1.
They look lovely! This is what I found online: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/ABZ4_Nat.html. Even though that's new it's over £1000 out of my budget and most likely at least £500 out of my budget used I can't comment on the fanned frets until I've tried them, could go either way! So, still to try:

Squier VM Jaguar
Fender Modern Player Jaguar
G&L SB2
Several Yamahas, Ibanez's and Peaveys (T-40 if poss)
Warwick Streamer Stage 1 (even if it's out of my price range I just really wanna play one)

If you want to take a short hop over the bridge you're more than welcome to play my T-40s (I have both incarnations) and anything else I have that you take a fancy to.
2. I got my AD200 a few years ago, before it I had an Ampeg SVT-4 pro and although I owned a fair few basses my favourite was my Stingray. Upon receiving the AD it became quickly apparent that the ray didn't sound that good through it, my Jazz and T-40 however sounded amazing. The same was true of other active basses I had at the time, Trace T-bass, Bongo, a deluxe P I was borrowing. So much so that I flogged all the actives. Just wondering if anyone else has found this or indeed the opposite. I'm currently GASing after a certain active bass and am worried that it will be a waste of time.
3. Thanx
4.
In here Troy says he believes it's going to be made in Mexico: http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/mastodons-troy-sanders-talks-signature-fender-571655 but the official page on Fender's website doesn't say at all. I like it, especially the dirt-cheap-yet-probably-great Squier but the Squier's active only and I'm looking for a passive bass with single/split coil pups in it.
Does the fender have a passive tone control though? I love it! Just not having a passive tone control would seriously hamper the likelyhood of me getting one. Not that I have any beef with active basses.
5. Possibly the most endorsed man alive?
6. It's a good looking bass, but I can't get around the £400 more it costs than the standard, what do you get apart from gold paint and gold hardware? For me the Pelham blue reverse body one is the best looking of the current crop, and the cheapest, and from what I can gather there is no difference in construction. Looks like a cash grab to me.
7. It's nice, but don't forget it's only the finish that's any different to the normal T-bird. I reckon a 50th anniversary reissue model would have sold more and been better, in every possible way.
8.
My streamer is about 3780g - which is about 8lb 5oz. (same as fionn's) I used to have a Peavey T40 - great bass but I remeber realising it was just under twice the weight of the streamer
Was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention the T-40. I've never weighed mine but they are pretty substantial.
9. These look pretty sweet.
10. As long as its the dark brown tort I think it works. Red tort looks cheap in my opinion.
11. The 2024s are ridiculously good. There's not a lot compares to them. I think it and the Fender CS pino are the two basses that I'd sell all the others to own.
12. I love a p bass. Would you consider either bass made by a different manufacturer? Lakland? Sadowsky? Mike lull?
13. Are you finding it too big?
14. The classic 50s has a big neck even by p bass standards. The yam will feel tiny by comparison.
15. Had a scary moment today. I'm suffering from a little tendonitis recently and I noticed the pain was pretty bad playing the blues scale (my go to scale) on the first 5 positions of my P-bass. Anyone else suffer from tendonitis? It's not as if I can even change my technique to help. Would playing a short scale bass help? I'm really worried about this. Help!
16.
Here's my DMZ4001. Nearest thing to an active bass I've ever played...and it's passive! Sadly, have to say goodbye to it shortly, if anyone's after a prime 1979 example.
Could be into that, price dependant
17. I normally don't like basses with top woods, but that's beautiful. One too many strings (and digits) for me though.
18. Excited to see the pics.
19. Roadsters and T-40s are fairly vintage instruments. Your best bet for them is eBay/gumtree/ for sale section
20. The bass doc on here makes pick guards.
21.
I thought about those or Ibanez Roadsters....so many nice basses!
Where abouts are you? You're more than welcome to come play my two. Roadstars are a good shout too. Both represent unrivalled bang for the buck.
22. I know it's not a fender, but I'm gonna suggest you have a look at a Peavey T-40
23. Done that! I keep going between though, mine looks something like this. Vintage ray copy Epi T-bird Fender 78 P-bass Peavey T-40 Warwick Streamer stage 1 5 Fender P-bass Fender J-bass Gibson Grabber Aria SB-2 elite Shuker elite single cut headless 4 EBMM Bongo EBMM Stingray 2eq Ibanez Blazer Trace Elliot T-bass Peavey T-40 Fender P-bass Status Energy Matrix Lakland Bob Glaub Of all of these I still have a p, the bob, two T-40s and the blazer.
24. I quite like it
