  1. Personally I'd just hang on to the SUB neck in case you ever want to put the SUB back together again. I made the mistake of selling a 'spare' Stingray neck a few years ago and shortly afterwards wished I'd kept it! If you're intent on selling it, then you'd probably realise more value overall by reassembling the USA SUB and selling it as a complete bass and then getting a new body for the SS fretless. USA SUBS are great basses (it's my current gigging bass) and they're pretty well sought after. If you just want a standard SR body (rather than a custom build) you can get one for around £200 from guitarandbassbuilds.com here - https://guitarandbassbuilds.com/collections/custom-bass-bodies/products/custom-shop-music-man-stingray-bass-body.
  2. Hi Dave, I think this one was mine! Fabulous little bass, incredibly responsive and expressive instrument. Played it in a piano trio for a couple of years which eventually folded. Brings back more than a twinge of regret to see it here again...
  3. I found this demo of a Safran which looks very similar in design with single pickup direct to jack
  4. 👍 Good to know. I think I can see a faint line on the Thomann pics where one part of the underlying body wood is darker than the rest.
  5. Is the vintage blonde finish solid or translucent (it looks slightly translucent on the Thomann pics)? Also, is this essentially the same build/component quality as a Squier CV 60s P? Sorry, I know I'm a little late to the party on this!

Just bought a Fender MIM Precision pickup from Dave. Very nice chap to deal with, quick to reply and quick to post, arrived nicely packed. Top man, many thanks! Ian
  7. That's a very unusual and interesting bass! Can you provide a few more details: - What is the coil configuration of the pickup and any switching options? - Does it also have piezo saddles (I'm guessing not as I can't see a battery compartment)? - Are there any controls or is it direct to jack? I'd love to hear how it sounds, can you provide a demo of some sort? Thanks
  8. Just sold a set of DR Hi Beams to Nik. Seamless transaction and a thoroughly nice chap (we have 'previous' 😄 ). Thanks Nik and hope to see you at the SE bash!
  9. Can anyone tell me the tonal difference between these? Or is the 'Custom '62' just the new name for what was the old 'Original'? At a higher price 😅. Details of each below. Thanks, Ian Fender Original - https://richtonemusic.co.uk/Fender-Original-Precision-Bass-Pickups/ Fender Custom '62 - https://www.fender.com/en-GB/accessories/pickups/custom-shop-62-precision-bass-pickup/0992214000.html
  10. Selling my DHA VT-1 Purist valve preamp pedal. Great pedal for adding classic valve drive tones to warm up a solid state amp (it works superbly with my LMIII) or for adding additional boost in front of a valve amp. A quality pedal, hand built in the UK by the legendary Dave Hall, sadly departed. A few cosmetic blemishes but in full working order. Velcro strips on the underside. Needs a 12v centre negative power supply (not supplied). Easily available on ebay, something like this TC Helicon adaptor should do the job https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265191763723. Only selling as I'm now using a VT-1 Pro pedal. Price includes UK postage. Here's the spec and description from DHA: The VT1-Purist-Bass from DHA is a hand built valve Overdrive effects pedal which uses a 12AX7 (ECC83) pre-amp valve to provide true valve tone, the tone generated has to be heard to be believed! The VT1-Purist is designed and voiced for bass players looking for subtle clean to crunch valve tone for blues and rock. There is a “cool blue” back light which acts as indicator for effect on. Overdrive is achieved by using both gain stages in the 12AX7EH valve/tube to generate the classic valve pre-amp overdrive tone It is great with modern solid state amps by adding valve warmth and fantastic with valve amps by overdriving with a true valve signal path. The Gain and Level controls let you select that tone you been looking for! And don’t forget the volume and tone on your bass which will react well with the VT1-Purist-Bass just like a real valve amp/pre-amp. There is an i/p pad pot on the bass version which is useful when using active pickups. There is a true By-Pass Foot Switch. The tone is pure valve/tube, fat and warm and completely different to silicon effects pedals which tend to fizz and compress the signal. Unlike silicon pedals you can use the volume control on your bass to control the amount of distortion you want, just turn it up for the solo. The output of the VT1-Purist-Bass is connected to a standard 1/4" jack for use with an amp, desk or recording set up. The VT1-Purist-Bass runs from a 12VDC 500mA (12VDC 1000mA recommended) supply via a standard centre negative 2.1mm socket. The VT1-Purist-Bass is totally hand built using a quality PCB.
  11. Brand new and unopened set of DR Hi-Beam stainless steel roundwound strings on round core. Gauge 45-65-85-105. Excellent strings but I've moved to a lighter gauge so these are no longer needed. Price at BassDirect is £36 so a decent saving on retail. Price includes UK postage.
  12. Possibly a Retrovibe Route '51 (£32)? Looks similar but the string winding on yours fills the bobbin more. https://retrovibe.co.uk/product/retrovibe-51p-replacement-single-coil-bass-pickup-for-50s-precision-alnico-poles-cloth-wire-string-binding/
  13. You can enquire directly to Yamaha about spare parts here - https://inquiry.yamaha.com/country/?lcl=en_AU&act=3
  14. This thread from TB says the screw spec is 4-48 x 1.75". https://www.talkbass.com/threads/the-disappearing-jmj-mustang-intonation-screw.1484638/
  15. What does it weigh please and is the body ply or solid wood?
  16. Just sold an Audere preamp to Grant in a seamless and straightforward transaction. Good comms and quick payment, would happily deal with again. Many thanks and hope the JZ3 works well for you. Cheers, Ian
