NEW D CLASS BASS AMP BUT WHAT?- QUILTER? MESA? etc??
TorturedSaints replied to BassManGraham's topic in Amps and Cabs
Saw your review on Thomann @Mudpup. I've been looking at the BB800 for a while and have now ordered one from Thomann unheard. I'm selling my GK MB500 as I fancy something a bit less coloured to go through my BF Super Twin. -
Here's my GK MB500 for sale, located in North Ayrshire, Scotland. I can also deliver it to the Newcastle area, although I won't have a cab there for you to try it out. It comes with original box, instructions, kettle lead, footswitch and GK-branded footswitch cable. Voltage is 240V and USA made. Price includes tracked delivery to UK so if you are able to collect I will reduce the price. If you are local to Glasgow/Ayrshire, you are welcome to come and try it out through my Barefaced Super Twin. The GK MB500 is well known around these parts, but if required, here are the specs/details: http://www.gallien-krueger.com/mb-500-specs/ Mine was bought second hand about 6 years ago (how time flies) when it had the designation MB2 500 and as far as I know is exactly the same amp as currently offered by GK. [Edited to add: the latest version appears to have an on/off Limiter switch on the top of the amp, so NOT the same as the latest version, sorry.] I've only had it out of the house a handful of times, all of the gigs I have done since I bought this have been with house backline, and it's only been to rehearsals three times. At home it's been used as a quiet practice amp and never driven hard. A few really light scratches on the top which I've tried hard to show in the photos are the only cosmetic defects. The only issue with the amp itself is the -10dB Pad push switch. Sometimes it doesn't latch properly and takes a few pushes to get it to latch in. Once it's in, it stays there unless you press it again. This is exactly the same as when I bought it, so no deterioration in 6 years. No trades, sorry, as I've already bought another head, so need the cash. Any questions please ask. For some reason I can't adjust the original selling price. Now it's £280 delivered. I'm not going to go much lower, I'll keep it as a backup and get rid of the Eden WT405 which is currently being repaired/serviced. Payment by cash on collection or BACS transfer please. No Paypal (sorry) and UK only. Here's a link to my feedback:https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/249533-feedback-for-torturedsaints/?tab=comments#comment-2608074

Anyone a member of Scotts Bass Academy?
TorturedSaints replied to thebigyin's topic in General Discussion
+1 I joined right at the start and when I came to renew, I'd had pretty much zero value out of it due to lack of time. So I didn't renew and wished Scott all the best with his venture. I also decided that I'm not the type of person that learns from watching videos. It's worth watching the videos on YouTube to find out if Scott's voice grates on you. Also, it's worth noting that you should download the videos etc as you won't have access to them if you cancel your membership. -
I was about to do a deal and sell my Tanglewater Elite via FB as someone had posted that they wanted one - deal had almost been finalised although no money had changed hands and Mrs Saint said 'oh, don't sell that bass, it's got lovely wood grain on it', to which I replied 'I'm just about to buy another one and this one won't get played'. She then said 'sell it to me and then you'll still do one in, one out' (she doesn't play bass). I had to message the chap back and say 'really sorry, the deal's off' and explained why - he found it quite funny as well. Having said that, Mrs Saint won't talk to the former drummer in the band, as he bought a new drum kit and wouldn't confess to his wife that he had bought it, so it was stored in my house for 2 years. Eventually after veiled threats from Mrs Saint about bonfires, he had to sell his old kit, and pretend to his wife that the one at my house was mine and that he was buying it . . .

Done. Is it worth posting a link to the page here rather than the original post? https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/musician-scammed-out-of-valuable-instrument/? Ralph

I'll try anything - but one of the bedrooms is already set up as a studio! Sorry all - I shouldn't have let my frustration spill out in this thread!

Ha ha! I've been trying to sell my house for over a year. Anybody fancy a 5 bed farmhouse with 3 1/2 acres, polytunnel, greenhouse and log cabin for £310k ? But that is in Scotland.
-
Regarding the log cabin option, we built one as a garden room/summerhouse. Even with lots of insulation and cladding the inside roof, it's too cold in winter and too hot in summer. It's a nice room, but I wouldn't leave musical instruments in there as there is a lot of condensation over the winter and the diurnal temperature range in summer will play havoc with bass necks. Even the fitness machines that live in there have suffered slightly. Do check the planning regulations (which are different for us in Scotland) before you build, which may become relevant/required if you plan to put any heating in it. Hope this helps your decision - it was relatively cheap to buy/build for us, but we were never planning to use it for music.

Hi BipBip, I know english isn't your first language. Can I suggest that to help you sell your Megatar that you change the title of the thread slightly? "Offer accepted" to me means that you have accepted an offer and may well be putting buyers off from looking at the thread. If you changed it to "For Sale or Trade" then the advert might work better. I hope this helps.

Private Rehearsal Space - Central Scotland
TorturedSaints replied to Crawford13's topic in General Discussion
There are occasional ads on Gumtree in Glasgow and Edinburgh for private rehearsal spaces. Other than that I don't know of any. -
It might be worth having a chat to Alex.

OT - never noticed the bum note! :-)

I bought a Chorus pedal from Pete. Very quick despatch and very smooth deal. Thanks Pete.
-
I was about to agree with this until I started to list what I had actually bought new . . . I have spent far too much for what I need (for example my (purchased new) BF Super Twin has only ever been to 2 rehearsals), but hey ho, I'd only spend it on something else. At least with second hand gear, you can normally sell for pretty much what you paid for it, unlike cars, boats and horses.
-
nimbit.com will also sell physical merchandise, although we've never used this. It's likely to be relatively expensive for small numbers of CDs.
-
I've just got one too for overseas transactions, they are offering free delivery for the cards at the moment, seems like a good idea.

To be fair, the original article didn't have the update saying that a software update would fix it. I did read it. But you're right, it's a non-issue now apart from the enduring ironic hope of wanting to turn the guitarist down without their knowledge/assent!

February Composition Challenge - VOTING ENDS TONIGHT!
TorturedSaints replied to Skol303's topic in General Discussion
For those BCers that have never listened and voted in the Composition Challenge, please have a listen and take part. Voting finishes tonight. This month's tracks are all great pieces of music in their own right. Having entered previously, I know that a lot of effort goes into writing these pieces and for 7 people to write and perform music just for 9 people to cast votes is a little disheartening! Come on, support your fellow BCers.- 18 replies

Can the vulnerability be used to turn the guitarist down mid-gig? If so, that's useful!

Checked the website and it's back up to £99. Pity, I would have tried it at £30, but not at £99. I'll just keep an eye on the Effects for Sale forum . . .
