You don't need any time, just as loose as possible will do, to go with the noises you get.
more the fact that i am getting married in 9 weeks and just started a new job, so everything is all up in the air at the moment, finding time to breathe is a mission
Not sure why you want a cupboard? Why not just get a (DAW) desk? Personally I just went to IKEA with some measurements, and got a couple of mix and match units. There are purpose built DAW units but tend to be expensive. You first need to check out how much space you have, and the ideal spot in your room for monitoring, convenience etc. To get some ideas I just went to few DAW forums and looked at their Home Studio (porn) threads. Good place to start is the Basschats Home Studio thread, http://basschat.co.u...me-studio-porn/
IKEA used to be the go to place for desks to modify to make a studio desk, as you can swap parts in and out and mod them easily. i used to have a massive corner desk, when i decided what i needed ideally, i took measurements then went to ebay.. got mine for 26 quid

rather than buy a bass at 200 and spend 100 quid on converting to a fretless... why not just buy a fretless? i'm sure you could get some decent options for under 300 if you look around

i might throw all my effects pedals on the floor and stamp on them and see what noises i can get.... if i get any time

Envy Waits are indeed my band, I've somehow ended up being the front man. If you come down come and say hi, i'll be the fat bassist in a hat -
7 entries and only 14 people have voted.... poor showing from the rest of the forum

Drummer taking too long to set up
RockfordStone replied to coffee_king's topic in General Discussion
we had a drummer who used to take an hour to set up and half hour to take down.... was a ballache especially for three hour practice sessions. our current one can do it in 20 minutes, but I knew a drummer previously who would set his cymbal stands before going onto the stage so it took us 10 minutes to get on and 10 to get off -
im not a fan of practices, certainly in summer months, even more so if we have no gigs lined up... the thought of being in a room for 3 hours with no natural light after a full 12 hours at work really turns me off. I see them as a necessary evil to allow me to gig, so I just suck it up and cope

cubase has a phase invert button on the track fader also, the phase inversion isn't a hard and fast rule, sometimes it is a matter of just lining the peaks etc up with the wave form, but as with all recording elements, do what sounds best

so i got mine done, less of a composition as such, more a straight up song it didn't end up anywhere near where i started, but it's not bad. i started with noises, but the apollo theme only came out when i had a brain wave and started sticking sound clips in not pleased with the vocals personally, but then i never am and recorded them in my bedroom the day after download festival so... with the guitar solo, i tried to get the vibe of it being played in space down comms... dunno if it worked tho. How do you enter the stage..so to speak...at a gig?
RockfordStone replied to Jigster's topic in General Discussion
we jump up through piston powered floor panels thought a cloud of smoke with fireworks -
My band have taken up an evening at the Corner House in Cambridge. We are looking for 2 bands (preferably blues rock/rock/blues) or 1 band and an acoustic act. The gig will be run with free entry so hopefully there will be a crowd. if anyone is looking for a gig in Cambridge drop me a message

currently trying to finish the recording part of mine, but my voice is broken from a weekend at download so it could suck
-
my entry is coming along, working on lyrics for it currently, then put some varnish on it
-
you know, i even read the instructions and totally missed it, im well in then, ive been cutting sections out too so i'm fine
-
did we once set a time limit on tracks? if so what was it, mine is just under 5 minutes
-
im always nackered the day after the gig, I think its a cross between the come down and lack of sleep
-
I want to do something like this, but wouldn't know where to get the contacts haha
-
i'm well away into an idea, debating whether or not to put vocals to it
-
I am going to combine this as a song for my new project.... i'm going epic....

I had this with my warwick thumb, apparently it was a common problem in warwicks of a certain age. as mine as a typical bridge saddle set up rather than a through body job, I just filed down the relevant slots. I will eventually (or if I sell the bass) get a new saddle, but for now, it does the job just as well

OK, I've voted, but I maintain that it's not good enough. I'll have a think and see if there's not a system which allows for more recognition for all the entries. Having one out in front is fine (and well deserved, each time..! ), but there are so many (all..?) that deserve to be honoured. For instance, how about the Eurovision-type system, awarding (for 10 entries...) 1 for least, 2 for better... up to 10 for best of bunch..? They'd still be a clear winner, but every other would also get at least some points..? They're all too good, that's the problem..! A bit less quality would make it far easier. Hmm... I'll be back.
if we go for a Eurovision style voting system, I insist on cringey friend of each member ringing up skol and saying "hello skol this is Helsinki calling, we want to congratulate you on the super duper show you are doing... *awkward silence*.. and here are our votes"..... also a lady with a beard
