Sold Discontinued bass bridge by Schaller, with the quality of construction and design that you’d expect of that brand. 3-way adjustment (spacing/ intonation/ height), Stainless Steel Construction, Std 5-hole mounting, black (screws included), Black, 4-string. Works as a high-mass alternative to Badass, Hipshot Kickass, etc … Same screw positions, so no need to drill new holes in your Fender or whatever. SOLD It’s said that this is a clone of the Xotic RC Booster. Clean boost, or a touch of hair from the gain control, an EQ tweak using the two band EQ, or any mixture of the above. I used this both at the front of the chain with a touch more gain and bass to push an OD, and at the end for a clean and neutral boost. So useful for something so small and unobtrusive. Sold Well regarded, very functional, and musical bass Chorus, with a load of features and control options (as well as a flanger mode). In addition to the basic chorus control set, the ability to shape and balance which frequencies are affected (and the crossover option) allows you to get the most out of the effect whilst staying present in the mix. Sooo… Yesterday I attempted the deneckification of the said bass. First I tried tapping them out which didn’t work, as the screw threads are very tightly bitten-in. Then I tried to drill out a broken screw, but the drill bit only wanted to travel into the wood (rather than the screw), so I stopped promptly. They’re broken at a point too deep to get a Dremmel in there to cut a pseudo-screw head. Thus, I spat the dummy and will return it to the donor, to be his problem oncemore. It’s a nice bass, sure. One of those early Indian (FMIC) Encore P-basses with the super heavy body and square string tree … but it’s not valuable amd, failing an easy fix, not worth the ball-ache in the end. Thanks for all the advice folks. You’re stars. No doubt these techniques would work in other circumstances. This one was a bee-ach and a half though.

Not yet. I won’t be home until the weekend, so I’ll try then. First thing I’ll try is to tap them out with a punch, and try to work it loose, as suggested above. Failing that I’ll get the drill out. Looking for some advice here. I was recently given a rather nice old bass that I would like to fix up. Problem is, the heads have sheared from two of the neck screws … sheared at a point within the body of the bass, so I can’t twist them out with pliers unfortunately. Any suggestions how I can remove these? Cheers 🙃

Sold Heavily modified RB Vampyre, 2008, MIC. I bought this bass as original, seeing its objective potential as a modding platform. It’s a solid and well built instrument, substantial and well balanced, with a stable 3-piece maple neck, a fretboard of beautifully rich dark fine grained rosewood (remember rosewood?), an alder body and, notably, the same gold label MEC active pickups as are found on high-end Warwicks. As we’re becoming accustomed to with modern Chinese-built instruments, it’s very well constructed with good QC. Really neat. The fit of the neck pocket is so precise that the body and neck stay connected and tight even when the screws are removed, the fretwork is excellent, and the finish compares favourably to that of a MIM Fender. Though this is now way beyond the average Rockbass, as everything else is modified/ upgraded. I changed the original chrome hardware to black … New Warwick tuners, Warwick strap locks, Warwick knobs, Warwick screws, & ferrules … applied the black ‘W’ headstock-logo decal instead of the white lettering … replaced the plastic nut with brass … fitted a Hipshot Kickass bridge with brass saddles … upgraded the electronics with those from a Streamer Stage 2; high-end MEC pots, and MEC BEC-3 3-band preamp with active/ passive switching (preamp alone costs €190) … So it now feels, looks, and sounds top-drawer. Original hardware included in sale, in case you want to return it to spec. Also included is a new Rockbag gig bag. Everything is in perfect working order, the neck is true, the truss rod does its thing, and there is virtually zero fret wear. All hardware and electronics function as intended. Cosmetically very tidy, with only a very light patina. No chips, cracks, scrapes, nor gouges whatsoever. The bass is set up to play, with a medium/ low action. I understand that money invested in modifications isn’t something that generally gets good returns on the 2nd hand market, and this is well reflected in the price. Do some Googling and you’ll know that the value of what’s on offer here is significantly above the asking price, so no low-ball offers please. I’m up for trading, potentially … Ideally something I actually need, like a part trade on a 12” Markbass cab, either the NY121 or TRV121 … or possibly something I don’t need, like another bass (so long as it’s of equal or lesser value). Whatcha got to offer? I live on the Isle of Lewis, so it’s unlikely you’ll be collecting it, though I’ve posted a lot of basses in the past, and know the importance of bombproof packaging … You arrange your preferred method of postage, and I’ll make sure the bass is meticulously packed and good to go, simples. I have good feedback on here if you need to check that out. If you have any questions I’m happy to talk bass, sure. Anyway, here’s some Vampyre porn …

Absolutely I did something similar with a BDDI Deluxe. At one point I had my bass going into channel A, and the output from a ABY into channel B. Into the ABY was a synth and a guitar. I had two presets allocated to the guitar, and one for the synth. It worked well.

I’m happy with my dirt section, at last. It has been settled for long enough, but it took many many years and going through more dirt pedals than I can recall to finally be satisfied I’d achieved my (subjectively) ideal dirt. Inevitably, an epic saga of trial and elimination, weeding out the various circuit types that didn’t suit and figuring out which ones did. Then acquiring and comparing various interpretations of those circuits in pedal form. Always 2nd hand, so the cost of the eternal dirt grind stayed negligible when the pedal experiment ejected one after another after another … Eventually I learned there was no single magic dirt pedal for me, and I had to adapt a multi pedal solution. I had to learn in the most practical sense, which isn’t a bad thing. This multi pedal solution is very flexible with lots of scope, and I doubt my tastes will ever evolve beyond their capabilities. I will stir the hive from time to time, of course, just to put my dirt harem to the test. Gladly, the current selection has so far proved untouchable. Long may it continue. Like the quest for a mate, the quest for dirt is a fun and interesting journey full of excitement and anticipation. As these things go however, I’m glad to be home with her with our feet up on the sofa. It feels good 🤘🏻
