  1. It's actually Real Electronics in Sheffield who are the authorised repairers. Here are their charges. £35 to diagnose the problem, which you get back if you go ahead. £69 fixed labour, £18 courier fee to send it back + parts + VAT. I am pretty sure they don't repair to component level so just "board swappers". As @lemmywinks has said, the repair cost is likely to be greater than buying a used head.
  2. The capacitor on tone control is a passive loom. It's actually a treble bleed. The Tone Monster is active so the treble pot is just part of the circuit. If the bass works ok, it could be a faulty preamp. Which model is it?
  3. He certainly makes some spectacular instruments.
  4. Well Alan, ACG, is well used to fitting them as 2 of my Luminlay basses are ACG's. 1 was a retrofit and I just detached the neck and sent it to him. Have a word with him. Sure he'd be delighted to do the Wal as well.
  5. I've got Luminay on 3 basses and never had a problem. @Andyjr1515 is spot on with the way they function and I've never had a problem getting through a set with them. I tried the Rothko and Frost ones but they were nowhere near as good as Luminlay. If you do decide to go that route, the UV charger they sell is worth buying or get some cheap ones from eBay.
  6. It won't be a bother for Ashdown, believe me. Best customer service in the business. Just give them a call and if you get Dave Green, he probably designed the RM, he will explain all.
  7. It's also up for sale on Gumtree @ £50. Anyone near it would be worth it for the cabinet alone. One of the drivers isn't a Neo, so assuming the Deltalite is the original it's around £125-150 for a new driver. It looks like this is the same cab sold by Richtone Music in Sheffield for £99, which is a bit odd as generally Richtone know the value of guitars/cabs/amps etc. I was interested in a Man+Van solution but with the cost of at least 1 new driver it's a bit steep.
  8. Saw him at Bass Day UK in Manchester in 2008. Some fantastic tales, particularly his time with James Brown. He was supposed to have been using a laptop for his session, which he wasn't over impressed with, but the day before he was at the Guitar Show in Birmingham with Swans in Flight, so he brought them to Manchester. After his session he wandered around the trade area and was so approachable and encouraging. Really sad about his dementia.
  9. They announced on social some time ago that they were repairing TE gear which kind of makes sense considering Mark Gooday worked at Trace before it was bought by Peavey. Just contact Ashdown Customer service and have a chat.
  10. Before my function band folded, we would always check what the successful bands were playing and use that as a guideline. One of the most successful function bands in the UK were The Beat Factor. They played all over Europe and at one time were the highest grossing pro function band. I think they have folded now, but I've attached the last setlist I have for them. Obviously the "latest" numbers would need refreshing but the rest are solid "function favourites". Only issue might be that they have both Male and Female vox. The Beat Factor.docx
  11. Loving Sharay Reed's tone on this Cory Henry and Funk Apostles track.
  12. Jeez what a stinky poo week. Found out yesterday our keyboard player passed on Monday. Known and played with him for over 50 years and now Martin. Done a good few deals, both ways, and what a character. Always got a text on NYE with a good dose of his humour about last/next year. I think it's going to be a very alcohol weekend and it better not come in threes.
  13. Your translation of Duncan colours to Delano is correct. Unless you have a Duncan pickup as well, just forget about the Duncan colours as I think it is confusing. What really matters matters is which is the "Hot" wire. Which is "Ground" and which 2 to connect together which you now have for the Delano. I must admit I would put a series/single/parallel switch in as per the Delano wiring to give you flexibility. If you don't like the sound with the coils wired in series, it's a rewiring job rather than the flick of a switch
  14. Brown - ground Green - Hot to pre-amp Yellow/White - connect together All wiring diagrams for Delano pickups and electronics are on the Delano website including switching options.
  15. Either solution, the splitter cable or the splitter box, give the same solution. It connects both cabs in parallel, so a 4 ohm load presented to the amp. Exactly like going amp-cab-cab. Only difference is you need three cables with the box solution. The splitter cable does it all with 1 cable.
  16. Or get a "Y/Splitter" cable likey so. Plenty around if you Google https://www.terralec.co.uk/speaker_leads_/speakon_splitter_cable/33972_p.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_term=paid&utm_campaign=ProductAds&gclid=CjwKCAjw3_KIBhA2EiwAaAAlig5m8qCeX-XV0Xa7j4Eicbx92qf8DiMewkmhu9WjfaK4dqrXTWDVXBoCyx0QAvD_BwE
  17. I'm not desperate Phil, but like you have time on my hands as currently gigless. I wouldn't have a clue how to start designing a cab but am OK following a "plan" and could probably get a start that I would be more than happy to share.
  18. I'm in, particularly if vertically aligned.
  19. I've got a Carvin BB75, the one in my profile picture. Well actually it's a BB75 body with a Marleaux neck, but that's a whole other story. The bass that I will never, ever part with.
