computer, you should just be able to drag and drop them into reaper

i tend to sing the songs and other songs quietly on the way to gigs to start, and then stretch out my jaw muscles and mouth etc whilst doing notes up and down a range, i can't say im religious, but ive pushed my voice to far in the past so now i take more care.

Using DAWs other than your regular, learning experience?
RockfordStone replied to Sean's topic in Recording
i bounced between reaper and cubase as well as using a programme called riffworks. i found that because i didn't have the same native instruments or effects it did make me think differently, sometimes stepping outside your comfort zone helps. on another note, stick with graham, also check out his buddy joe gilder. they also do a thing called duelling mixes which is a monthly challenge where other people get involved. it does cost, i did it much of last year but my time now doesnt allow me to do it, but worth looking at. the home recording show is also a good thing to listen to. -
if the guy used his mobile to contact you about the audition then i would contact the police and give them that number, chances are he is dumb enough that it is his own phone, any contact information etc. regardless of how much it is, theft is theft, i'd give them a call, and if the rest of your band were there then they can act as witnesses surely?

round my area (cambridge) its not so much the scene but the venues. since i have been here several decent sized venues have been sold off to be turned into trendy wine bars or food providing pubs and as such the venue element of them has been lost... there are enough bands around to fill venues every night of the week and people do go to shows, its just finding places to play them

good processor, ramm ramm and more ramm and ssd hard drive. i have just built a 3.5ghz quadcore machine with 16gb ramm and ssd hard drive, with a fast speed hard drive to run my projects from, the more pressure you can take of the system the better in my experience.

i would highly recommend reaper, its cheap but very powerful, i have just left cubase and am moving to reaper exclusively now

i am just going to miss out i think, computer is up and running finally but took longer than id hoped so now i have no time this week to do anything
Fan of both bands, so win win here. Just spent about half hour watching clips, despite quality, all good. Do have some concerns about the future of Alkaline Trio too. From the perspective of Tom, I enjoyed Box Car Racer and like AVA quite a lot, so (hopfully) a win there too.
I don't think think Matt will leave Alkaline Trio for blink personally, would be interesting to see them do any album, but his styling is too dark for blink imo. I do feel blink has run its course tho... you can't live on cock jokes into your 40's. Neighbourhoods was a decent album, and the follow up ep was good, but the fact the band never got in a room together in the recording phase says it all. If skiba, hoppus and barker did an entirely seperate and different band that would be interesting. I love all bands involved and don't like how its all got messy again, i guess we will just have to see what happens.

all right now by free... i forget most things when in the spotlight, so something without any bass would be ideal

Where have all the 'good' posters gone..?
RockfordStone replied to JTUK's topic in General Discussion
I still come on here daily, but the place certainly has been changing... the biggest thing ive noticed is how things turn very quickly into arguments... there seems to be a lot less tolerance for other peoples opinions, and i think that probably gets peoples backs up -
should rehearsal costs be split equally?
RockfordStone replied to MacDaddy's topic in General Discussion
we always split it between us, if we have to hire an amp or kit, its what is required for the band to have a practice so we split it accordingly -
Do you/your band rehearse with full gigging set-up?
RockfordStone replied to Lozz196's topic in General Discussion
i take what i gig with because that's what i have -
i love matt skiba, but seen some videos from the show and im just not sure he works. the joy of tom was that his voice was different to mark, he made blink 182 for me. maybe the idea will grow on me
We've had some places so dire you wouldn't believe. We let our drummer sort us out a room once. It was on this lock up on a traveller encampment. There was someone (and a rabbit) living in there the whole time. Patched electricity from a pole, etc. Anyway it transpired that someone had been kidnapped and tortured in the very lock up next door - while we were actually there! We never went back after that. But my Dad got to say "Poor f**ker really was being tortured if he had to listen to you lot"
i am pretty sure i've practiced there too we have a real mix round here, some are dire, some are good some are good rooms with naff gear, some are naffer rooms with reliable gear... i prefer the latter personally, i hate a nice clean room, i prefer something dingy and vibey

my computer lives, now maybe i may be able to squeese something in
Although the bass seems to have disappeared since uploading to SoundCloud... Strange times...
that will be most likely because soundcloud reduces the quality, think it only plays back a 128kb mp3

I had ideas for this one as well. But alas. Hopefully I'll be able to build my new one before the weekend

Recording discipline - your top tips for a young band
RockfordStone replied to The Admiral's topic in General Discussion
biggest tips from me 1 make sure you are prepared, that means: - knowing what songs you are playing, - knowing what parts you are playing - guitars intonated, set up correctly, if strings are bad, change them, if drum skins are bad, change them. any time sorting this out in the studio is time wasted. 2 listen to the producer, he is your friend and knows his studio, his gear and how to use it to get the best out of your instruments. -
Well, you're still here mate! So that's a good sign Don't put pressure on yourself. Nothing worse than trying to write a tune when it feels 'forced'.
well i started to give it a go and it terminally destroyed my computer, so until i rebuild it you wont get nothing off me

i should get involved in this again.. but im finding myself less and less interested in music
-
the one thing that can get you down in early stages is if it doesn't sound like how you want it to. Even if your first recordings sound like arse, keep pushing through, most of us here had to get through some dire efforts before we got there, i know i did.... Skol however was just born magic

may be worth contacting studio spares too, they may have an expert?
