2.
My 90's reissue DC Bass Fat Mike for the win...
Lovely looking DC
3. I know the pickups, they're the bill Lawrence designed ones in the grabber that I used to have. I loved the tone on that. You don't want to sell it do you?
4. Good looking bass.
5.
Problems with ipod and imageshack lately...let's try that again...!! I have a Bob, quite fancy a duck for a backup, it makes so much more sense with the black scratch plate.
6.
Just grow a beard . It will be cheaper .
Already got one! Not to their standard yet mind.
7. I've always got GAS, going through a ZZ top phase, always fancied an explorer for some reason.
8. Has anyone got an 80s explorer bass? The one with the grabber pickups. Or even a new one? What are they like to live with? I fear the new one is just a pointy T-bird.
9. I agree. Can't beat a p-bass!
10. I played one of these on tour for 14 gigs. It was amazing to be fair to it. Not a bad word to say about it!
11. I love that 'vette. MEC pickups?
12. They're under £950 at DV247
13. I'd recommend playing a Warwick star bass (korean) and an epiphone Jack casady first.
14. Looks cool! I'm entrigued but I'm not one for gambles.

Gone

That's nice! Is the pickup an SPB-3? Pole pieces look huge?
16.
Never understood the P/J mix myself, if you want a P bass, buy a P bass, if you want a Jazz, by a Jazz.
What if you want the best of both worlds?
17. I have to agree, they should have put the double Ps in the p bass and kept the P bass neck profile. It's a great sounding bass, but would have been that much better IMO if they had kept the bodies the right way around.

sold

That looks amazing! If it had two less strings and some frets I'd be on it like a rash
19. That's a cool looking bass.
20. Noice! The mosrite copy looks pretty pimp too.
21. I played an ex Lemmy bass at a studio once, it was a 4001 shape with Gibson EP-3 pickups in it. Dog of a bass, played like a bow and arrow. I don't think Lemmy looks after his basses too well.
22. I keep looking at this, slightly besotted bump.
23. I'm about to sell my AD200 8x10 rig to get the bass terror and smart power cab. Am I going to regret it?
24. I've had my orange AD200 and OBC 8x10 for a while now and I'm completely in love with it. Only problem is I'm no longer in a touring band, instead I've formed a covers band with the intention of playing the pub scene so obviously it's just too big and probably too loud. The sound still ticks all the boxes for me though. So to make the downsizing as pain free as possible I'm thinking of a Bass Terror (sounds nearly the same as my AD after testing them together, just better at low volumes) and one of the smart power cabs, my question is what are the smart power cabs like in the real world? And also which one to go for? Does the 2x12 fill a room? Or do I get something else entirely? Markbass? TC?

Gretsch GAS
Got my Gretsch earlier in the year and just had it set up, strings changed, intonation, bridge pinned etc. It is a thing of great beauty - a bonny piece of work. A few observations... It does feel long and it is a big body. Doesn't bother me as I'm 6 ft 5 though. There is neck dive and I guess you could move the strap button from the body to the heel of the neck (the Thunderbird ruse), but there's no way I'm taking a drill to it. The strings do not centre over the pole pieces but other than it might look better if I cared to look closely, I'm not bothered. Don't think tone/volume/whatever is affected either. Don't think this is a QC issue, it would be a design issue if anything. The build quality in general is just about flawless. Nice chunky neck which suits my big mits.
Which one do you have?
