1. We are all different in respect of what communication method we respond to. I prefer email (must be old) and in my case can not have phone on during work time other than for serious situations requiring immediate action (don't ask, it is not glamorous). A further factor is living in the Bermuda triangle, many, many areas of Mid Wales still have no mobile signal. You can send your text but it will be stuck in the ether.
2. I have been robbed, I thought my £150 bass was the nuts. I must go lower My peavey Milestone iii at £40 is not bad. So who has the cheapest bass with a great tone (free as in given does not count) and what is it?
3. Staggering bargain for someone, great parts and great value. Sadly my bass quota spent for moment.
4. Cheap 10 or 31 band graphic?
5.
You could just call Peavey on 01536 461234 and ask to speak to Sales. I ordered some pots for for a TKO75 and a special 150 they were about £2.40 each
That is playing outside the rules, an unfair advantage. Is your real name Lance
6. Could be worth a trip to local engineering workshop or garage. They might have a suitable 'easy out' or even a left hand thread bolt. A fiver in a used note well spent. The other tactic that can work is to find a suitable width (sacrificial) flat head screwdriver. It needs to be a tight fit jammed across two opposite angles of the rounded hex adjuster. It may need filing to fit, it needs to be a tight fit. There is only one way to go, unscrew and remove. If you get it out, replace.
7. Good to hear that it is wired up and good to go
8. Excellent, share the specs please.
9. Burns Bison or whatever re-issue? Not for me, sorry. I am a Gibson bass lover, the ES335 bass will finish my marriage lol, but will be worth every penny.
10. I have bought several basses from here. All have been at very fair prices, some £200+ below shop prices. Somehow seems wrong to buy here and then make a fast buck selling here at a profit. I know it is buyers choice and a free market. I guess I feel that if I have a bass from here at a good price, I should pass that good price back to others here. Yes I agree some kit will increase in value, yes I will add in what I might spend - new strings, setup etc. It is not simple.
11. What else at home needs repair ????
12. Cost benefit analysis needed here. Do you have epoxy? what could you use it on instead of pot repair. would the cost saving of other repairs with that epoxy exceed the £1.28 purchasing pots. I think we need to be told
13. The power of basschat
14. I really like TI flats, use them on most of my basses. My experience with the B string not so good as others report. I drilled my Rockbass corvette bridge out to get the string to fit - easy DIY. Despite tweaking trussrod and raising action I found the B to be floppy. Great disappointment because for my taste and playing they are just super. The remaining E to G were excellent. Anyone want to swap a 4 string fretless Rockbass for an immaculate 5 string fretless Rockbass (with TI black nylon flats now)? I can't hack the narrow string spacing.
15.
I really like my cheap Warwick rockbass freltess. nice feel and lovely tone.......... but.. a bit.... quite Suggestions?
ditto, I am wondering what to do with my Rockbass streamer, great tone, light, well put together, plays well... lacks volume (compared to G&L and Kramer) Suggestions please.
16. Nice repair idea, is just a matter of getting stuck in with correct value pots. I like Peavey kit of that era, it is bombproof and repairable. Downside was I did not enjoy the weight of my Bass Combo 300.
17. Need closer picture of pots to see how they are connected - solder to board or what. Also the dimensions - diameter of pot would be useful. I guess you know the values of the pots, if not http://www.lbquota.n...eaveytnt115.pdf or Peavey are very obliging. They can also provide technical support above and beyond the schematics. I wanted to know the available heater current of a 1980s valve amp transformer - no problem. Look at the internals and appreciate the large discrete components with substantial PCB tracks. DIY repair is possible unlike a lot of modern kit
18. No, No, No, I must resist, it will result in divorce now where do I get one?
19. Getting into 'the zone' helps playing. When you get in 'the zone' you can just hit the right notes, all the fills, and seem to have all the time in the world to do it. Wish it happened more in my world.
20.
I'm terribly and truthfully sorry if I offended someone, I just don't consider a Rockbass as a professional instrument. For hobby playing perhaps, for serious professional use, not really. There is a difference between a cheap instrument and true craftmanship.
No axe to grind here, whatever you buy it is your own money. I have recently bought 3 x rockbasses Chinese. Two of them are every bit as good as my USA basses (vintage G&L, Kramer), they also equal Gibson EB2 (1958), Ric 4001 (1977), Fender P (1977) and John Birch EB3 (1980?) that have been in my ownership over the years. My EB2 was a nice thing, between 1975 and 79 when I used it 5 nights per week I wore the frets off it, the finish (lovely Nitro) crazed, bubbled and wore down. I lived in fear of headstock break. Buy a 2nd hand Chinese rockbass, be amazed at the finish and quality. Then stick some after-market pickups of choice on it. In fairness the neck finish is thin compared to G&L and Kramer - 1980s poly and aged. If I drop, lose, have stolen or break my USA basses I will never replace them, largely because I will never find replacements, I know of one Kramer for sale on the Internet that is the same as mine. G&L SB1 1985 - how many can I find? Chinese Rockbasses £100 to £150 s/h - loads. It gets stolen etc, so what. It is not just Rockbasses either, there are so many high quality cheapies available. I am totally with Robin Trower on this one - get your sound from commodity gear. Craftsman built kit is superb, it is a joy to play. For me it is too valuable for the day to day. Bass buying / trading is rather difficult at the moment, I am amazed at what is available for so little. All I will say is judge what you have in your hands at the time, does it play well, do you like it, is it fair for the money. Long term resale values in the current recession .. hmmmmmmm
21. My first bass amp, IC100L. First real band pa amp, all circa 1974/5. How did we gig with 100W bass amps? especially since guitarists were using Marshall. Sound City, Hiwatt 100 Watters (cheap as chips then). Listen to Dr Feelgood Supidity to hear Wilko and HH amp(s) used to great effect.
22. Barefaced Dusbster - near indestructabilty Play that long low note....
23.
Maybe remove existing solder ( with solder wick ) and re solder.
+1 on remove old solder.
24. Hiwatt Custom 200 anyone? or DR103, owned both in my youth, why did I part with them I wonder now.
