1. Second gig tonight. EQ still flat, no need to touch anything really, again, tiny bit more gain than volume. Used my MIA Jazz bass (which is the best Jazz I've ever played), tone all the way up, bridge pickup all up, neck pickup about 1/2 up I think. Similar to last night, fantastic!!, bearing in mind I'm using this into an 8ohm cab, it's got volume and tone in abundance. I'm not sure what the issue was with the other member here who was complaining of it lacking low end, I find it very full across the frequencies, nothing is lacking IMO. Jack.......I may not give it back lol Si
2. Still loving this thread, keep up the good work! Si
3. I have to say, I've never played a Lakland that blew me away! The 44-02D I had was very polite and not very inspiring, the DJ I tried in gallery was boring as well! I think I just don't get them! Si
4. Phew, thought this was going to void the one I've just bought....book that is. But no, way too early for me lol Si p.s. You get my txt about that thumbrest Jim?
5. So had my first gig with the Terror last night, just an intimate little pub gig, plugged into my Ashdown 4x8. I was using my '85 Japanese Squier Precision, and everything sounded great, I was using the EQ pretty much flat, tiny bit of mid boost, but only just. Had gain a touch higher than the volume for a tiny bit of grind, but nothing 'distorted'. It all sounded fantastic! Another gig with it tonight which I'll use my MIA Jazz for I think, so we'll see how that fairs! Si
6. You're basing the quality and consistancy of todays Fenders on a bass that is 34years old? It probably just wants a good clean and service, but yes, the mid-late 70's Fenders were inherently heavy! And are you not sure what the brand is? even though you've said Precision. I'm not making sense of some of your post lol Si
7.
[email protected] by any chance?
Now that would be silly wouldn't it Si
8. Naa, he's a Hotmail boy Si
9. Friend of mine on here tried to sign up to Finnbass and was banned instantly! Odd Si
10.
I would try the hard sell on Trokey, but think buying his 63 P is going to keep him out of the market for a bit! Andrew
Ah we can wear him down haha! Have a bump anyway and good luck with the sale! Hopefully will get to see you play sometime soon! Si
11. Looking great! When was the refin done?, Is that genuine aging or reliced!? Just realised who's this is . Has Trokey played this yet Andrew?.....he's on a buying spree haha, get him to sell his '75RI and have this! Si
12. I'm currently borrowing HappyJack's, three gigs this week, looking forward to it! smile.gif Si
13. What kind of trades are you thinking about for the amp? edit: Just read a list of basses above, anything else you're after? Just wondering I might have my modded OLP Stingray available, pending someone else not wanting it. Bart pickup, East 2 band 18v pre, Schaller tuners Si
14.
nice reivew albeit one has to appreciate that these are personal views biased by your own preference and taste. One man's meat and all that.... p.s.: none of your links work in the first post. Thanks
That's cos I started this thread quite a while ago, it got revived yesterday I think, so I doubt the stock that I originally tried is on the Gallery website anymore!? Si
15. Try the 21frets.com forum, tis a Fender Japan specific website with a LOT of info about the early Squiers and subsequent models. The main website is more about JV's and SQ's etc, but on the forum itself, there's a lot of info about Japanese instruments in general Si
16. As far as I'm aware, he doesn't take commissions anymore?! Si
17. 1987 huh? Yup....I was 5 Si

20.
I think when an artist ends up on a string packet, in a magazine with a product or on a poster, etc etc, then that's the real deal.
Yeah completely agree...all my artist discount arrangements have been because I've paid for and used my chosen gear for a while, and through various channels and for various reasons, become friendly with the companies as a result. This has led to me being extended discounts, but not listed on websites and posters etc....to be honest, I quite like it that way, there's none of that pressure that the OP mentions with having to sign agreements etc. I get discounts off the back of being a loyal customer and busy player, but at the same time I'm not tied into any exclusivities Si
21. I've had 'Artist discount' (40% usually) extended to me by a few of companies over the years, including a couple of small freebies (pedals etc), but I've never needed to sign anything. I think it really depends on your relationship with the company and whoever is running their artist liason! Si
22. No of course! As long as it's a BC'er lol Si
23. Overseas? Who's trying to join my '73 club? Si
24. Probably my fave Jaco line actually, he really shines. I remember learning it years ago, and it really is a joy to play, I'll go through it again now! Si
25. That looks amazing doesn't it! I think I would quite happily go for that at that price.....stunning refin! Si
