1. Help if I got the dates right!
2. Have a good one TBM. Unfortunately gigging that night myself.
3. Good stuff Bluejay and Lozz. I might be off to Southend to see TV Smith on 22nd June at the Railway Arms if anyone is going.
4. I'll be at Silddx's Kit Richardson gig 21st May at the Half Moon. I'll be wearing a hat and drinking a pint of creme de menthe with a lemonade top. My own band, the Jetsonics upcoming shows are Half Moon 4th May with mod garage poppers the Len Price 3 and the Past Tense. Mohair and button downs and beehives all over the shop if it's like the last one we did with them. And 3rd June at the Tropic, Ruislip and 30th June Half Moon again both with the Members who've got Rat Scabies on drums. These gigs are the proper Sound of the Suburbs.
5. I really like that white one. It's a lovely thing. I can't see when I'd ever use one though. It's a lot of money for the occasional stab at Besame Mucho at home.
6.
No problem with Yammy or Suzi but I never really got on with Kawa.
That's 'cause you're Kwackers.
7. I'm with a lot of other posters in detesting 'chops'. Apart from Barnsley ones.
8.
Very happy to go to gigs when you guys are playing, especially in West London. Please do list them in a dedicated thread, that's an excellent idea Half Moon Putney is handy for me, what's the name of the band? (Once again, 04/05 is the day before my birthday etc. but I may be around).
This one Bluejay http://basschat.co.uk/topic/172018-the-jetsonics-4th-may-a-triple-bill-of-trios/page__pid__1594775#entry1594775
9. I'm in! I like the Half Moon
10. 4th May at the Half Moon Putney gets my vote.......
11. I've collaborated on another podcast on Soundcloud. Retrosonic Podcast No.2 Tracks from: Marsha Hunt Graham Day & the Solar Flares the Mekons Stormy Devo Cute Lepers the Del-Vetts Fabienne DelSol the Monochrome Set ...and an exclusive track from the as yet unreleased final album from the Soundtrack Of Our Lives.
12. Tea and biscuits are the new rock and roll. When I'm rehearsing or gigging I need all my limited faculties as sharp as they can be. One drink maximum. After the show is another matter though.
13. No compromise. I have to play music I like with people I like. I wasted a couple of years playing stuff I didn't really care much about. If the current band ever folded I'd have to find like minded souls and start from sratch again I guess.
14.
In terms of adding the third cab, I know it's more grief (to sell and then buy again) but can you not get rid of the RS112 and replace it with the RS212? Same as adding an extra cab but one less carry. I've got a RS210 and a RS212 and it's a righteous noise at 4ohms into a Classic 450. For me, the third cab is that extra push over the cliff T
i want to leave one cab at the rehearsal room and have 2 ready for gigs at home. The idea of using all 3 is just for vanity and will look nice on a video really. With the RS210 and RS112 I never get above 3 on stage without the soundman asking me to tuirn down. If I'm getting an extra cab I thought it might as well be something I could use as a mini tower block if I felt like it.
15. Thank you all. I will probably be a weed and just get another TC cab though...
16. I have a TC 450 classic head and 2 TC cabs. An RS210 and an RS112. In all there bumph TC say the head can be used with three RS TC cabs. Is there any reason I can't run a non TC branded 8ohm cab as a 3rd cab if I wanted to? Why would it have to be a TC RS cab? Is there a special flux capacitor doobri circuit in them? I'm not a technical bod who knows electrickery but I know there are a few on here
17.
I'm loving the D'addario ProSteels on my jazz bass. Nice and punchy but also light to play.
As I said on the other thread I've just moved to these and am liking them on the Precision a lot. Nice and cheap compared to DRs. I loved DR Black Beauties. But the last few sets with the 'improved' coating have died really quickly and the G strings went dead in days. It's put me off them. It's a pity I can't get the pro steels in black. They look so much better.
18. Happy Jack and I shared an open air gig in a park with a Terror going through a BF Compact and Midget with no DI. Never remotely pushed it and one of the bands was too loud apparently...... Sholud be no problem.
19. A repeat of last Octobers packed Half Moon gig. There was so much chaos going around with the venue in mid refurbishment and the Len Price 3 being stuck on the M25 that we didn't enjoy what was a great night as much as we should have last time. All bases (and basses) covered for this one so we can concentrate on the playing and it should be a cracker. Be lovely to see you there. We're on in the middle. Bands from 8:30 to 11pm so you can still get that last bus/train. The bar is open until 1am. LP3 are amazing live and the Past Tense were excellent last time I saw them. Pic from our last gig © legendary rock snapper Paul Slattery. Do the Mussolini Head Kiss!
20. I've seen my favourite covers band who happen to be Happy Jack's band. I need to see the with their new guitarist though I saw Clarky in Rattlin' Bone. Very entertaining. Obviously they will be rubbish now though. I've shared gigs with Blackmn90's Nine Miles South who are very good and annoyingly young. Our last gig was shared with Clauster's Run Leia Run who are a great live act. I need to see Clarky's new mob and seeSilddx with Kit very soon. I also need to figure out how to share a gig with or at least see Big Red X's Terrortones. Nigel. That was the Jetsonics second gig we have only one song left from then so you must see us again soon to let us know how we compare...
21. Bargain. I love mine. Pity I can't justify having 2.
22.
La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels - currently my favourite strings for my Gus basses.
Ta. Not stupid money so I'll give them a go.
23. I've been using DR Black Beauties for a few years now. I've noticed since they 'improved' the coating they've been losing their zing much quicker and the G string is like a rubber band in a week or so. Very disappointed. Particularly as they look great on a bass. I got myself a couple of sets of D'Addario Pro Steels (for less than half the price of DRs) and I'm liking them a lot. Sound like brighter RS66s and still have top end after three weeks of hard playing. I'll trade off the looks and smoothness for the improved sound. Any other good stainless strings I should consider?
24. If my TC Classic has a fan I've not heard it yet.
25. The custom shop version comes with a proshetic nose and a chap called Serge who gives you a hefty kick in the knackers just before you start singing.
