1. Hi chaps Just had a disappointing email from the guitarist in my originals project (kinda 90's grunge feel) saying he doesnt want to do it any more. Thats a bit of a bolt from the blue to completely jack it in, but i know he feels we should be doing more and have made faster progress and that clearly has made him think twice about it. We were rehearsing once a week and after a few months rehearsals had six written. Not a lot of songs admittedly but this is due in no small part to a number of factors like pre-planned holiday, work, etc etc - there has never been a lame excuse to cancel rehearsals.... the singer sometimes very rarely has to work nights but the rest has been holidays. With the covers band im in still limping along (and also now in the process of having to rehearse in a new drmmer after the drummer left to join an outfit closer to his house) it means i was rehearsing twice a week as it was. I dont think i was being unreasonable to say i didnt have the time to do more than one a week? Anyway, i dont really know what to do about it all. Find another guitarist? Play the guitar myself and keep writing things while finding a bassist (i was writing things on guitar)? Jack it in totally? Given that the previous chap had written half the stuff its a little daunting to think ive got to get writing again, and quickly... as i wouldnt want to continue working on his songs, which is a shame as they were good. I also struggle to write "songs", but can certainly write a good riff with a hook. Any thoughts you have would be welcome, esteemed bass brothers.
2. I use one of my Rics, so thats over a grand second hand or new really? My opinion is that i got 'em to be played, so thats what I do. I do guard it quite closely though, even when ive had a few pints.
3. This is exacly what i want next, but i just paid for a holiday, even down to the black PG... Arghrhrhhrghhhh
4. I took my SVT 5 to Pete at Sonic Fix - top bloke, a bassist himself who uses Ampeg gear... And he's just outside of Norwich. www.sonicfix.co.uk
5. Thats a corking price for a v63 Chris... Lovely FG on it too.
6. £700 for this is excellent. Still the best valve sound ive ever heard.
7. One day i will own one of these. Nearly bought one but ended up with a Triumph instead! Lovely bass fella.
8. Cutting the lo-mid has made a big difference, as did removing a lot of the SpectraComp. In fact, reducing the treble after using the Shift button gave it a much much better, rounder sound. So many buttons and options, that Shift button seems to be the key to most of it!
9. Ive got six of them... Not a bad hit-rate!
10.
Quick work Karl! this amp is great, needs a little patience and a few hours of tweaking to get your presets, but once your set its awesome.
I think this "patience" bit is what im struggling with concerning my Staccato!
11. I like this a lot
12. Another +1 for the Ampeg 610... A truly awesome cab. Sealed and ported for your pleasure! Not the lightest in the world but easy to shift about IMO with the rollbar on the back and wheels. Ampeg amps love Ampeg cabs
13. Colour me interested. Can you get AVB's face on there in the middle of the racing stripe perhaps? )
14. Thought you sold this old bean? Is this back up with a vengeance?
15.
Tech 21 VT pedal.
You are the second chap to come up with this idea I'll have a look into wiping the bass down flat and (hopefully) letting the low mid put the bottom end in. By the way, both cabs have tweeters and they are attempting to tweet as much clank as possible... Half the reason i bought this rig was because of how impressed i was with Charic's at the EEBB a while ago, not a clanky sound but fearsomely loud. I get the feeling the VT might be the way forward...
16. Ive tried and heard loads, and the only thing that was on the same level for tone AND power as my SVT5/610HLF partnership is Dood's old rig, which was an SVT2 and 2x Hartke 4.5XL's... Yep, the old heavy ones. All IMO of course
17. You dont see these very often! Id have it meself if a near identical version didnt already live in my SVT 5... Note pickup only, not too far from me actually! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ampeg-SVT-BSP-Billy-Sheehan-Preamp-/120941354306?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL&hash=item1c28aa9d42#ht_544wt_922
18. Evening peeps! Ok, ive tried a few things now. Im primarily a Ric or P player, so understandably i like a bit of clank/twang etc in my sound. I play fingerstyle mostly. Recently i got my hands on a Staccato '51, along with an RS210C and an RS212 simply cos the gigs im doing these days arent what I used to do, so the need for an SVT stack is less and less now. Thing is ive tried it a few times now... i cant get that "clank" anymore? The only way i can get a reasonable amount of treble is to whackit the treble and bass on full, but reduce the two mids, which then seems to result in a remarkable drop in volume. I plug the SVT 5 into the cabs and BOOOOOM the sound is awesome. Anyone got any ideas why? Is this just a trait of TC gear? I hope not...i like a full bass sound as much as the next guy but my style needs that clank sound. Ta
19. Just a little +1 from me for Deaky love. What a player.
20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7WWILTXOhw&feature=youtube_gdata_player This simply has to be in there.
21. OMG, i would have ripped your arm off for this before Christmas! Now I have a 2002 4003 in BG I cant justify another, lol! Beautiful bass mate, good luck with the sale. Good price too IMO.
22. Im listening to the Pumpkins latest effort, its a grower...
23. The binding on that is making me feel wobbly and hot.
24. muuusssttt resisssstttt
25. Buy with confidence from Mr Doyle, he is a top chap! I thought you went and got another SVt 5 after selling me your old one mate? Whats the SVT 6 like in comparison? And 'nuff said about the SVT610 - the best cab ever IMO.
