Mercyful Fate, Judas Priest, Saxon, Killing Joke, and a whole bunch of others in the one weekend. I’ll have to wait until June though.

The Mooer Pure Boost is supposedly a ripoff of the Xotic RC Booster. Very good it is though. Lots of positive opinions to be found on it if you do a bit of Googling. Incidentally… I’m selling one in the classifieds atm for £25. I’m using a preamp preset for boosting now, so it became superfluous.

Highly versatile bass distortion pedal that is the result of a design collaboration between MXR and Ryan Ratajski of Fuzzrocious. It’s based on a RAT circuit, tweaked for bass, and with enhanced control and clipping diode options. It’s a RAT, sure enough, but without the obvious limitations of the original. This one retains your low end, even without any dry blend dialled in. There are two clipping modes, LED & silicone. The former being more open and throaty with good mid presence, and the latter being more thick and intense. It covers a lot of ground, especially given the separate dry and wet level controls. It stacks very well too, in various ways. My personal preference was to use it in the lower gain range in LED mode with the tone control open and the signal full wet. Very natural sounding, responding well to playing dynamics. You can hear this setting at the end of both demos I linked below. It goes into the brutal range too, absolutely no doubt. And if you want even more gain, there’s an internal trim pot that can be cranked. Like I said … it’s very versatile. Product blurb here … https://www.jimdunlop.com/mxr-bass-distortion/ Demo here … https://youtu.be/WJXXePJLE2U Another demo here … https://youtu.be/yc6EMg9dKZc The pedal works perfectly. Will post 1st class recorded (UK only) for an extra fiver. Trades: Always interested in dirt … What you got?

The SansAmp section precedes the FX loop, so you have the flexibility to position that specific preamp at any position in the chain, and have the full chain going to DI

Good and functional boost pedal. 15dB active 2-band EQ. 20dB of boost. True bypass circuit … It’s said to be a clone of the Xotic RC Booster (v1). There are a great many uses for this simple pedal. Excellent condition/ perfect working order. Velcro on underside. £25 (I’d also trade for a decent short strap). I’m happy to post first class recorded (UK only) for an extra fiver. Here’s a direct comparison between the clone and the original (worth reading the comments) …

Mid-shaping pedal from EWS. This pedal is made to give you specific control of your mids. Especially useful for passive basses, or actives with two-band EQ, or any application where enhanced mid control may be lacking or required. It can be used to reintroduce mid punch if you need help cutting through the mix, fine tune your tone to a room, or alternatively, to give a nice thick scooped slap tone at the click of a switch. There’s many uses for it. It has a boost/ cut of +\-12db, and the frequency centre can be set anywhere between 120Hz - 3kHz. It can be powered either 9v or 18v for more headroom. I personally recommend 18v, as it’s so super-clean and noise free. Product info here … http://ews-us.com/item_bassmid.php?item=custom £50 I’m happy to post first class recorded (UK only) for an extra fiver.

Do you experience a volume boost with yours also?

Reverb and Delay in one Pedal. What options are there?
Fionn replied to binky_bass's topic in Effects
The old Boss RV-3 Reverb/Delay Guitarists are known to love it, and it’s fantastic with bass also … Digital, clean, not muddy at all, holds definition, no loss of low end. Harder to find these days perhaps -
The contours/ sculpting on my ‘98 Pro M are as pronounced I’ve seen on any Streamer. Far more so than on the ‘87 Streamer I had. These photos give a good impression anyway …

I have these MEC electronics, from a Warwick Streamer Stage II, that I would like to put in another bass. Thing is, I’m not so knowledgeable with electronics, and there are a few loose wires to consider. Can anyone here advise me what the various connections are? Am I correct to assume that the two short black and red wires at the bottom are the battery connection, the longer red one is an earth connection, and that the loose brown wire has become disconnected from pot ‘D’? Also, what do the various pots control? Pot ‘C’ is (active/passive switching) volume on the upper concentric pot. The lower has a detent. Is that pickup blend then, with the other 3 being the 3-band EQ? If so, which is which (B/M/T)? Your advice would be most appreciated. Ta’

Hahaha. Any port in a storm! I know such sticky carpets. The Red Rocks was a bit special though, sure.

We played at the Red Rocks, in Colorado. Our show was on the 5th. Aye, there are sacrifices to be made, living it this wild remote place. It’s all worth it though. Balance is the answer for me, having adventures out in the world and coming back to this wild haven, it affords some nice contrast. Glad that the world is opening up again, for all of us.
