  1. I just dont get the point of it... like others have said here theres clearly something there thats intriguing but as songs they just dont stand up. I like the woman's voice too, very Tracey Thorn-esque. A very very weird choice to have to end a festival on - particuarly since the Smashing Pumpkins were before them on the lineup and would have finished it significantly better
  2. Id give a Geddy Lee Jazz a run out... Fantastic thin neck on them, mine is splendid
  3. I had one of these, awesome. Theyre only 8ohm and the 10in acts like a horn. Stick a 2x10 on top and you have an epic set up that can fill a room beautifully, i used mine for years doing rock gigs... Cheap as chips as well. And i do like chips.
  4. Absolute barg, i love mine. The best neck ive ever played on a bass, so easy to plunk on.
  5. Cant see that Cliff Burton has been mentioned? Dear lord.... Ok...ill go with Cliff Burton JPJ JJ Burnel Geezer Butler Krist Novoselic Stuart Zender Squarepusher Sting I think that will do for now...
  6. Its all Dood's fault that im here, if I remember correctly?
  7. Its not bad, very Motorheadyyyy if you ask me. I like the chap and i hope he does well.
  8. I definitely wouldnt deal with them directly, and i actually like Rics! The only new Ric ive ever had from new had to go back to the shop and me getting my money back due to the paint shearing off the body near the bridge after a month's use. Certainly would thnk twice about ever buying a new one. And given Hall's recent shenanigans i would rather buy second hand. Interestingly one of the bridge pins fell out of that bass as well... QC at Ric appears to be poor which is a shame as the bass itself was an absolute delight to play (as Dood will testify to after giving it a workout when i bought it)
  9. I really think you should giveup on Rics George... You've been through more Rics than my local shop has ever had!
  10. Its absolutely delightful... but since ive spent the money id earmarked for this on my current BG 4003 I cant entertain buying it! Im sure someone will be extremely happy with this, beautiful example of a classic bass in (IMO) the best colour you can get. GLWTS!
  11. Oh good lord, this is "the one that got away"
  12. This thread makes me sad. I like Rickenbackers a lot (Mr Clifford Lee Burton, thats your fault that is) and own two but the conduct of the company in this manner is frankly ridiculous and a little well, pedantic. I can agree with JH in policing any NEW copies of said instruments, but old Jap knockoffs from the 70's? Whats the point? I just dont get it. The poor publicity gained from the action of pursuing these (ahem) "criminals" who own these basses surely outweighs the benefit of stopping Bob from Watford sell his old CMI to Keith for £230, All seems ridiculous and im with HJ here - a court case seems massively improbable. Be interesting to think what a UK government official has to say on the matter. Cant seem to sue all those dudes in China who make copies of BMW's etc!
  13. Ill always have multiple basses - each one does a different job for me. Some have a certain sentimental value now as well.
  14. Chap who i used to deal with at DV lost his job with all of this going on. I had great service from him, so im sure he will get a job with another firm very soon. Seems the firm themselves dont have a lot of scruples though.
  15. Ive got one of these - awesome price for this! Wonderful neck and the craftsmanship is spot on in the new Mex factory setup
  16. Wish I was closer! Doh... someone should pick this up... nearly half the price of a new one, and without the potential wait!
  17. You just cant go wrong with these.
  18. Very sad to hear this, seem him live a couple of times and also seen them with Sergio a couple of times too. A superb band and Chi's lines were a big part of that in their early life.
  19. The only fakers i have ever played have all been crap, but there you go... Luck of the draw, a bit like getting a good Rics ive played a few dogs!
  20. Is this one with the vintage tone selector on it? Might be interested in a trade with a USA P (and cash)...
  21. This one wont be about long due to use of the "R" word http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-RICKENBACKER-4003-CMI-COPY-BASS-JETGLO-BLACK-/190819192234?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2c6db5cdaa
