1. I bought a Chorus pedal from Pete. Very quick despatch and very smooth deal. Thanks Pete.
2. I was about to agree with this until I started to list what I had actually bought new . . . I have spent far too much for what I need (for example my (purchased new) BF Super Twin has only ever been to 2 rehearsals), but hey ho, I'd only spend it on something else. At least with second hand gear, you can normally sell for pretty much what you paid for it, unlike cars, boats and horses.
3. nimbit.com will also sell physical merchandise, although we've never used this. It's likely to be relatively expensive for small numbers of CDs.
4. I've just got one too for overseas transactions, they are offering free delivery for the cards at the moment, seems like a good idea.
5. To be fair, the original article didn't have the update saying that a software update would fix it. I did read it. But you're right, it's a non-issue now apart from the enduring ironic hope of wanting to turn the guitarist down without their knowledge/assent!
6. For those BCers that have never listened and voted in the Composition Challenge, please have a listen and take part. Voting finishes tonight. This month's tracks are all great pieces of music in their own right. Having entered previously, I know that a lot of effort goes into writing these pieces and for 7 people to write and perform music just for 9 people to cast votes is a little disheartening! Come on, support your fellow BCers.
7. Can the vulnerability be used to turn the guitarist down mid-gig? If so, that's useful!
8. Is this still available or was it a duplicate post?
9. Checked the website and it's back up to £99. Pity, I would have tried it at £30, but not at £99. I'll just keep an eye on the Effects for Sale forum . . .
10. Ah, but does it sound better on vinyl through a tube amp?
11. There are a couple of ACG five strings for sale on the forums here. I have 2 ACGs and they are amazing basses. This one is amazing value for a hand-built instrument (nothing to do with me by the way):
12. Well, being a previous entrant in the composition challenge (under my previous forum name of RalphDWilson), I know how much work, angst and creative juices go into producing entries! It's the least I can do to listen and enjoy, even if I'm not entering.
13. Incredibly difficult to choose. All so good in different ways. Thanks for all the hard work, much appreciated here. It does look like I'm in a tiny minority of preferring the links rather than the embedded tracks, but that's probably due to my (previous) way of deciding which tracks to vote for , which was to open all of the links as separate tabs in a browser and then start eliminating them - the last 3 tabs open are the ones I vote for! I'll just have to start a scorecard . . .
14. I've been lusting/GASsing for one of these . . . although my iMac is only a 2013 one, so I wasn't sure if the Equator software would be too much for it. Nice work!
15. Are you certain that the B3 will work with the iPad? I had a quick google and it looked as though some people hadn't managed to make it work. I haven't used the cheap Camera Adaptors, but you can get Focusrite iTrack solos second hand for around that sort of money, although possibly not the latest version with lightning.
16. I bought an interface and some studio monitors from their shop, but at my request they dispatched them to my home address from their mail-order operation free of charge. They were very willing to price match, have a interesting selection of synths and monitors in the shop. I don't think they do basses though, unless things have changed recently - my purchases were about 3 years ago. Based on that experience I would thoroughly recommend them - much more friendly than the equivalent Guitar Guitar music tech shop in Glasgow.
17. I've never done this and I don't know about the hardware, but this looks interesting: http://www.audiomulch.com/info/what-is-audiomulch I have had a Behringer BCF 2000 midi controller in the past, and I think that the BCR2000 midi controller could hook up to this.
18. On this evidence, she has a cracking pair of lungs . . .great voice.
19. Happy Christmas to all and thanks for the music! A great selection of songs here as ever. Ralph
20. IQ. http://www.iq-hq.co.uk A chance invitation to a gig (after I'd photographed them for a article in the student newspaper) made me realise that there was some music other than classical that spoke to me. I have subsequently liked other bands like Rush and Genesis, but still I return to IQ time and time again. A great band who are still going from strength to strength - I know that the original and current bass player Tim Esau is an occasional poster here, he plays some cracking lines, as did John Jowitt when he was in the band.
21. The new Retro B model from Alan at ACG perhaps? http://www.acguitars.co.uk/retrob-basses/
22. Mature bass player (50s), professional gear, living in the Glasgow area seeks musical recreation opportunities i.e. songwriting/jamming/recording. I was recently in a gigging originals rock/prog band - I'm not overly keen on playing covers though for a short term fun thing it's better than not playing. I write songs, play some keyboards and reed instruments, and read music. Musical interests range from rock to classical and musical theatre, not including Country & Western nor Britpop. I have access to recording equipment as well. Willing to travel Ayr/Paisley/Glasgow for rehearsals, but it probably won't suit me to rehearse on the same night every week. Previously http://www.soundcloud.com/darkskyband and personal stuff (including BassChat Composition Challenge entries) http://www.soundcloud.com/torturedsaints cheers Ralph
23. I haven't (well, not on bass anyway). However, this https://www.reddit.com/r/MusicalTheatreScores/ is a great resource and has made a great difference to my sight-reading. I've spent quite a few hours recently playing along to cast recordings. Yesterday I went back to some other music books and instead of my eyes straying to the tab lines, they stayed fixed on the notation. I've always been a confident sight reader in treble clef for the clarinet/sax, but doing this was just the ticket for improving my bass clef sight-reading and not looking at fret markers/fingering while playing.
24. Outrageously cheap. GLWTS. Sorry I'm not in a buying position - as I don't play with a band any more, I can't justify the number of basses I have at the moment. I love my Finn 4. Could I suggest you change your car instead rather than sell your bass? :-)
